Mated to the Beast(47)

I frowned and so did the commander. “Who?”

Seth rolled his eyes. “A woman who can do it all.”

I tried to hide my smile, I really did, for that described Sarah perfectly. I didn’t know who Wonder Woman was either, but she was my Wonder Woman. I’d hated Seth at first for being the reason Sarah had to go back into danger, but I was liking him more by the minute.

“Captain Mills,” the commander replied, his words gritted out through clenched teeth.

“Commander.”

“I can’t punish your sister because she’s not part of the coalition army. She’s his mate and I think that’s probably punishment enough.”

I would take offense but I was happily stuck with my little human mate. I just had to wait two hours for her to wake.

“As for you…” The commander pressed forward but Seth did not retreat. The two men stood practically nose to nose. While Sarah couldn’t be punished by the coalition, Seth could be stripped of his command and forced into hard labor for the remainder of his stint. It was the commander’s call. Seth had earned his punishment for insubordination alone. “Dismissed.”

Seth saluted him and left.

“As for you,” the commander turned to me. “Once she’s healed, get your mate the hell out of here. Stop taunting me with what I can’t have.”

He spun on his heel and cut around the doctor, who’d returned to check on Sarah.

I smiled down at my mate. Her machines had a constant, even beeping and the doctor was calm and pleased with her response to treatment. I almost lost it when she’d passed out at the controls of the ship, not sure what to do. For the first time in my life, I wasn’t in control. I hadn’t had any way to save her. Muscles wouldn’t do it. Brawn did nothing. Ripping someone’s head off gave no solution.

And so I was forced to wait. Once she was healed, I’d spank her for scaring me so badly. Then I’d pleasure her because I loved watching her come all over my fingers and cock.

Chapter Ten

Sarah

I opened my eyes and saw Dax staring at me. I blinked once, then twice, trying to remember when I fell asleep. I was rested and comfortable, yet I felt as if I’d missed something.

“Feeling better?” he asked, a deep V formed in his brow.

“Feeling… oh!” I sat up then, barely knocking heads with him.

I was in a med unit with several beds and unconscious patients. I wore a gown, not unlike one worn in a hospital on Earth. It all came back to me: the prison rescue, the ship, the pain in my side, that piece of metal.

I put my hands on my side and saw that there was no shrapnel poking through my skin—or at least the gown—and there was no blood. It didn’t hurt anymore either.

“You’re all healed,” he murmured, then stroked my hair back from my face. It was hanging free down my back.

“If this is how space medicine works, I like it,” I commented, pressing against where I’d felt the searing burn from that puncture. If I were on Earth, I’d either be dead or I’d need weeks to heal. “How long was I out?”

“Two hours in the med unit, plus another five minutes being unconscious in my arms as your brother organized an alternate transport.”

“That’s all? Wow.”

Dax rose to his full height then and placed his hands on his hips. “That’s all?” he growled. I could hear the rumble deep in his chest. “Mate, do you have any idea what I’ve been through in that time?”

Before I could open my mouth, the doctor came over and began waving a funny wand over me. He kept his eyes on the display, then reached over and pushed a button on the wall behind me.

“You’re free to go.”

“I am?” I asked, completely amazed that I’d been stabbed by a piece of spaceship less than three hours ago and now I was fine.

“You are,” he replied. “Fully healed and cleared from the med floor.”

Swinging my legs over the side of the bed, I hopped down, my bare feet landing on the cold floor. I reached back and covered my bare ass that I knew was hanging out.

“She’s cleared for all activities, doctor?” Dax asked.

I flushed, for I knew exactly what kind of activities he was referring to.

He cleared his throat. “Yes, all activities.”

Dax bent down and before I knew what was happening, his shoulder was pressed into my belly and I was tossed over his shoulder. I put my hands on his lower back for balance.

“Dax!” I cried.

He spun on his heel and practically stalked toward the exit.

“My rear end is sticking out!” I could feel the cool air and knew everyone could see everything.
