She Used to Be the Sweetest Girl(74)
“Yes, down the hall. Follow me.”
After spraying the room with Febreze, Brix opened the door. The cool breeze made goosebumps appear immediately against her skin. Walking as quickly as possible to the other room, she tried not to let her entire foot touch the wood floors. Smacking her ass, Shemel grinned. Finally, everything was back kosher and hopefully it would stay that way. Only thing on his agenda to check off now was his decision to sign with Homage. The odds didn’t seem to be against him tonight, so he was surely going to be making a decision pretty shortly. His interest for the streets hadn’t decreased, but simply weren’t satisfying a need he wanted to meet… success. He was ready to make some changes and now with Brix by his side, he was sure it wouldn’t be hard to do. Lyfe Jennings couldn’t have said it any better, “when you got somebody good, you hold onto em’”.

“Yeah, this nigga nice,” Shemel said bobbing his head.
It had been three weeks since his manager contacted Vino and he was finally in the studio with Young Mel. Being the confident young nigga that he was, when Shemel told him to go in there and drop a freestyle to a beat his producer just cooked up, he didn’t hesitate to do just that. Vino had still been seeing Reilyn, who had been ducked low key ever since the fight with Brix. Not because she was scared, but because what her and Bones had planned did not need to be traced back to her. Vino was clueless to the devious plans brewing in the distance. All he wanted to do was make music and get paid while doing so. Everything else was irrelevant.
With the words flowing freely as he spat in the mic, Fatz, Ricky, and Pierre all slapped hands with each other. They knew he was going to be a problem, and with Shemel basically taking him under his wing, there was no way he would fail. There was too much opportunity out here for him to win. Pierre was hardly at the studio, but when he could make it through, he’d be there half the night fucking around. He was proud of his boy for pursuing his dreams, and it was only right that he supported him. With the help of Shemel and his family, Pierre was head of one of the most lucrative drug businesses in STL and it was only growing.
He had some haters in the game wanting to take his spot, saying he didn’t earn it, but Pierre earned his stripes way before his time. Yes, he was young, but when has age ever been an issue when getting to the money? It wasn’t and never would be. The family business was making moves, and with Shemel’s up and coming success, they were sure to see envious niggas coming out the wood works. It’s just how shit went and he would soon find out.
Parked outside on the corner of the street where the studio was located, Reilyn sat with a devious grin on her face. She had been waiting for this day, and the time had finally come. Avoiding Shemel for the last couple of weeks had been easy… he stopped hitting her up. She was sure he found out about the little incident by now and was pissed off that he hadn’t checked on her. Putting a stop to the plan had crossed her mind several times, but she wanted to make Bones proud.
With her daddy breathing down her neck about dating and going to school, she found solace in dealing with Bones. He never pressured her about a thing. He let her do her own thing but always made sure she was taken care of. Their relationship was nothing like her and Shemel’s. Whereas Reilyn was all for anything Mel, he was not. Bones was completely opposite. He adored Rei’s submissive behavior when dealing with him. See, to him it wasn’t about making her fall in love or none of that mushy shit. He simply wanted to be in total control and have her act as the stunt dummy for his missions. Blindsided by what she thought was love, Reilyn conformed.
She had sent a text to Vino over an hour ago asking where he was at. Of course, he told her at the studio with Young Mel. They had discussed the meetup ever since a date had been confirmed through email. Reilyn wanted to make sure all her steps were covered to ensure a smooth getaway. She informed Bones that Shemel and all his cousins kept money, drugs, and jewelry on them at all times. There wasn’t a time she didn’t see them without a couple knots in their pockets. Being a stick-up kid at heart, Bones saw nothing but dollar signs and a way to take down his arch nemesis.
Dialing Bones number, she held the phone to her ear.
“Yeah,” he answered on the first ring.
“They in there. Where you at?”
“We pulling up now.”
Glancing in her rearview mirror, Reilyn could see headlights of the stolen vehicle Bones copped the previous day. It was an old Taurus, with just enough gas in it to get them back to their designated cars. Reilyn was only here to make sure everything ran smoothly. If needed, she had no problem being the getaway car. As long as Bones was safe, she was good.
