Punk Rock-A-Bye Baby(56)

Tommy squeezed her butt cheek. “It was just a kiss, you horny girl.”

She was horny. Horny as hell. But she had a restriction on sex for four to six weeks. How the hell was she supposed to follow that rule? Intercourse, she reasoned. The restriction was on penetration. There was no reason why she couldn’t enjoy Tommy’s magnificent tongue while Angel fucked him from behind. Her body tingled at the picture in her head, and she felt a throb in her clit. The burn between her legs reminded her why she needed to abstain from sex for the next few weeks, and she resigned to the doctor’s orders with a sigh.

She shuffled back to the bed with her legs wide apart so her stitches didn’t rub together. Sitting on the edge of the bed was uncomfortable, so she settled in the glider. She was overrun with sentiment at the flowers and gifts that dominated the room: lilies from her sisters, chrysanthemums and daisies from her parents, an arrangement in the shape of a giant teddy bear from Tommy’s family, and a dozen Mylar balloons and a gourmet gift basket from Angel’s parents. Her eyes drifted back to her favorite of the bunch – Tommy and Angel’s roses.

She wanted to hold her son and struggled to get to her feet. Sitting and standing was a chore.

“Where are you going, hon?” Tommy held her arm to assist her.

“I want to hold Lucas.”

“Stay. I’ll get him.”

Lucas cooed as his father lifted him from the basinet, now with ease and confidence. The baby made another series of gurgles, and Tommy smiled at his son. “I think we have another singer on our hands.”

Jessi laughed. “I don’t know if I can handle that.” Angel still sang incessantly throughout the house, and the cathedral ceilings amplified his powerful voice. She took her son into her arms and watched him. He stared back at her with his father’s eyes. She didn’t know if she would ever tire of holding him.

The familiar rat-a-tat-tat on the door announced Jimmy’s arrival, and he stuck his head in the room. “Okay if we come in?”

“Of course. He just woke up.”

Jimmy clapped his hand on Tommy’s shoulder and pulled him in for a hug. “Congrats, man. Welcome to fatherhood.” Jimmy turned to Angel and embraced him in a hug. “Daddy number two. What a lucky kid. Congrats, my friend.”

Mason was with them. As soon as he saw Lucas, he ran to the side of Jessi’s chair. He was in awe of the baby, with his eyes wide and curious.

“Say hi to Lucas, Mason.”

Mason slowly waved his hand, captivated by the tiny baby.

Audra was full of her usual bubbly enthusiasm. “Congratulations, you guys!” She leaned over the chair to take a look at Lucas. “What a gorgeous baby! Hi Lucas!” She let out a happy sigh. “He really is beautiful. Kira sends her love. She wanted to come, but she didn’t want to bombard you with visitors.” Audra rested her hand on Mason’s shoulder. “Do you like the little baby?”

Mason slowly nodded his head. “Is he my brother?”

Jimmy laughed. “No, but he can be your cousin. And maybe Uncle Tommy will teach him how to play the guitar, and the two of you can play music together. Would you like that, Mase?”

He nodded his head enthusiastically. “Okay, but I still want a brother.”

“We’ll get right on it for ya, kid.” He flashed his famous smile at Audra before he leaned over to introduce himself to Lucas. “Hey, little buddy. I’m your Uncle Jimmy.” He glanced at Tommy. “You look just like your old man. We have another lady killer on our hands, folks!” He tickled Lucas’s belly, and the baby wrapped his little hand around Jimmy’s finger. “Whoa, you’ve got some grip. Maybe you’ll be a drummer.”

“No chance. My kid’s playin’ the axe.” Tommy leaned over the edge of Jessi’s chair. “Isn’t that right, Lucas?” The baby gazed back at Tommy. Baby blues meeting ocean blues. “What? You want a Les Paul?” Tommy smiled proudly at his friends. “That’s my son.”

Angel joined them and knelt next to the other side of the chair, also smiling down at Lucas. Jessi was enveloped by her little family. It filled her with so much warmth she thought she would burst.

“Well if that isn’t a Kodak moment, I don’t know what the hell is.” Alyssa stood in the doorway with Damien. She threw her handbag on the table next to the door and the heels of her thigh-high boots clicked across the tile floor. She high-fived Tommy. “Kudos, Daddy.” Then she gave Angel a poke in the ribs. “Congrats, Papi.” She stood back with her hands on her hips, which made her leather vest spread open to expose her tattooed chest. She made eye contact with Jessi, and they shared a silent moment of profound friendship. Alyssa, usually filled with an array of saucy remarks, turned humble. “Congratulations, Jessi. I couldn’t be happier for you.” Her humility washed away with a deep breath. “Now let’s take a look at that little peanut.”
