“I sure would since I don’t have to be stuck in the kitchen, I would love a field trip. We should get the paint for the bathroom while we’re there.”

“Good idea.” Curtis handed the phone back then with a very silly look on his face.

“She’s coming over for dinner.” He grinned. “After a bubble bath.” Curtis leaned over and kissed Harper’s cheek. “Thank you.” He whispered.

“Anytime.” Harper laughed. “How much paint do we need for the bathroom? We’re going to get some for the living room. Two birds you know?” He nodded.

“Get a couple gallons of primer and a gallon of paint. We’ll need to prime the walls in the bathroom and in here, and then it’ll take a gallon for the bathroom. You’ll probably need two in here. If you decided on something that they have to mix get three just in case.” Harper nodded. “And Harper, thank you. I mean it.”

“Sure. I’d do anything for you and for Sid. Besides, if you mate her, we can hang out again. I miss her.”

“It hasn’t been that long.” Ryder grumbled and she twined her fingers in his.

“No but I know if she stays over there it will be a long time.” Ryder kissed her temple. “Let’s go.”





Chapter 19


Harper climbed into bed later that night. Her muscles were sore but it was a good kind of sore. Cindy and Ryder helped her paint the living room. It looked much better now. The paint had primer built in so there was no waiting. Lucy learned how to paint molding and she was quite good at it. They’d decided to wax the floors instead of varnish because Harper didn’t think they were so bad that they needed refinished. Lee and Jack were doing that now.

Nicole and Kelly fixed dinner and it was surprisingly edible. Harper expected it to be horrible so Nicole would never have to do it again. Nicole surprised her after dinner and volunteered to make breakfast as well. Harper was glad that her wolf had taken the female down and proved that she was Alpha. Hopefully, she would never have to do it again but she would if she had to.

Now, Harper lay down with her sore muscles and waited for her mate to get out of the shower. She pulled the quilt up to her chin but she wasn’t sleepy yet. She was on edge for some reason and couldn’t stop thinking about Ryder’s body all day. He’d growled at her twice. It was the same growl he used in the bedroom. She wanted him. Now.

Sidney and Curtis were out but had eaten dinner with them. They only had eyes for each other. The other single wolves in the pack were checking Sidney out at dinner but Curtis quickly put them in their places. Harper thought it was cute. She was also glad that he was interested in Sid that way. Harper couldn’t remember a time when a male appreciated Sidney’s finer qualities. If they mated, it would give Sidney a chance to at a fresh start. She had the reputation of being overbearing and loud but it was an act. Maybe if she started out here the way she really was, she wouldn’t have to put up a front. Harper figured out a long time ago that Sidney’s was the softest heart around.

The door opened Ryder came in wearing his towel and rubbing his head with another. “You okay?” He asked watching her. She nodded and stretched. He tossed his towels onto the hook on the back of the door. “Sure?” He stalked over to the bed, his eyes were amber, and she nodded again. “Something’s up.” She let her eyes trail down over his incredible body.

“Definitely.” She mused and he grinned. Harper held the blanket up for him to climb into bed with her. Ryder got under and pulled her against him. His fingers kneaded her shoulders and back. She moaned and felt him lengthen against her thigh.

“Sweetheart.” She nuzzled his chest and gave him an mmm-hmm. “Do you want pups?” Harper gazed up at him. “I mean…”

“Of course I want them. I’ve wanted them since I was sixteen.” She smiled at him and kissed his chest. Ryder pushed her onto her back and situated himself between her legs. His erection pressed against her center. Harper lifted her pelvis against him.

“How many?” He slid against her and she moaned.

“All of them.” She murmured wrapping her legs tightly around him. He chuckled against her neck and kissed the hollow under her ear.

“Do you want them soon?” Ryder slid against her again and she wanted him inside of her. Harper dug her nails into his haunches.

“Now, I want them now.” Harper cried then lifted again and he sank into her balls deep. “Yes…” She sighed.

“Are you sure?” Ryder nipped at her throat easing out and back inside. Harper clenched down on him. “Fuck.” He stiffened. “I won’t last like that babe.” Harper did it again and moaned. She didn’t want to last she wanted to explode.
