Ryder - Caveman Insticts Book Three(37)

By:Hazel Gower

“Lock your doors now and do not get out of your car. Joel is the closest to your location. He’s ten minutes out and I’m a couple of minutes behind him. Do not turn off the phone.”

“Okay,” I choked out as fear started to overtake me. Something was definitely wrong. I placed the phone on the passenger seat. Trying not to freak out, I made sure my car doors were locked. I couldn’t help but jump when one of the men in the police uniform tapped my window. The other policeman stood not too far behind him. I was sure this wasn’t how being pulled over should go.

“Ma’am. Can you please step out of your vehicle?”

What! That wasn’t procedure. They hadn’t asked me to roll my window down and give my information. They hadn’t even stated why they’d pulled me over. My heart rate sped up and I took a deep calming breath. Joel wasn’t far and Chad was close on his heels. I just had to hold out. I shook my head and reached over for my phone, but this time the officer banged on the window. “Ma’am. Please step out of your vehicle.”

I shook my head again. “No,” I yelled. I wasn’t stupid. This didn’t make sense and Chad had told me to stay in the car. He was the bodyguard Ryder gave me and he would know if Ryder was up to something. So something else was wrong and I hadn’t been speeding, and my car was in perfect condition. I knew nothing was wrong with it.

“Ma’am, we are not going to tell you again. Step out of the vehicle.” The other officer came up to the window and he looked a little older than the first young blond one, but not by much.

“May I ask why?” There was no way I was willingly opening my car door, but I had to keep them talking until my bodyguards came.

The officer narrowed his gaze and for a moment looked shocked I wasn’t jumping to obey him and I was asking questions. “We have reason to believe this is a stolen vehicle.”

“Bullshit.” My stomach started to churn and when I saw the blond officer at my passenger window, I hoped that Joel got here soon.

“I beg your pardon ma’am. Are you resisting arrest?” The one at my window asked. He was keeping up the charade of being a cop, I would let him.

“You never said I was under arrest. You just asked me to leave the vehicle.”

I groaned and readied myself when I heard the blond one on my passenger side say, “Greg, we don’t have time for this shit. This is the first she’s been alone. Take her.” Before the last of his words were out, my passenger and driver’s window were smashed.

Screaming as shattered glass fell around me, I grabbed a piece, not caring as it cut into me while I climbed to the back of my car. I had to get away. They could hurt me and I couldn’t fight if I was stuck cowering in the backseat of my car. I could fight them. I had training. I watched trying to decide what to do as they each went to the passenger doors to open them after unlocking the doors. If I attacked I could fight one first and maybe disable him and it would give me a better chance than to fight two people.

I undid the side the younger blond was on, hoping I would have a better chance at fighting him using my training than the older one on my driver’s side. Before I could stand fingers, wrapped around my hair and yanked me up. Thankful for years of self-defense and boxing, I maneuvered out of his hold and round kicked him, then I upper cut him using the glass in my hand to cut his face. His scream of pain was loud and his blood poured over my hands so much the glass slipped from my grip. He let me go and I ran, but didn’t get far before the other grabbed me.

“You stupid bitch. You couldn’t just cooperate so we didn’t have to hurt you?” He held me so tight I knew he broke ribs, but I fought. I didn’t have long before the other would recover and be beyond pissed.

“You fucktard, let me go.” I yelled as I fought. I head butted his chest and scratched at his arms. I knew I should be doing more and the moves I’d had pounded into me faded as the pain took over. When I was dropped, I scrambled to get up and away, but before I could stand my body was shocked with what felt like a lighten bolt and black covered my vision.

“I hope he fucking kills the bitch,” I heard before I couldn’t fight anymore.

I was holding it together barely by a thread. When Chad had called and told me what had happened, I thought he was joking, but an hour later as I waited for Divinity’s father to come into the precinct, I knew the nightmare was real.

The scene where Divinity had been abducted wasn’t a private place. People had fucking driven by as she’d been taken. You could see she’d put up a fight. There was blood, a lot of blood, and hair of different types. The scene had a lot of DNA and there was a rush put on it for results, but I knew it would take hours before I heard anything back. I didn’t know how long we had, because I had no fucking idea who had taken her. The Devil’s Queens had been quiet lately, but there were no bike tracks and after speaking to their acting president and getting the warning at Wet’n’Wild, I was feeling like this wasn’t their work. The scene I’d come across was brutal. Her car windows smashed. Blood on gravel and a trail to a place where another fight had accrued before what looked like s small body, Divinity, fell. The Devil’s Queens were known for using their guns and none had been fired at the scene, so that was another thing that had me thinking it was someone else.
