LLucy’s Revenge(Divine Creek Ranch 15)(53)

By:Heather Rainier

“I think I’m addicted to you,” Beck growled softly before nipping at her neck, sending pleasant shivers down her spine, as he tugged at the waistband of his boxers.

“Let me,” she murmured, taking him in hand and stroking his hot, thick shaft. “The coffee will take a few minutes to brew. Want to play?”

His sleepy smile as he unbuttoned the shirt she wore did funny things to the pit of her belly. “We’re going to wear you out if we’re not careful.”

“Nuh-uh. Come in the living room with me?” she asked as she tugged at his hand. She burst into giggles when he slung her over his shoulder, carried her there, and dumped her on the couch, her hair flying wild for a second before settling all around her on the cushions.

Beck knelt beside her and slid his fingers through her hair. “I’ve never told you how much I like your hair, have I?” It was a simple question but he seemed troubled by it. “I’ve never complimented you at all, until recently.” Lost in thought, he lifted a handful to his nose and inhaled. “Sweet. Like you.”

Lucy smirked. “Don’t convince yourself I’m all sweet, Beck. You’ll just be disappointed.”

Beck shook his head in denial. “I like that you know your own mind and that you don’t often sugarcoat things. I don’t care if you’re not always sweet and easy. You challenge me and expect better from me. I guess that’s good, too.” He grinned as he rubbed his balls. “Most of the time anyway.”

Lucy giggled again. “You’ll learn.”

Beck was more serious and contemplative than she wanted him to be this morning and she decided to take matters in hand. “Come sit with me. Let me take care of you and make all this adjusting you’re going to do worthwhile.”

She sat up and he joined her and said, “Lucy, if I ever did stuff that made you want to break everything off with me, you’d tell me before it got too bad, right?”

Lucy slipped to her knees and knelt on the floor in front of him. “What do you mean?” She didn’t like how serious he was being.

He reached out to touch her cheek, his expression serious. “Maybe Chloe left me because I was an asshole to her and she just couldn’t tell me that. I’d want to know if I was so bad I was running you off.”

She stroked the tops of his thighs, which were covered with a sparse layer of dark blond hairs. “Beck, you’ve never talked to me about her so I can’t say for sure. Yes, you’ve been a bit much on occasion. But lately, you’ve been mostly sweet to me. A little possessive at times but I don’t mind that. I’m possessive, too. What did she tell you when you talked to her?” She tried to censor any resentment she felt on his behalf from her tone when she spoke of his ex.

“She was calling to tell me she was engaged. When I told her…told her I still loved her, I could tell it was hard for her. She told me that I’d find the one that was meant for me.”

Right then, Lucy wanted that woman to be her. Her heart reached out to his. She wanted to make him forget the past.

“She told me I’d find my soul mate someday but at the time I didn’t want to listen.”

“That doesn’t sound like a woman who didn’t care about you, honey. She sounded like she was trying to make it better. Give you hope. I’ll be honest and tell you I don’t think too much of her for hurting you in the first place, but it doesn’t sound to me like she left because of the way you treated her. Where did she go when she left?”

“Lusty.”

“Lusty. That sounds famil—oh. That’s where Jayne and Toby wound up when they were kidnapped. I heard that’s a nice little town.”

“I suppose. I just don’t want to repeat the same mistakes.”

Lucy rose up on her knees so she could kiss him. “Tell you what. That’s the past. Let’s leave it there. It’s my turn now. Our turn. I think we’re off to a pretty good start.” A warm grin crossed Beck’s handsome face as she slid between his inner thighs, drawing closer to him. The front of his shirt parted, revealing her breasts to him, and the hairs on his legs tickled at her waist, sending currents of warm pleasure through her. “Now will you let me make you feel better?” She pulled at the waistband of his boxers.

He leaned forward, looking at her bare knees on the floor. “Only if you’ll put a throw pillow on the floor first. Your knees are going to hurt later. Patrick needs an area rug in here.” He lifted his hips as she pulled the boxers out of the way.

“Yeah, a nice thick one by the couch and maybe another one in front of the fireplace,” Patrick said in a sleepy voice from his place, leaning against the door frame. “Everything okay? I heard you talking…and giggling.”
