“Perhaps …” Harrier sighed. “Perhaps Buffalo Bird’s foolishness shouldn’t continue to guide my life.” His brows pulled together. He wanted to go home. When his brothers had refused to join him in a battle against Sunchaser, he’d felt alone and frightened. The feeling had only grown worse in the past few days. “Yes, Horseweed, you have my word.” And with that, he sank down on the grass and exhaled a deep breath. “I will leave them, and you, alone.”
At that, Horseweed nodded and lowered his weapons. But he didn’t look at Harrier. His eyes had riveted on the people on the beach. A smile touched his young face. “Live long, Harrier. I can already tell that you will be a great and wise leader someday.”
