After a warm shower they made love again. This time, he laid her down and whispered sweetly to her as he slid inside her and took his time, thrusting gently and delaying their orgasms until it was pure, sweet torture for her. There came a point where the orgasm wasn’t even the purpose of making love with him. Being joined with him, body, heart, and soul was. The sensual journey they took together enraptured her so much that when the climax finally came she cried because the ecstasy couldn’t be expressed any other way.
She woke during the night, sensing that all three of her men surrounded her in the bed but didn’t move. They’d had a long night and needed their rest. She lay there luxuriating in their nearness, filled with peace. Gentle fingers gathered her hair from her throat, from behind, and when warm lips touched her shoulder, she knew it was Cody. He always slept on the right side of the bed and she usually wound up with her back to his front when she slept. He let out a deep sigh, scooted closer, and fell back asleep.
A different kind of ecstasy filled her, just to be near him, all three of them, like that. She let out a deep, shaky breath and prayed that she’d have many nights like this with them and looked forward to a time when it could be every night. Her bed at home would be cold and lonely with just her in it the next night.
Chapter Twenty-Seven
Maizy could hardly contain her happiness when she glanced out of her classroom windows and saw Spencer’s truck in the parking lot. Her students were bustling around the classroom, some of them grabbing lunch boxes, as they lined up at the open door to walk to the cafeteria for lunch.
Spencer had told her that he planned to bring her lunch that day. She was excited at the prospect but she knew it would lead to more gossip when he checked in at the office before coming to see her. He’d said he didn’t mind, as long as it didn’t bother her. Cody agreed, telling her that she was an engaged woman now, and if other teachers’ spouses brought them lunch from time to time, there was no reason she couldn’t enjoy the same privilege.
Taking her position at the door, she looked her students over, making sure they were set, and led them out of the room. Spencer’s deep voice reverberated in the hallway as he stepped out of the school office, still speaking to the school secretary, who was directing him to her room, a look of rampant curiosity on her face.
A thrill went up Maizy’s spine as he walked up to her. He’d dressed in freshly pressed jeans, cowboy boots, and a white button-down shirt with the long sleeves rolled down to cover his tattoos. She appreciated that consideration but wouldn’t have cared if he’d left them uncovered.
“Hi,” she said, after directing her students to remain in their line.
Spencer smiled, his eyes warm, as he approached her with two Styrofoam boxes in his hands. The school secretary stood in the office doorway gaping at him. He seemed to fill the entire hallway with his massive presence.
“Hi. I brought lunch, as promised.” He leaned forward and kissed her temple, causing warmth to gather in her cheeks.
Juvenile whispering behind her caught her attention and she turned to her students, who immediately clammed up when they saw her raised eyebrows. PJ grinned like a Cheshire Cat, revealing the gaps where his two front teeth had been until recently.
“Class, this is Mr. Spencer Ketchum. He’s my fiancé.”
“What’s that?” Ruby asked.
“It means he asked her to marry him!” PJ chirped. “He’s gonna be my Uncle Spencer!”
Maizy felt a blush creep up her cheeks as she recalled she needed to ask PJ for his discretion concerning Cody and Heath. He was staying the week with her parents and she’d explained to him at the family supper on Sunday night that she was newly engaged. PJ had been very excited about the prospect. He hadn’t batted an eye over her being engaged to three men and she wished that her father had been as accepting.
“Are you a giant?” Amber asked as she looked up, up, up at him. “You look like a giant to me.”
Maizy suppressed a giggle and shushed the children as they all started chattering at once. “Walk with me?” she asked. “I just need to drop them off at the cafeteria. My volunteer will help them and we can sit and eat at one of the other tables.”
“Sure.”
Once her kids split into two groups, lining up to receive their hot meals from the lunch ladies or sitting at their tables and opening their lunch boxes, she spoke quietly to her volunteer and then directed Spencer to one of the tables where the teachers often sat to eat their lunches. Spencer received a lot of long looks from people but he seemed to handle it with ease, nodding at people in a congenial manner when they made eye contact.
