Misfit(259)

By:Kathryn Kelly

“Are you okay, sweetheart?” he asked.

She nodded and sat next to him on the bed, leaning her head on his shoulder. “I thought I’d never see you and Cash again. None of my family.”

He wrapped his arms around her and kissed the top of her head. “You won’t have to worry about him ever again,” he promised.

Silence and then, “Okay.”

“Open the door, Stretch,” Cash called, his voice rough with anger.

Releasing Fee, he went to the door and unlocked it.

Blood stained Cash’s white T-shirt, blue jeans, his face, his arms, and hands. Fee squeaked.

“It’s over, babe,” he said gently, in stark contrast to the horror show he resembled. “Noah won’t ever fuck with you again. None of us.”

“He ain’t,” Outlaw said from the door. “But my ass gonna fuck with you, Cash.”

Cash’s eyes widened and his face paled. Fee got to her feet, and Stretch gulped.

“I thought I fuckin’ said come to my fuckin’ office, motherfuckers?”

“Christopher, wait, please,” she said as her brother advanced on Cash and grabbed him by the cut. “We love each other.”

“I fuckin’ know, Fee,” Outlaw growled. “Motherfucker told me himself.” Still holding onto Cash, he stared at Stretch. “You love her, too?”

Fear wasn’t Stretch’s friend, but he wouldn’t back down from Outlaw and deny his feelings for Fee. He nodded. “Very much.”

“You love Cash, too, yeah?”

Again, Stretch nodded.

Outlaw glared at Cash, who winced. “You love Stretch and Fee, right?”

“I love them both very much,” Cash admitted.

Fee and Stretch exchanged glances, each as proud and awed by Cash as the other.

“You, Fee?” Outlaw asked, his gaze never leaving Cash. “You love both of them?”

“Yes, Christopher, so please don’t hurt them,” she cried. “We want to be together. Don’t make them choose between me and the club. Let us be happy with each other.”

“You right,” Outlaw agreed, surprising them all when he released Cash. “I wantcha happy and if it take two motherfuckers for that to happen, I ain’t standin’ in your way.” He smiled at her and opened his arms.

Relief on her face, Fee ran to her brother, sagging against him.

He kissed the top of her head. “I was so fuckin’ scared that motherfucker killed you and I wasn’t gonna ever see you again. I love you, Fee. I been a mean assfuck to you. Forgive me?”

Standing on tiptoe, Fee kissed Outlaw’s cheek, then stepped away.

Walking back to Cash, Outlaw shook his hand before squeezing and yanking him forward. If Stretch would’ve blinked, he would’ve missed Cash flying backwards and landing against the bed, before sliding to the floor.

Fee screamed.

“Ain’t bannin’ him, but I am beatin’ the fuck outta him. I told this motherfucker stay away from you.” He sidled Stretch a killing glower.

He was so fucking dead. Deader than dead. Outlaw was going to stump him, just as he kicked Cash and ignored Fee’s sobs before turning to Stretch and grabbing him by the cut as he had Cash.

Unbalanced, Stretch fell against Outlaw but the man dragged him up and lifted him off his feet.

“Please, Christopher, no!” Fee begged.

“If you hurt Fee on Cash behalf, I ain’t beatin’ you. I’m killin’ you. Under-fuckin-stand?”

Stretch nodded, unable to do anything else. Outlaw released him and he yelped as he careened to the floor.

“Now, Fee, live happily-fuckin-ever-after with your motherfuckers,” he said and sauntered out of the room.

At Cash’s groan, Fee rushed to him. Stretch let her go, still not over his run-in with Outlaw. For the past ten minutes, ever since the man left, he’d just sat on the edge of the bed and stared, thinking how fucking lucky he was to be alive.

How fucking lucky he was that Outlaw loved Fee enough, respected him enough, trusted Cash enough to let them work things out. Maybe, if Fee’s near-death—second near-death—experience hadn’t happened, Outlaw might’ve reacted differently.

“I’m alive,” Cash whispered, the shock in his voice drawing laughter from Stretch.

Fee hugged him, almost knocking him off his feet since Outlaw’s punches were hard enough to keep a motherfucker dazed.

“We’re all together,” Cash croaked.

“Yes,” Fee told him. “Christopher gave us his blessing. Don’t you remember?”

“Yeah, babe. I thought…” His voice trailed off and he squinted. “Fuck, I don’t know what I thought.”
