John hadn’t taken a seat. He leaned on his desk. “I think you should consider hiring a personal bodyguard.”
“We’ve talked about that before. Having guards here on set or when I do events is fine, but I refuse to be a prisoner in my own home.”
“Only until we find out who is sending this. I have my men working on it now. I have a few men I can recommend to you in the meantime,” Bach said.
Hailey held her hand up. “No need to. I have someone in mind.”
This was perfect. Hailey decided to use her situation to get Trevon to realize she was the woman he was in love with. After the meeting, she rushed to her dressing room and dialed his number. He answered on the third ring. “I knew you couldn’t stay away.”
“This isn’t personal, its business.”

“You did what?” Garrett yelled as Trevon informed him of their new client. “Call her back and tell her we’re booked. There’s no way I’m taking Ms. Drama Queen on as a client.”
Trevon pled. “She’s scared man. What if this fan does something crazy? Besides, it would ease my mind if we were the ones protecting her.”
“Hailey is as defenseless as a tiger in the wild.”
“Man, you didn’t hear how she sounded on the phone. I had never heard her sound that way before.”
Garrett walked out of Trevon’s office. Caroline, their secretary, looked between the two and shook her head. She was used to the two friends slash business partners rants. She continued her filing. Garrett sat behind his desk and scrolled through the personnel list. “This is insane.”
“I would handle it myself but you know our relationship is kind of sensitive right now.”
“Whatever man. We can put Brenda Anderson on it. Brenda can pretend to be her assistant and that way whoever the crazed fan is, if they are watching her, it won’t seem abnormal.” Garrett typed up a quick email and sent it to Brenda.
“Sounds like a plan. I’ll call Hailey and let her know.”
“Let me do the honors. You’ve done enough.”
Trevon took a seat across from Gavin’s desk. “Hailey, I hear you’re having some problems,” Gavin said.
Garrett turned his chair around. He didn’t need Trevon staring into his mouth every time he said something. He listened to Hailey whine. “He’s sitting right here. You want to talk to him?” He paused and then burst into a hearty laugh. “We’ll talk later. I’ll meet you at your place in a few hours.”
“So what did she say? Did she sound disappointed?” Trevon blurted out question after question.
“You owe me. You better name your first born after me.”
“Yeah. Okay. But what did she say?” he asked.
“She told me to tell you to kiss her a--,” he was cut off by his desk phone ringing.

Garrett picked up Brenda, one of his best employees, and went over the few things he knew about Hailey’s harassing letters. Brenda said, “I heard she could be a real you know what.”
“She’s not that bad,” he lied.
“I hope not. If she is, I might need to ask for a raise.”
“Maybe I should have you sign a contract beforehand,” he joked.
“I knew it. Something told me to fake an illness.”
This was Garrett’s first visit to Hailey’s new place. He noticed several security faults the moment he pulled up to her gate. The gate was wide open as he pulled up in the circular driveway of the light brown bricked two story house. Trevon was slipping. If he cared about Hailey like he said he did, he would have made sure she had better security measures.
“I’m impressed,” Brenda said, as she exited the car and admired the colorful landscaping.
Garrett glanced around as they waited on Hailey to answer her door. He turned when he heard the door open. He was taken back when Hailey stood looking as if she stepped off the pages of Essence magazine. Her smooth chocolate skin glistened and the crevices in her dimples seemed to get deeper as she widened her smile and welcomed them in to her home.
She hugged Garrett. The floral fragrance she wore attacked his senses. “Boss man,” Brenda repeated several times.
“Yes Brenda.”
“I’m going to check out the house. You’re coming or staying?” she asked.
“You two go ahead. I’ll take a look around outside.” He didn’t give either a chance to respond before heading out the front door. Garrett was acting like this was his first time meeting Hailey. In fact, it was the opposite. They had been friends since college. He admitted to looking at her as a sister. Well that was stretching, a distant cousin.
