She smiled up at me and shook her head. “Nope, you did that a month ago.”
“What!? Oh wait. It was when we celebrated our tenth anniversary in Vegas,” I said happily. Since it was just me and Ted when we lost our parents, we felt empty. All the money in the world didn’t help that feeling. My feelings of longing disappeared when I met my Angel. Ted finally had his years of loss disappear eight years ago when he met my eldest son’s pediatrician. We now had a massive family, and it was only growing bigger every year.
I rolled onto my back, pulled my wife to me, and kissed her like I always did—with love.
“I love you, Dean,” she declared as she lifted slightly off of me.
“Where you going, wife? I want to hold you a little longer.” I pushed her back down, so she lay on my chest with my arms around her.

We had both been asleep for hours when Ted pounded on our front door with our youngest in tow three hours later. Angel hurriedly tossed her robe on while I got dressed quick as hell.
I opened the door to the usual look of disappointment from my annoyed brother.
“Damn it, we did it again. We’re sorry, Ted,” she said as she grabbed little Emily from his arms, still asleep. She carried the princess back to her bedroom.
The moment Angel was out of earshot, he asked, “So she called you Uncle Dean again, didn’t she? This is what I get for making this happen, kinky fuckers.”
“You know she did,” I bragged with a grin.
“Well, just let me know in advance that I have to pick her up. Okay?” he grumbled. He was just jealous that his wife had to work the past three days.
“Is today advanced notice enough? I want to celebrate with her tomorrow in private,” I suggested.
Always serious, Ted asked, “What are you celebrating? Your retirement isn’t for another week.”
My grin grew bigger; my face beaming brightly, I bragged, “Baby number seven.”
“Vegas?”
I nodded. “Yep, I guess that did it for us. It’s been three years. I thought the baby making days were done. I guess her body just needed a break.”
“Well, we’re going to need you two to pick up the kids on Wednesday because we have our own celebration planned,” Ted admitted with his own shit-eating grin.
“Congrats, bro,” I said as I hugged my big brother.
He made a face, scrunching his nose. “You might want to wash up before you go back into the office,” he said with a smirk.
I said goodbye to the jerk, then went in search for my wife. I texted the office that I was running late. Not that I was working on anything anyway since I was retiring soon. I wanted to see if I had time for one more round. I checked on my little girl and knew I had at least a half hour.
I heard her in the shower and thought it was perfect. Opening the door, I went in, stripping on my way to join her. I climbed in behind her, gripped her wet hair tightly, and growled, “Say Uncle.”
