Niko(Love Me Harder #2)(18)

By:Serena Simpson

She nodded her head, but didn’t meet his eyes. She would have to wait and see what happened. “What do we do while we are waiting for him to come?”

“Hale developed this virtual reality game that feels so real. Would you like to play?”

He looked so excited at the prospect of playing, that she had to say yes. He was probably just excited about kicking her butt in the game. He took her to a game room that reminded her somewhat of Aran’s.

“We all have a room like this. It’s a central meeting place in our homes when we get together.”

He took her to a love seat that sat in front of a huge screen. “I am going to attach these to the side of your head. Don’t worry, you will forget they are there. They will allow you to feel like you’re actually in the game.”

She got comfortable while he got himself together. “Where’s the controller?”

“You will do it with your thoughts. Don’t worry, you will see how it works.”

The screen came on and the scene in front of her spread out to touch her. She felt like she was wearing 3D glasses.

Her avatar walked on out. She almost fell off the couch. This was how she saw herself, not painfully thin and scared to eat. No, she was blessed with the same beautiful breasts except now she had an ass that would make men crash, she had legs that seemed to go on forever and one of those muscled stomachs she could never achieve no matter how much she worked out.

She was flexing her arms and jumping up and down, getting a handle on how to control her avatar. She was going to kick his butt in this game. She looked down at her feet and found a weapon.

She loved it. It was small, but it looked deadly. She tried to pick it up, but couldn’t grasp it.

“You have to link with it. Once you do, it’s yours. No other can use it.”

“How do I do that?”

“Concentrate on it. Feel the weapon hum, almost as if it has a voice of its own. When you feel it, follow the path with your mind. You will see it flash a bright blue. Don’t pick it up. Just connect with it.”

She was crazy pretending to connect with a weapon in a VR game, but she wanted it, so she did what he said.

She felt the hum and she followed it. It was more like the hum led her. She felt a connection in her mind, then it flashed bright blue.

She cheered. She had done it.

“Nicolas is here. We will continue our game later.”

Chapter Eleven

Coming out of the game had been like leaving a new world. She hadn’t expected to be so sucked into it in such a short time. She blinked her eyes as she readjusted to the reality she knew.

“Dee, how are you?”

“Nicolas stood in front of her. He was one of the brothers. There were a total of six of them. She really didn’t know much about the order they were born in, except that Aran was the eldest and Sergey the next in line.

Nicolas had navy blue eyes. The color had always made her a little tense. They weren’t human looking. She laughed it off once again. Of course he was human. He had rich blue black hair that reminded her of the depth of color in the hair of many Native Americans. He was tall and slender, not as wiry as Niko, but hot none the less.

“I am fine Nicolas. It’s nice to see you again.”

He smiled at her. “Most people aren’t that excited to see me when I have to examine them.”

“See, I am different. I love going to the doctor.”

His smile widened and she laughed. Seriously, these guys seemed to bring out the best in her, even when she was trying for the worst.

“So where does this exam take place?”

“I think we can use one of Niko’s spare rooms.”

She followed Nicolas out until she realized Niko had not moved.

“Aren’t you coming?”

“I don’t want to make you feel uncomfortable.”

“Too damn bad. There will be no exam if you’re not in the room.”

He smiled at her and followed them up the stairs.

She had gone to the room she had shared with Niko last night and put on something loose, that was almost everything in her bag. Now she was sitting on the side of a guest bed as Nicolas checked her.

Eyes, ears, nose and throat. He checked her reflexes and asked her why she was losing weight. He went over her medical history. She had laid on her back while he had pressed and felt over her torso.

Now he was examining her back. She stiffened when his hands went to the back of her neck. His fingers worked their way up until he was pressing around the spot she had been cut. There was no scar there. She had checked it herself, but he seemed to know the exact spot.

“Tell me what happened, Dee.” He had slipped into his doctor voice, the non-threatening one meant to reassure her.
