One Chance (Part 1)(77)

By:T. Renee Fike.

“Why not?” she asks looking lost.

“Seriously Kenz, look at the man. He could have any woman he wants; he isn’t going to settle for me.”

“What?” she shrieks, “There’s nothing wrong with you. He would be lucky to have you.”

“I’m just not that super model material.”

“You’re better.”

“You have to say that, we’re twins,” I say with a smile.

“And I’m hot, which means you’re hot too,” she says with a stern look.

“Yes, we are two hot bitches,” I say as I throw my arm around my sister’s shoulder and laugh.

“Damn straight we are,” she says as we clink drinks before taking a drink.

“What’s so funny?” Liam asks from behind us. We turn to see him, Brody, and Ryan one of his teammates.

“Just girl stuff,” Kenzie says hastily, “What happened tonight?”

“Had an off night I guess,” he says softly.

“So kick ass in the next game,” I quip.

He gives me a half smile, “I plan to.”

“I was thinking, we should leave here soon, so we can all hang out before we leave tomorrow morning,” Kenzie says.

“You do realize it’s already midnight?” I ask.

“Yeah, that’s why we can go hang out, talk, bullshit like we always do before calling it a night,” she says like it’s the most brilliant idea in the world.

“Sure,” I say ready to leave the party.

“Umm…,” Liam starts to stutter, “Do you care if I bring someone along?” he asks, looking intently at me.

“No, bring whoever you want,” Brody states.

“Okay, we can go to my house then,” Liam says, “I’ll just go get her and we can be on our way,” he says before walking away.

“Who’s he getting?” Kenzie asks confused.

“Probably Bree,” I mumble. Maybe this wasn’t such a good idea after all.

“Who’s Bree?” she asks confused.

“The girl he likes,” I say. Brody gives me a confused look, but doesn’t say anything.

Just then Liam walks towards us with a girl beside him. She’s tall, I’d say 5’10”, with long blonde hair, blue eyes, but not nearly as blue as Liam’s, and she’s super model thin. She’s the girl you would expect on his arm. She’s beautiful and I hate her.

“Hey guys this is Bree,” he says introducing us to her. We all say hi and then turn to leave. We make the walk back to Liam’s house and all go inside to hang out. All consists of me, Kenzie, Brody, Liam, and Bree.

“You guys want anything to drink?” Liam asks kindly.

“Yeah, I’ll take a beer,” Kenzie says and Brody agrees.

“I’ll just take water,” I state.

“Baby, do you have any more of that wine I like? Bree asks sounding drunk already.

“I think so,” he says before walking to the kitchen.

He comes back with our drinks before walking back out to get the rest of them. We sit down and no one really says anything at first.

“How do you all know each other?” Bree slurs.

“Oh shit, sorry,” Liam says, “Brody’s my brother, that’s Kenzie and Haley. We all grew up together,” he says.

“So you can tell me all Liam’s dirty secrets right?” she asks animatedly.

“There are no secrets to tell,” Liam says quickly.

“Please, I bet there is,” she giggles.

“No, he’s pretty boring,” Brody says with a straight face.

“I’m not boring,” he argues.

“Yeah, you kind of are,” Kenzie says jokingly.

“How am I boring?” he asks harshly.

“You don’t have fun or joke around anymore, you’re boring,” Brody says again with a straight face.

“What, that’s bullshit. I go out, I have fun, I am fun,” he yells, causing all of us to laugh, “You all are a bunch of assholes,” he says as he storms out of the room pissed off.

“Aww, see you can’t even take a joke, you big baby,” Brody yells.

“Screw you man,” he says as he comes back with a bottle of liquor.

“Planning on getting drunk?” Kenzie asks eyeing the bottle.

“Well, I left the party right after getting there, so yeah I think I deserve a drink,” he says as he takes a swig from the bottle.

“Baby don’t be upset,” Bree coos as she moves closer to him.

“I’m not,” he says as he takes another swig.

“Are you coming home for Christmas?” Kenzie asks changing the topic.

“I’m not sure yet,” Liam says.

“Why not? You don’t have a game,” Brody says bitterly.
