Soul Mates 04: Secrets(53)

By:Jourdan Lane

"He was mine from the moment we met," Nikolas whispered. "I am the mate to his wolf and there's no going back."

And that was the worst possible thing Nikolas could have said. But though I waited for the blows and the roars of anger, they never came. What did happen, however, shocked me to the core. Lucien loosened his grip a little, and there was a mix of him leaning in and pulling Nikolas closer.

"Do you love him?"

"I do, Lucien." Nikolas reached up and smoothed Lucien's hair back. "Love you, too, you stubborn fuck."

Lucien pulled Nikolas even closer and kissed him. Nikolas hesitated for a few seconds, but then grabbed what was left of Lucien's shirt and hauled him closer. One moment they'd been fighting and now&now they were kissing and touching away months and months of jealousy and hurt.

Sabaan nibbled at my neck. "This is better than we could have ever hoped for."

I nodded. "Let's just hope it lasts. Should we&I don't know&join in? Talk to them?"

"I say we sit here and watch one of the hottest shows ever."

That made me smile. Nikolas and Lucien in each other's arms were hot. Smoking hot, actually. There was so much passion and energy behind each and every touch. My jeans began to get tight, but this wasn't about sex and getting off.

Not for me.

This was two people finally coming to terms with who and what they were to each other. When all of this started between me and Nikolas, Lucien had become jealous and lost one of the only men he'd ever felt half-way equal to as a friend. I hated that it had happened, but it wasn't something I.d expected.

I guess I'd thought that since he and Lucien were friends, that everything else would go that much smoother.

Wrong.

They ended up on the couch, kissing, touching, but going no further. They whispered things back and forth and I found myself unable to hear the actual words. When Lucien laughed, Nikolas smacked him.

"Fucking pervert."

I looked at Sabaan. "Shall we?"

"I think so."

We got up from our spot in the corner and went to them. Lucien and Nikolas moved apart enough to let Sabaan and I sit down, and when we did, they leaned in front of us again for another kiss.

Sabaan looked at me. "I wanted them to stop fighting, but this is ridiculous."

Nikolas broke away and grinned at Sabaan. "Don't worry, kitty, it's not like we're going to fuck and use you two as pillows."

"Later, maybe," Lucien added. "Right now, I think the four of us have quite a bit of talking to do. There are decisions to be made and bridges to mend."

"For once, I'm going to have to agree with Mr. Talk Everything to Death," Nikolas said. "I don't want to be back here again in a week because we didn't get everything out in the open..

* * *

"So where do we go from here?" Sabaan asked.

We sat in a half-circle on the couch and in the chairs of Lucien's bedroom, all comfortable and at ease, not even a hint of tension in the air. After fighting and arguing for so long, this was down-right awkward.

Lucien extended his legs and propped his feet on the antique coffee table he always gave me hell for sitting on. "We make up for lost time?"

I grabbed a throw pillow from behind me and threw it at his head. "I don't think he's talking about sex, you deviant."

Nikolas laughed and glanced at me. "We're all deviants."

"I think I'd like to start with an apology," Lucien said, his tone going serious. "Nikolas, Peter&I knew that what was going on between the two of you was out of your control. That the bond that exists between you was too strong to ignore. But I let my jealousy."

"It was your right to be jealous," Nikolas interrupted him. "He was yours first and I didn't care."

"Do you now?" Sabaan asked.

Nikolas nodded.

"I don't think it's fair to sit here and proclaim sudden instant love between the two of you, but."

"Not sudden," Lucien said. "I have always had feelings for Nikolas, but it was he who was never interested in anything more than friendship."

"Sabaan and Peter broke me," Nikolas said with a chuckle. "I never knew how nice it'd be to fuck around with people who cared about you."

"I think Nikolas and I need to spend some time together, get to know each other again. To be honest, I do not know the man who is sitting across from me. I love him, but I do not know him."

"I'm okay with that." Nikolas shrugged. "I haven't changed that much."

Sabaan and I both snorted.

Nikolas rolled his eyes. "Okay, so maybe more than I tend to realize."
