Jessi was long done. She gasped for air and hung onto his neck. Her legs were no longer extended up and around Angel’s hips. They fell to the bed, lifeless.
Angel was slowing down and getting soft. The pressure in Tommy’s bottom weakened, reducing the sensations that filled him. It was different, but still pleasurable. It wasn’t the usual battering ram that bludgeoned him from the inside. Now it was a sleek, slippery vibration that ground against him.
While Angel pulsed and undulated Tommy’s back end, Jessi milked him from the front. She clenched her muscles, and her insides fluttered around his cock. Every movement, every thrust of his hips, made him breathe deeper and sent a reverberation down his legs and up his spine. He felt every nerve ending tingle. He had never felt so alive. The sensations washed over him and set him on fire. He came with a deep grunt, and his body went limp. His arms and legs shook with fatigue like he had just been electrocuted. He dropped to his elbows and rested his cheek against Jessi’s breast. She kissed the top of his head and Angel kissed his shoulder.
Slowly, Tommy and Angel tumbled onto the bed.
The three of them were spent, yet their love making was gentle. They were exhausted by the power of their love.
Chapter Fifteen
After eight months, three weeks and four days, Baby Blade wanted out. Jessi’s hands went to her belly, and she felt the movement inside her. Her nervous laughter was cut short by a sharp, stabbing pain. Her body jerked, and she grunted. All breathing and pain management techniques fled her mind at the intensity of the contraction.
“What happened?” Tommy dropped his Fender onto the couch in the great room and darted to the mantel where she stood with a puddle of fluid between her feet.
It took another few seconds before the pain subsided enough for Jessi to take a breath and answer. “The baby.”
“Oh my God!”
Angel already had his cell phone to his ear and was speaking to the doctor.
“Was he programmed into your contacts?” she joked.
“Of course. And your overnight bag is all packed for the hospital.” Now that the birth of the baby was imminent, Angel was serious and take-charge. The consternation and solemn crease in his brow gave way to his worrisome thoughts. His concern for . . . everything hampered his enthusiasm.
“I’ll be okay, Angel. People have babies every day.” She wondered if she was trying to reassure herself with the statement. With two men who were both nervous wrecks, she needed to stay centered. Otherwise, the three of them would be a basket case by the time they reached the hospital.
“I know,” Angel brushed his lips across her cheek. “But those people aren’t you.”
Tommy gazed at her with an incredible smile. His eyes were lit up with an array of emotions: excitement, love, hope, anticipation and relief. “We’re going to meet our son.”
Happy tears infiltrated Jessi’s vision. She brought her fingers to her lips to steady them, and nodded. Her other hand covered the circumference of her belly. The day was here. She would finally get to hold her son.
Angel returned with her suitcase and his keys in his hand. He stopped and locked eyes with Tommy. They exchanged an intimate gaze and a smile. “You’re going to be a daddy.” There was both envy and admiration projecting from the light in Angel’s eyes.
Jessi watched the realization pass over Tommy’s face, and his smile weakened. She knew his apprehension lied in his strained relationship with his father and the fear of failing his son. “You’re going to be a wonderful father, Tommy. I know you—”
The pain made Jessi’s knees buckle and she doubled over, clutching her lower abdomen. Her lips pulled back into a wide grimace while breaths puffed from her nostrils. A few more deep breaths and it was over. The pain subsided, but she knew it was only a mild contraction and they would intensify, both in magnitude and in frequency.
Her suitcase was strewn on the floor and Angel’s arm was around her shoulder. Tommy’s hand was coursing up and down her back with strong, soothing strides. Now that the pain was gone, the attention was nice. She wiped the beads of perspiration from her forehead and attempted to act unfazed. “It wasn’t that bad.”
Tommy was frazzled. “Sit for a minute. Do you want some water?”
He tried to guide her back to the couch, but she resisted. “I want to give birth to our baby in a hospital, not in the middle of the great room.” She was joking. The contractions were still too far apart, but it pushed Tommy and Angel into full gear. They each took her by the arm and guided her into the car.
Lucas Angel Blade came into the world screaming like a rock star. He wasn’t crying. He hollered like a hellion and announced his birth. Now that he was wrapped in a soft, blue blanket and resting in Jessi’s arms, he was content. She couldn’t stop staring at the beautiful sight of her son. He had his daddy’s flaxen hair and looked back at her with deep blue eyes. Her heart overflowed with so much love and happiness that her giddy laugh turned into a happy sob. “I love you, Lucas.”
