"Well," Ethan replied with a wider grin. "That's for you."
Mandy's eyes widened in surprise. "Ethan! What? I don't understand."
"I'm proposing, silly," he teased, kissing her forehead. "I know it's not the most romantic way to do it, but … "
Mandy looked up at him and saw fear in his eyes … fear that she'd reject him. She stared at the beautifully designed ring and then up at his wary smile.
"Ethan. I... I just never dreamed you'd..."
"I know." Ethan replied, his voice barely above a whisper. "But you're all I've ever wanted, Mandy. Why wait? We know this is real … this feeling that we have when we're together. I want to marry you, Mandy. I want you to be my wife."
"Oh Ethan," breathed Mandy. Ethan's wife. Nothing sounded more perfect, more incredible. She slipped the ring on her finger, tears staining her cheeks.
"Yes! Yes, I'll marry you!" Mandy squealed, throwing her arms around him.
Even the sudden, loud knocking on the dressing room door did nothing to shatter the moment. Ethan pulled Mandy into his arms, melding her softness against his hard body and as he leaned down to claim her lips, she saw much more than passion in those blue depths. She saw forever.
