One More Chance (Part 2)(12)

“Why would I do that?”

“Because you aren’t over Haley.”

“You are wrong,” I argue.

“I’m not wrong and you need to try to fix it before you lose her forever.”

“You are wrong. I don’t want Haley. We tried us; it didn’t work. I moved on; she needs to do the same.”

“Yet if she does, how’s that going to make you feel Liam?” she asks as she watches me closely.

“Fine, I don’t care what she does.” I say, lying my ass off. Of course I’m going to care and whatever dickhead she dates better treat her amazing or I’ll personally kick his ass.

“That’s bullshit and you know it,” she says calling my bluff.

“No, it’s not.”

“Just know, when you do truly lose her, you will have no one to blame but yourself. Hails is great and one of these days she is going to open herself up again and when she does, you can bet your ass, some guy is going to swoop in and sweep her off her feet.”

“I hope so.”

“You’re going to wish it was you though,” she says before walking away.

“Fuck,” I shout as I run my hands through my much shorter hair.

“What’s wrong?” Brody asks as he comes through the door.

“Nothing,” I lie.

“Hails?” he asks with a knowing look.

“She won’t take the house,” I say changing topics.

“No shit,” he says laughing.

“Why won’t she take the house?” I ask frustrated.

“You know Haley dickhead, she doesn’t take handouts. Not from you, not from anyone.”

“But it’s not a fucking handout.”

“No, you’re right it’s not. It’s you trying to give her you guys’ house. Can you see why she wouldn’t want to own that house?”

“Fine, then we’ll sell the damn thing.”

“Or you could fix things and move into it,” Brody suggests.

“Fix what?”

“You and Haley.”

“Fuck, you sound like Kenzie right now. When the hell did you two become fucking cheerleaders? You two never wanted us together, now you’re both trying to fix us, you can’t, there’s nothing to fix.”

“Are you sure about that?”

“Yes, she made her choice. I moved on, I’m happy,” I practically shout.

“She asked for a break asshole, you made the choice to leave, not her.”

“She knew the choices and she did what she had to and so did I.”

“Are you happy with your choice?”

“I am,” I say quickly.

“So you aren’t in love with Haley anymore?” he asks calling me out.

“No, I’m not,” I lie. Of course I still love her, but she made her choice.

“I don’t believe you,” he says.

“I don’t care what you believe, it’s the truth. I’ve moved on, she needs to do the same. If she wants to sell the house, we will sell the stupid house, I honestly don’t care,” I snap.

“You can sell the stupid house. I’ll be out by the end of the week,” Haley says out of nowhere.

“Shit. Hails you can stay in it as long as you want,” I say trying to recover what she’s heard.

“I don’t want anything that has to do with you. I’m leaving tomorrow to go pack, I’ll be out within the next few days and you can put it up for sale,” she says before running out of the room.

“Fuck,” I shout pulling on my hair, angry at myself.

“Fix it dude,” Brody says like it’s nothing.

“Fix what?”

“You’re not over her.”

“How the fuck would you know?”

“Because even though you aren’t with her, you’re still trying to take care of her, you still look at her with that stupid look in your eyes.”

“What look?” I ask pissed off.

“That you fucking love her. Now go fix this, so we can all move on with our lives.”

“There’s nothing to fix,” I say before walking out of the room. I need some fresh air.

Haley

“Stupid fucking asshole,” I mumble as I throw clothes in my bag.

“What are you doing?” Kenzie asks as she sits on my bed.

“I’m leaving,” I yell as I throw more clothes in my bag.

“Why? To go where?”

“Michigan.”

“What? Why?” she asks confused.

“Liam’s an asshole. I need to go move out of the house.”

“He’s kicking you out?” she practically screams.

“No, he’s not kicking me out, but I want nothing to do with him, so I told him I would be out by the end of the week, so he can put the house up for sale.”
