Maizy the Bear Charmer(Diving Creek Ranch 16)(38)

By:Heather Rainier

Cody drew Maizy’s attention with a fingertip under her chin. “Worst-case scenario, what would happen if you lost your job over our relationship?”

“It would break my heart. But I think if everything worked out between us and I somehow lost you, that would break my heart as well.”

Cody glanced at him and Heath, and Spencer had a bad feeling as Cody said, “You have no idea how hard it is to ask this question, but, angel, do you think it’s for the best if we take you home right now? I think it’s true for all of us that the farther we go the more deeply attached to you we get.”

“No,” she whispered, clasping her hands together and pressing them to her lips. “No, I don’t want that. This is special. I know that much.”

“What if we make it worth the risk? Worth the effort?”

“I think it would be…but…”

“But you’re afraid of hurting or disappointing us?” Cody countered. “That’s what you’re concerned about?”

Spencer wanted to scoop her up when her eyes misted up and she cleared her throat as she nodded. “I was remembering backpedalling on you this afternoon and I was afraid that if I told you about the difficulties I’ll face, that you would take me home and tell me to forget about it.”

Cody stroked the back of her head and kissed her forehead. “Angel, you need to get to know us better. You’d know we don’t give up that easily.” He looked over at the two of them and said, “We can work this out between the three of us, to make it as easy as possible with her job, right?”

“Hell yeah,” Heath said with an easy nod. “I’m not giving up that easy.”

Spencer also nodded. “Whatever it takes.”

Cody cupped Maizy’s cheeks and looked into her eyes. “We’ll divide up the time we spend with you. It’s not the way I wanted it to be and I have the feeling that you’ll come around to seeing it the same way, but we want you.”

“I feel like I’m on a runaway roller coaster but I want you, too.” She looked over to him and Heath. “I want this.”

“Ready to go home?” Cody asked softly.

She looked back at him and shook her head. “No. Not yet.”

“What are your plans for tomorrow?”

“Laundry and I volunteer at the Memorial Rose Garden on Sunday afternoons twice a month. I need to be there at two.”

Spencer sat forward on the edge of the love seat and lifted her foot in his hand and stroked it. She hissed softly and her eyes took on a soft, faraway quality.

Sensitive feet. Good to know.

“Can you stay for a few hours? Let us focus on you for a little while since we couldn’t earlier because of work?”

Maizy’s sexy smile said it all as she nodded and then murmured, “I didn’t feel neglected tonight.”

“Yes, but we want your undivided attention while we take care of you,” Heath replied.

Cody checked his watch. “We have time to play and we can have you home before dawn. Will that allow you enough time to rest before you go in to volunteer?”

Maizy nodded as Spencer continued stroking her foot. “I’ll stay. But—”

Cody put his fingers on her lips and kissed her temple. “It’s late and you’re tired, baby. We just want to play a bit. When we make love to you, it’s going to take the whole evening.”

She looked between the three of them. “That’s all right with you? I mean…gosh, I can’t seem to form a rational sentence.”

“It’s fine with us, baby. Let us take care of you.”

“But you should get to have fun as well.”

Heath said, “If by having fun you mean we should get to come too, we appreciate that but our goal is to give you an idea of what being with us would be like without putting a lot of pressure on you. There’s a lot more to us than the need to orgasm, great though that is.”

“I want you to feel good, too.”

Cody caressed her cheek to get her attention and said, “We will. Now, I don’t know if you noticed or not, but I smell like some other woman’s perfume.”

Maizy glanced up at him. “Actually, yes, I did. I figured it’s just a job hazard.”

“That’s a nice way of putting it.”

She looked at her hands as she said, “I’ll have to get used to that, I suppose. I’ll tell you right now, that’s going to be hard. I know it’s crazy but I already feel very…possessive.” She glanced up at them.

Spencer chuckled. “You say that like it’s a bad thing, baby. We feel the same way about you. I wanted to punch some guys tonight for the way they were staring at you while you danced.”
