Had she needed to be a part of his life? She now slept through the night, at least on nights he didn’t wake her up and make her insides melt. She had finally made peace with the past, by dealing with her present. It was a slow process, but the memories that had made her want to cry or shy away from them, now gave her a joy that no amount of money or thank you could every repay.
She had needed him in her life as much as he had needed her. She simply hadn’t known.
“Do you want a thank you for invading my life?” She kept her face perfectly neutral, if only she could control her eyes. She felt them twinkling from her joy with him.
“A kiss maybe. Your beautiful lips against mine?” His eyebrows lifted as he fought the smile playing on his lips.
In the midst of turmoil, he was there for her. His easy smile at times made her forget that someone was after her. He made her feel that everything would turn out alright. Yeah, she needed this male in her life. She would rather fight for what she had, then sit in the dark hiding away from the world. She had tried that once. Pretending ignorance was a type of darkness that could eat your soul.
“Are you ready?”
She walked up to him and pressed her lips against his. Feeling his tongue lick against the seam of her mouth, she opened. The taste of him made her give a small moan in the back of her throat. For a minute, everything except Niko slipped away.
She felt the love he had surrounding her, flowing over and through her.
Finally, breaking the kiss, she answered his question. “Yes, I am ready.”
Chapter Twenty-eight
Niko and his brothers filled the game room. Add in the presence of Dante, and the huge room suddenly felt like a tight closet filled with alien testosterone. What she wouldn’t give for a camera at that very moment. If she could get these males on a calendar, she could make a fortune.
She smiled at the thought of Niko spread out with nothing but silk covering his waist. It was enough to send her down her own private path of lust.
“I will make that happen later kitten, but right now I need you to focus.”
Her face went red with embarrassment. She pulled her mind back and tried to concentrate on the plans.
Aran was talking. “We will get there right as darkness begins to fall, keeping the element of surprise on our side. We will be taking the modified jeeps that have been redone to make no noise. This will allow us to sneak in without announcing ourselves.” He had looked directly at Dee as he explained himself.
She nodded. It was crucial to have something to give them the element of surprise. No matter how sure she had acted with Niko, she still remembered the hell she went through and didn’t want to volunteer for a repeat performance.
She looked over at Rena and noticed that she was wearing a hair piece that was similar to hers. She caught her eyes and then lifted her hand to her hair. Rena nodded and touched her hair. Aran had outfitted her with a weapon also.
If one of the brothers loved you, they loved you all of the way. You were not just his mate. You were part of the family. You became created. It was more of a commitment than becoming a Jones or a Smith or any other last name out there. You made a commitment that really was ‘until death do you part.’ Any and all of these males standing here would lay down their lives for you.
How could she ever walk away from that? She couldn’t. She had been lost the moment she had looked into Niko’s eyes at that meet and greet. She wouldn’t have it any other way.
She followed them out of the door to find three modified jeeps. Aran, Rena and Sergey climbed into the first one.
Niko and Dante climbed into the second one and she followed them in. The other brothers climbed into the last one.
Each had explicit directions on how to get to the address that Hale had traced down. They would each approach from a different side. The plans now would be coordinated on the mental path they all shared.
They sat still with no one moving. There were no jeeps roaring silently to life. She looked at Niko. He was staring at her.
“Kitten, I want you to be a full-fledged member of my family.”
“I thought I was.”
“You are, but I want you to be able to access the common path that will allow you to hear and speak with my brothers. I know that is a lot when you are only just beginning to learn to speak with me.”
She had known they were all talking. She hadn’t known that she could be a part of it also.
“I want to be a part.” She didn’t ask what came next, because the last time it involved a bite, but a bite from Niko didn’t bother her.
She was seated in the back of the jeep. The door on the opposite side of her opened and Aran took the seat next to her. He met her look and stared at her while his fangs dropped. She wouldn’t be getting bitten by Niko that much was clear to her.
