Secretly Craving You(42)
Moments later, when he could think again, he remembered he should've withdrawn, but he couldn't. Something within him wouldn't allow it.
No going back. She was his now.
Hell, maybe she always had been from the moment he met her.

Hours later, Emily made coffee and tea, and even started baking blueberry scones, anything to keep herself busy. The cops would need refreshments or breakfast—that was her excuse. She couldn't remember how many questions she'd answered for the police, some of them multiple times. Some of them mortifying, given what the killer had made Nick do at gunpoint.
Remembering the intense arousal that had taken hold of her when Nick had lain behind her and guided his cock into her, she couldn't be sure if it had been magic, or simply her powerful attraction to Nick.
And maybe she had an exhibitionism fetish.
No, that couldn't have been it. She simply hadn't cared whether the pervert had watched or not. Most of all, she'd wanted Nick, and she'd finally had him. Remembering the fullness of his amazing cock inside her, stroking, sliding deep, she grew achy and wet. And the fiercely passionate look in his eyes while he'd made love to her. She wanted him again. Now.
The way he'd held her tight and thrust into her over and over, hard and fast. Nothing had ever felt better. And the way he'd fed her kisses—his taste drove her wild. Then he'd breathed words of praise against her ear, along with her name, sweet endearments and a few ear-scorching curses. He must have been as overwhelmed as she was. At least she hoped he'd enjoyed it as much as she had.
She hadn't a clue what would happen next with him. Would he say goodbye and head to Atlanta without a backward glance? When she imagined that, her chest ached and her throat closed up. Or had his life changed as profoundly as hers had? She hoped and prayed it was the latter. Anytime he'd looked at her during the last couple of hours, her heart nearly bolted from her chest. She was in love with him…and terrified she was the only one feeling this way.
Tears burning her eyes, she shook her head and tried to distract herself by observing the cops in the living room, discussing the case or searching for evidence. Nick stood on the veranda talking to another one.
The intruder—not George at all, but Geoffrey Morris, an archeology professor—had woken up at the hospital with a concussion, Nick had told her. Once the police questioned his wife, they'd learned Jared had an affair with the woman months ago, and that Morris had threatened Jared in front of her. They'd checked Jared's phone records and found several calls from Morris.
Apparently, they had some shady dealings with ancient artifacts. The marble phallus had been stolen and switched hands several times. Homicide had reopened Jared's case. She hoped they'd get a conviction because even though Jared had been an ass, he didn't deserve to be killed.
Tia wove her way through the police officers in the living room and hurried into the kitchen. "Oh my god, Emily! What happened?"
"Want some coffee?"
"Yes, thanks."
Emily poured it. "Where should I start?"
"The beginning."
"The murderer broke another window and came in. Then he held Nick and me at gunpoint."
"I thought Nick had a gun or two."
"Yes, he does, but he'd forgotten them in the other room." Should she tell Tia now why he'd forgotten the guns? She should probably just concentrate on the dangerous situation first. "Turns out Jared had buried a valuable artifact in my garden without me realizing it until a couple of nights ago. And that was what the killer wanted."
Emily relayed most of what had happened, even some of the sexual details. Tia would find out soon enough, anyway, if the story reached the papers…which it most likely would since a murder had been committed. Everyone would want the sordid details.
At the end of Emily's story, Tia's mouth hung open and her eyes were wide. "So you and Nick are…having a fling?" she whispered, then smiled. "Or is it more?"
Before Emily could answer that difficult question, Nick strode into the room, Pierce following.
"You okay?" Nick asked, his concerned, smoky gaze examining Emily.
"Yes, fine." Excitement and heat rushed over her. She couldn't be annoyed that he'd asked her that ten times already, since it meant he cared. At least she hoped it did. He was scrumptious, even though he looked tired from lack of sleep. She wanted to drag him into a closet and lick him all over.
Nick winked at her, gave her a secret smile then glanced at the other two. "Tia, this is Pierce, my partner."
"Nice to meet you, detective." Tia's grin was wide. Obviously, she was having a lust-at-first-sight moment. Instead of shaking her outstretched hand, Pierce kissed the back. Tia almost swooned.
