Things were not quite so straightforward with Gabe’s family…
After much soothing from Kira Gabe did agree to actually talk to his father on the phone. It was a fraught and difficult conversation. His father was pleased that Gabe had taken a mate; he wanted Gabe and Kira to visit but Gabe needed more time. Maybe one day he would be able to forgive his father but Kira wouldn’t push him.
Kira decided to keep working at the Diner. She enjoyed it and loved the fact that it was right next door to the Sheriff’s station. Plenty of opportunities for stolen kisses and caresses.
Kira was also able to take over some of Carly’s responsibilities as the Omega. Thanks to this Carly had some free time to do other things. At Rosalee’s insistence Adam purchased the empty shop next to Pizza Moon, the town pack owned pizzeria, so that Carly could open a cake shop. Carly was bubbling with excitement.
Kira was also gratified to find out her instincts about Don the pack tracker and Kayleigh had been spot on. After the snowstorm it was all over town that the two of them had bonded. Apparently they had spent the storm holed up in Don’s cabin, much like Kira and Gabe had done. She was pleased for the couple.
Eventually, after much sweet-talking from Kira, Gabe went horse riding again. Gabe made sure he stayed the hell away from Beelzebub, this time he tried Old Glue and found him to be a wonderful horse. Their pack mate Hunter may have laughed but Gabe ignored him. The ribbing was worth it just to see Hunter’s disgruntled face when Kira and Gabe returned hours later disheveled and their clothes buttoned up wrong. Yep, Gabe soon realized just how much fun horse riding really could be.
At the next full moon Kira was inducted into the pack and the mating between Gabe and Kira (along with Kayleigh and Don’s mating) was announced to the pack.
Kira was thrilled. After everything she’d been through in the last couple of years she had a pack who welcomed her with open arms, friends, a job she loved and the most wonderful man on earth.
Everything was freaking perfect. Mine.
