Ryder - Caveman Insticts Book Three(29)

“I want you. I’m taking you for early dinner.”

It was kind of embarrassing that I was at work and at his simple words made my whole body come alive and I became wet.

“Go. I can finish Mrs. Deblanchet’s nails. You’re okay with that Mrs. Deblanchet?” The woman nodded so fast she looked like a damn bobbly head.

“Thank you, Ma’am. I have to stay back at work late tonight and won’t get to see Divinity before she goes to sleep.” The bright smile Ryder sent to Mrs. Deblanchet had the old woman blushing like a virgin, and the adoration in her gaze wasn’t missed either.

I knew right then that Ryder’s power didn’t just work on me. It must be all the female population. Mrs. Deblanchet was a tough old broad and difficult. She’d been fobbed off on me and I knew it was because I was new and at first would get all the shitty clients.

Ryder had taken me to dinner, but since then I hadn’t been left alone by my work mates. They wanted every detail about him and how I scored a Silverman. I didn’t understand why they were so fascinated. They all acted like I’d done an impossible feat. Personally, I didn’t care that he was a Silverman, but apparently, they were a big deal. The family was not only one of the richest in Australia but was one of the most influential families in the world, with friends in very high places. I didn’t know much as I hadn’t looked Ryder or his family up, but my work friends were at me to do it. I told all my friends that I didn’t care who his family was, and that all I cared about was Ryder himself. It was true. One thing I learned from being an Army brat is that it’s not who your family is, but who you are.

My father was supposed to be home in a day or two, but in a Skype chat yesterday said he was asked to stay an extra week. Arron was happy, he was coming up to his trial HSC, and was already stressed and wasn’t ready for Dad to be on his case. I understood and felt bad I wasn’t disappointed he was staying an extra week too. I was looking forward to having more time with Ryder. Well, when he wasn’t working.

I was worried about my dad though. When I spoke to him on Skype he didn’t seem himself and was agitated and couldn’t give me a time or the right date. It wasn’t until he’d pussy footed around the subject for a good twenty minutes that he told me he was staying an extra week and he didn’t have an exact day he would be home. It wasn’t like him, he was always straight to the point. I knew telling my father about Ryder and everything that had happened over Skype wasn’t right, but with how he sounded lately I was becoming worried about telling him even when he got home. Arron wouldn’t talk to Dad and I was past the stage of forcing him. I left the issue between Arron and Dad be.

Ryder would be home any minute. Tonight, we were ordering take-out, watching Netflix, and relaxing. The only thing I wanted to discuss tonight was about me living with my father for a couple of days when he came home, until he settled in and I told him about my relationship with Ryder and me now living with Ryder. I mentioned to Ryder a couple of times that I wanted to do this, but it had never been resolved. Ryder was determined that I wouldn’t stay anywhere but with him. I knew though, that at least for a couple of days I needed to be with Dad and Arron, even just so I could smooth things out between the two of them. This was something I had to put my foot down on. I gave in to everything else, or more precisely, Ryder used sex to get me to agree to anything he wanted. He was beyond evil. Tonight, we would be discussing this.

I was fucking exhausted. I’d been working doubles and talking to every source I had to try and find out who this new player was. The drugs were out there, but none of the dealers knew who the head of their organization was, they never dealt with the leader, and had only X as a name. X. No first or last name, all they kept saying was X was the leader. They all knew he didn’t like Silvermans either, but me especially I’d learned. That was the most we did know. X was making enemies including The Devil’s Queens, but even they were too scared to retaliate against X, or they were biding their time until we caught and shut down X’s operation. It was also becoming apparent that we had some major leaks in the force as evidence was going missing, and witnesses were ending up dead, even while being protected.

Richard’s clubs were now being targeted so badly that he had raids done almost nightly. Richard’s business should be in trouble, but, the hype had done the opposite and brought people in droves to the clubs. Richard wasn’t happy, because with all the drama, he was having to come in and deal with everything and not leave it all to his management. His brothers, mine, and our cousins had been trying to help him so he could spend time with his baby son, but it had been only a year since he started giving the control of his clubs to management. Before that Richard had done it pretty much all himself with only a little help here and there from family.
