Matched For Love(41)

He glanced at the clock on her nightstand. “Too late for that. What else you got?”

Lori sat up and held the sheet against her chest. Seemed a little late for modesty after what they’d done for most of the night. It made him smile. “Hey. In case I forgot to tell you, last night was awesome.”

When she turned to look at him, the annoyance at their situation slowly slipped away, and she smiled. “It was.” She laid a hand on his cheek. “Thank you for all the studying on how to please women.”

“I added in a few special things just for you.” He leaned over and kissed her. He loved kissing her. And she was incredible in bed—in a really noisy, sexy way.

He’d enjoyed hearing and watching how much pleasure he’d given her. But she could’ve written some of the books he’d studied. When he’d finally let her please him, she’d had him begging for more. He hoped they could make love again. Soon.

She slowly ended the kiss. “I really liked those special touches. Now get dressed and then grab a pillow. Let the kids find you on the couch when they get up. We’ll just say it was late and the roads had iced over.”

“That’s probably true, so it works for me.” He jumped out of bed and gathered his clothes scattered about the room. Lori leaned back against the headboard and watched. Like a hungry lioness waiting to pounce.

He wished she’d get her naked ass out of bed so he could watch her dress too, but she was probably waiting for him to leave. He never knew what to do with morning afters.

He crossed to the bathroom and found Lori’s robe on the back of the door. So he grabbed it and then sat beside her on the bed. “Here’s this, but I couldn’t find your crown, Your Majesty.”

“I keep it locked away in my castle. Along with all my designer shoes.” She smiled as she slipped into the robe, managing to show very little skin, unfortunately.

He picked up one of her sexy heels off the floor so she wouldn’t impale her bare feet when she got out of bed and noted the red bottom. He quickly shut down the memory of her standing before him wearing nothing but those shoes. He had to get to the couch before the kids woke up, not ravish Lori one more time. “I thought you said you didn’t have any of these.”

“Those are my sister’s shoes.” Lori plucked his glasses off the nightstand and slipped them onto his face. “How am I going to be able to look at you today during the field trip knowing what we did last night?” She slid out of bed and headed for the bathroom. “Don’t take it personally if I ignore you. I think the kids will figure it out otherwise.”

He caught up with her and wrapped his arms around her waist to stop her. “Is it that, or are you afraid of making Mr. Raymond jealous? Asher says he smiles at you funny.”

She turned and hugged him. “Does he? I never noticed.” Then she kissed him. “But I bet he hasn’t done his research like you have. I’m worried you’ve spoiled me for all other men, Deek. Seriously. I’ve never…”

His heart soared. Maybe last night hadn’t been a one-shot deal after all. “Never what?”

She leaned her mouth next to his ear and whispered something so erotic that it made him rock-hard. Then she said, “You’d better hurry to the den.”

“Way to leave a guy hanging.” He gave her butt a playful pat and then grabbed a pillow and a blanket from the bed. “I’ll start breakfast once the kids are up. Take your time in the shower. Unless you need a hand?”

“Don’t tempt me.” Lori grabbed him by the shoulders, turned him around, and pushed him toward the door. “Get out before I cave again to your woo-woo spells or whatever they are.”

“The scientific term is Kama Sutra.”

She whispered, “Well, kindly take the sutra and all that karma of yours to the den.”

“No, it’s—”

Lori held up a hand. “I know. It was a joke, Deek.”

“Ah. Got it.” Still smiling, he tiptoed out to the den and flopped onto the couch. They’d been up so late the night before that by the time he pulled up the blanket and closed his eyes; he’d fallen fast asleep

He awoke next to tapping on his shoulder. “Dad? What am I going to wear to school? I can’t wear the same thing again.”

He ran a hand down his face as he tried to shake the fog from his brain. “Ummm. We’ll think of something.” He sat up as his mind raced for an answer.

Lori appeared holding a Broncos sweatshirt, clearly having anticipated the clothes problem. When their eyes met, she blushed. It was adorable.

She said, “Asher, look what I have. Your favorite team. Why don’t you wear this over your shirt? No one will know any better.”
