Pacific Northwest Werebears(8)

Turning back to the man speaking rather animatedly at him he nodded a few times and started walking to a black pickup truck, the one Wyatt picked her up in last night. Giving the lot one last scanning look, he hopped in and backed out.

Sophie couldn’t help but wonder if this was THE Mr. Rochon. He was cuter than Wyatt if that was possible and obviously bigger. And when his gaze had scanned her direction, even through the sunglasses, Sophie felt a tingle flash through her.

Clearly she was out of practice in the man department. She wasn’t brave enough to fly with her favorite battery operated boyfriend in her luggage, so she would have to take care of any personal issues by hand so to speak.

Turning back to her menu plan, she got settled down to figure out how the heck to keep fifty men fed and happy.

A few hours later, Sophie started in on her dinner plans. Not sure what time the men would be getting back. She planned on meals that would keep tonight. She made up huge trays of beef and mushroom lasagna with white sauce. She’d whipped up a couple dozen loaves of french bread in the afternoon to turn into garlic bread. Finding bags of frozen string beans, she worked them into a browned butter sauce, and for dessert she put together a lemon curd cake that she had to modify to fit into the industrial-sized trays.

All in all, she was quite pleased with her work. She wouldn’t be earning any Michelin stars, but she wouldn’t be ashamed to show her instructors what she’d managed to whip up in the middle of the woods either.

The men started trickling in around six thirty. Some stopped to clean up or shower before dinner. The latecomers came in dirty and exhausted. But they were all more than ready with a kind word and appreciation for the warm meal.

Wyatt stopped in to pick up another plate for Cage, saying that the boss rarely had time to eat with the men. Sophie started to feel bad for him, he must work very hard for his company. She made sure to cut an extra large piece of cake for him to send along with Wyatt. She got a wink and a cheek kiss for that.

Her evening was more predictable after she cleaned up from dinner. She was exhausted and now her jet lag was catching up with her. Her plan was for porridge with honey and scrambled eggs and bacon in the morning. So she didn’t need to be up too early.

She showered and managed to fall face first into her bed and was asleep in minutes. She dreamed about sandy blond haired men and hot wet kisses.

Waking up to her alarm ringing, her dreams were still clinging to her. She took a moment to remember how delicious her dream was. She saw the man that she assumed was her boss, stepping out of the woods. He wasn’t wearing any clothing, he had dirt and bits of leaves and twigs in his hair. He was walking like he didn’t have a care in the world. Behind him, coming through the brush was a large brown bear. Sophie wanted to yell out and warn him to look behind him. But she watched as he turned towards the bear lumbering his way and he waved.

Was he crazy? The bear slowed, coming up to him and in a shimmer of light the bear became Wyatt, standing just as naked as Cage. Cage gave Wyatt a cuff on the shoulder and they both walked towards the building marked as the lavatory.

Staring at the ceiling, Sophie first tried to figure out why she was thinking about her boss naked. And secondly, why on earth did she think about him as a bear? People weren’t bears, did she miss some kind of memo? Was this just the norm in the rugged rainforest of the Pacific Northwest?

Clearly she’d heard too many Bigfoot stories before she moved and her poor brain mushed them all together with her hot boss, equally hot baby brother, and the need for a serious orgasm or two.

Looking at the clock Sophie decided fresh air was much more her priority this morning than an orgasm. Jumping up she managed to throw on some warm clothes and headed outside to take a walk before she had to get busy in the kitchen.

Chapter 8

Stepping out into the cool crisp air, Sophie took a deep breath. The air was so fragrant and clean here. It made a body feel good, just letting it seep into your lungs.

She took off to walk the tree line just outside the perimeter of the buildings. She didn’t stray too far into it, just enough that she could still see the camp, but far enough to enjoy the brush of the ferns across the forest floor flowing over her legs.

Seeing a small bunny scamper to her right, Sophie kept her slow pace. She realized for the first time she was truly on her own. No family to fall back on, she couldn’t even go home without a huge amount of effort. This was her new start. She was making her own choices and was going to grab this experience and grow. She wanted to show them just because she didn’t look like them or make the same choices the rest of them made, didn’t mean she couldn’t succeed.
