Lost Love (Cowboys and Angels #1)(103)
“I’m a mess,” I stated with a chuckle.
He shook his head. “I’ve never seen you look more beautiful. Your wind tossed hair and flushed cheeks… I could stare at you all day and never get tired of the view.”
My stomach dipped. “How do you do it?” I asked, wrapping my arms around his neck.
“Do what?”
“Make me feel like I’m the most beautiful woman in the world.”
He looked at me like I had said the craziest thing ever, but it was true. Steed had a way of making both me and our daughter feel like we were his everything. The very air he breathed. The last few months were the best of my life. Steed worked the ranch during the day with his father and Cord, and the moment Chloe and I pulled up from school, he was there, wearing a smile and waiting to dish out amazing hugs and kisses for both of us.
I soon found myself giddy with excitement as we drove down the long drive to the house, wondering what surprise he would have in store for us. For Chloe, it was always something with the animals. A new book, or piggyback ride where he acted like a stallion. For me, it was something as simple as a single rose and a kiss, to a heart shaped locket with our family portrait in it. Each day he offered us something.
He spoiled us with love, and I couldn’t imagine I could be any happier.
“Pax, you are the most beautiful woman in the world.”
My eyes filled with tears as I realized that every day this man made me feel special. That my happiness grew each time he smiled at me, kissed me, held me in his arms, or whispered how much he loved me.
I loved this man more than I loved anything. He was the reason I breathed.
“Make love to me, Steed,” I softly spoke as he slipped his hand around my neck and pulled my lips to his.
“It would be my pleasure.”
Sneak Peek of
Love Profound
Nervous as fuck.
That was me as I found myself about to step into the room where one of my romance books was being recorded for the audiobook version. My agent, Allysa, had mentioned it was in the process of being recorded, and we weren’t far from where it was happening. I asked if I could sneak a peek and was shocked when she made a phone call and said we could.
The first thing I noticed was the drop-dead gorgeous guy in the booth who was bringing my words to life. His dark blonde hair appeared disheveled, probably from his hand sliding through it. He glanced up and his blue eyes met mine.
Well hello there, James.
I had to wipe the drool from the sides of my mouth. James was the hero in my book, and this beautiful piece of hotness in front of the microphone fit my character’s description almost perfectly. Purely a coincidence I was sure, but nonetheless, it made my insides melt a little bit more.
My pulse raced, and my stomach dipped. Jesus. The man had a voice that could talk the panties off of any woman. Shit. My readers were going to love this one. Hell, I was entranced, and it was my own book.
“We’ll finish this chapter and then give you a chance to meet Liam.”
My mind quickly thought of Liam Hemsworth. Yummy.
A few moments later, Liam walked into the control room. I swallowed hard as I took him in.
Tall. Check.
Built like a Greek God. Check, check.
Handsome as all get out. Check-a-dee, check, check.
Liam walked up to me and extended his hand. “Amelia, so nice to meet you.”
Find your voice for Christ’s sake, Amelia. “Liam, the pleasure is all mine. You’re Australian?”
He smiled and I was pretty positive I heard angels singing. It should be illegal for a man to smile at a woman like that. “I am.”
I nodded. “How long have you lived in the US?”
“Four years now.”
I nodded again. Shit. All I could do was nod.
“Well, thank you for bringing a voice to my James. From the sound of it you’re doing a great job.”
Liam leaned in close and whispered, “He’s a bit of a dirty bloke isn’t he?”
My cheeks heated instantly. “Yes. He is.”
Drawing back, he winked. “You’re from Texas?”
I nodded and tried to get the sound of his sexy voice out of my mind. “I am. Ever been there?”
He laughed. “No. I’d love to though.”
I didn’t say anything to that…mostly because I was fighting the urge to tell him he could come home with me.
“You should visit some time.”
Wait, what? Why in the hell did I say that?
His megawatt smile nearly had me stumbling backwards. “I’d love to… Amelia.”
Oh. My. God.
Say my name again! Say it again!
My teeth sunk into my lip, and I was pretty sure I was going to leave indentations from how hard I was biting.
“We better let Liam get back to work. They’re on a schedule,” Allysa said while glancing between Liam and me.
