“I know and you didn’t have any part in that, so let it go. It’s not your fault.”
“Okay good, just wanted to make sure,” he says looking relieved.
“It’s fine and things worked out the way they were supposed to,” I say just as Liam’s phone starts ringing.
“Sorry, I need to take this,” he says, as he answers the phone and heads towards the kitchen.
I grab my phone and see a few missed texts from Quinn asking what happened, so I respond letting her know and also filling her in that things are fine and I now own this house.
“Hey, sorry, Spence is calling me to hang out, though I’m not sure how he knows I’m here,” he says looking confused.
“If he passed the house, he may have seen your car.”
“Yeah, maybe, who knows? I told him I’d come over to hang out. Are you going to be alright?”
“I’ll be fine. Have fun and thank you.”
“Take care of yourself Hails.”
“You too,” I say as he heads out the door.
I spend the rest of the day unpacking all of my shit and hanging out at the house that I now own. As much as I would have loved to live in this house with Liam, I know I need to move on. He’s made no move to show he wants us to be back together and I can’t keep wishing it.
I think the nail in the coffin for me was when he told Brody that he wasn’t in love with me anymore. It hurts like hell, but maybe it was what I needed to hear in order to move on with the rest of my life. Now I have a house, I’m heading to London in five months, and the world is there for my taking.
Chapter Four
Three months later and life is going well. “What time is Kenzie getting here?” Quinn asks.
“She should be here in about two hours, why?”
“Because there’s something I need to ask you,” she says nervously.
“Okay, what’s up?”
“I kind of have a crush on someone,” she says without looking at me.
“That’s great, who is he?”
“You know him.”
“Even better, who?” I ask intrigued. She looks at me nervously, “Tell me already.”
“If you don’t like it, I won’t pursue anything,” she says hesitantly.
“Just tell me already,” I push.
“Brody.”
“Seriously?” I ask surprised, because he doesn’t really seem to be her type.
“Do you hate me?”
“No, why would I hate you?”
“Because he’s your best friend too.”
“I think it would be awesome if you two dated, just know if you two ever fight, you will not pull me into the middle of it.”
“He doesn’t know I like him.”
“Why not?”
“Because I wanted to make sure you were okay with it first before I said anything to him. Plus, there’s a good chance he doesn’t feel the same way about me.”
“Are you kidding? Why would he not like you?”
“I don’t know. I know he’s not typically my type, but there’s just something about him.”
“He’s great and I think it would be awesome if you two got together.”
“Good. I will say something to him then,” she says excitedly.
“Oh, by the way, if you want to stay here during the summer you can. You don’t have to go home when I’m in London.”
“Are you sure?”
“Hell yes, I’m sure.”
“Thank you Hails,” she says as she gives me a hug.
“Anytime. Remember, we need to head over to the house tonight for a party.”
“I won’t forget, it’s not very often we have a party at our sorority house.”
“Hey,” Brody says as he comes into the house.
“Hey you.”
“Hi,” Quinn says looking a little shy, “Are you coming with us to the sorority house tonight?”
“Umm, yeah that’s what I wanted to talk to you about,” he says looking directly at me.
“What’s up?”
“Liam is up visiting Spence, do you mind if those two tag along?”
“That’s fine. You know Liam and I talked, everything’s good between us,” I tell him.
“I know, but I wanted to make sure?” he asks, looking worried.
“Yeah, it’s fine.”
“Good,” he says with a smile. “How soon is Kenz getting here?” Brody asks, changing the subject.
“She should be here within the hour.”
“Okay.”
“Everything alright?” Quinn asks, looking at Brody.
“Oh yeah, everything’s great,” he says quickly. “The guys are gonna meet us here and then we can all head over together, if that’s cool?”
