So Far Gone in You(Primal Heat 2)(23)

Olin rushed over when Talyn made to leave. “Is he really in that deep of trouble?”

“He is.”

Olin scratched at his head. “How much is the contract for?”

Talyn growled. “Why, wanna cash in on them?”

Olin narrowed his eyes as he shot a finger at Talyn. “I was just curious. I’m not that low, you know.”

“Then ask Coop.” Talyn stormed down the hall, having taken as much of Olin as he could for one day. He passed Gabriel and Dane on the steps. Talyn snatched a sandwich off the plate and angrily bit into it as he made his way out back.

He frowned when he stepped outside and didn’t see Coop anywhere.

Please don’t let him have gone home to pack by himself.

After gathering his personal items from the bathroom, Coop set the handgun on the bed before he reached into his closet and pulled a gym bag off the top shelf. He tossed it on the bed and then dug through his closet and grabbed some jeans and shirts from their hangers. Coop didn’t bother folding them. He shoved them in and then went to his dresser drawers for underwear and socks.

He paused when he heard the floorboards outside his bedroom squeak. His gun was across the room on his bed. Coop backed away from the dresser with measured, quiet steps. It took ten long strides to reach his bed. The whole time he watched the door, making sure no one jumped into his room with a rifle in their hands.

After scooping the gun up, Coop aimed it at the door and waited. The floorboards squeaked again. Remaining in the middle of the room made him an easy target. It would allow whoever was beyond the door to round the corner and start spraying bullets. That wouldn’t give Coop much of a chance.

He closed the distance and eased behind the door. Now he had the advantage. He was hidden, and the intruder would have to move into the room in order to fire. Of course, they could just make Swiss cheese of the door, but Coop was hoping the intruder wasn’t that smart.

His nerves were frayed, and he was starting to sweat by the time a shadow fell over the carpet. Coop gripped the gun and swung around the door, surprising whoever had come into his home. He shouted and quickly raised the muzzle toward the ceiling before he shot Olin’s fool head off.

“What are you doing here?”

Olin’s eyes were wide as he stared at the gun in Coop’s raised hands. His expression closed down, going blank, as if something had turned off Olin’s switch. Maybe it was the sight of the gun. Not many people liked being around firearms.

Coop tucked the gun into the back of his waistband and then snapped his fingers in front of Olin’s face. “Hey, snap out of it.”

Olin blinked a few times and then looked around Coop’s bedroom. “I just wanted to see if you needed any help.”

It was bad enough that Coop was taking a chance being in his house when he had people after him. Olin shouldn’t have come. Having the guy here put Olin’s life in danger more so than if he’d stayed at Talyn’s. A lead balloon settled in the pit of his gut, a nice, quiet dread as he thought of Olin being harmed.

But Olin was here and, god help him, Coop couldn’t form the words to tell Olin to go back across the street. “You can fold those clothes I shoved into the bag if you wanna help.”

Olin frowned. “You just shoved them in there?”

He went to Coop’s bed and ruffled through the bag. Seeing Olin so close to his bed triggered the Primal Heat—whether he wanted it to come over him or not. Coop’s canines lengthened slightly, and his body grew tight as he watched Olin pull the clothes out and begin to fold them. His eyes grazed over the man’s slight frame, and Coop’s cock thickened.

“You must not have paid attention to what you were grabbing, or you really like this pukish Hawaiian shirt.” Olin held the shirt up as he turned, and then he stilled. “Coop?”

The heat that ignited inside Coop was solid, a wash of flames like a forest fire raging out of control. All logic fled, and the only thing Coop could concentrate on was Olin’s flared backside and those inviting lips.

“I didn’t come over here for that.”

Olin dropped the shirt, and it fluttered to the carpet. The man looked like a deer trapped in headlights. He glanced around but must have realized that the only way out of the room was past Coop.

Coop stalked slowly across the room. He stopped an inch from Olin and then rubbed the pad of his thumb over Olin’s bottom lip. He wanted to feel those sweet lips wrapped around his cock.

The pupils of Olin’s eyes had dilated, and the man’s breathing became shallow as he visibly trembled. He licked his lips, and the tip of his tongue grazed over Coop’s thumb. Coop sucked in sharply as his canines fully lengthened. A purr rumbled heavily in his chest as he caressed his thumb over Olin’s moist lip.
