“I am not marrying you…you…you ass.” I growled out from my position on his back.
“Already said that babe. Now let’s go.” Damn he had me there. It was like I go dumb when he is around.
“Have fun.” I heard one of those traitors say, as Matt followed us out to move his truck.
Chapter 8:
David
My squirming little miss was giving me a hell of a time until I gave her a nice little spank followed by caressing her ass. I opened the passenger door and put her ass where she belonged and strapped her in. She refused to look at me as she crossed her arms in a snit. I wasn’t going to tolerate that shit. My hand grabbed her pretty little face and turned it to me. In her eyes, I saw the anger and past that, was something else. I wasn’t sure what it was, but I needed her to understand a few things.
“We are going to have get some shit straight. I told you before what I want this to be. Now my first question is going to wait until we get to my place, but I want you to know whatever got you here doesn’t matter, I am just glad that you are. Now sit there and look pretty, we’ll be home soon.”
I closed the door and walked around the front of the truck, never taking my eyes off of her for a moment. I didn’t trust her ass not to jump out. Once I started the engine and Matt was out of the way, I placed her hand in mine and held it the whole way home, never forgetting to caress it as often as possible. I wanted to her to want to be with me no matter where we were and I was going to prove to her ass that we belonged together.
We pulled up to my house outside the city in Orland. I wasn’t far from Mike and Sarah now. I bought it on a whim right before the wedding. It was a spacious eight room and eight baths and a square mile spread behind the house, big enough for horses according to the realtor chick who sold me the place. It was like fate had been sending me a sign in neon lights, “find my future” and I sure as hell planned to do that with my cowgirl. I watched her eyes go wide was she took in my place.
We walked into the house and I directed her to the sofa, “Are you thirsty?”
“Yes, water would be great.” She was still admiring the house. It had a rustic look to it even though the exterior said it should have the modern open space with white and black everywhere. I came back with the drinks and handed her the glass.
“Why did you come here?” I asked since it was on my mind the moment that shit with Matt was cleared up.
“Your ass dragged me here. You tell me.” My sassy lass was back in full force. Fucking smart ass.
“I meant what the fuck are you doing in Illinois. And please for my sake tell me it’s not for some other motherfucking guy.” I couldn’t take that shit. I want this woman more than anything. More than I wanted to find Stacy or to make something of myself, which was saying a lot because I was a dedicated motherfucker to those tasks.
“Because I missed you too.” She looked like there was more and I had a feeling I was going to have to force it out of her.
“Yeah, but what happens when you start missing the Texas way of life? Are you just going to cut and run?” I tried to hide my fear of desertion, but she caught that shit right away.
“David, I understand why you think I don’t want to live here with you. Hell, I said it, but I didn’t mean it at the time. I was just upset about the woman in Dallas and I wanted a divide between us too big to cross. I just didn’t realize how big of a divide I made for us.” She stood up and started pacing before taking another drink of water and sat back down. “The thing is our families stepped up to talk to me. Your sister called and told me what you had said to her. Then she told me about your mother. That was last night. I flew out as soon as I could. The thing is well I just need to be where you are.” The blush suffused her face as she admitted her feelings, well sort of.
My blood had been high already. I had lost control of rational thought as I took her water from her and set it down next to my pop, looked her in the eyes and said, “You’ve made it here, now I am going to give you a reason to stay.” With that, I took her into my arms, and carried her up the stairs and into my room, shutting the door with my foot.
Evie
I was trying to hold my ground, but when he looked me in the eyes and told me he was glad I was here, I was putty in his hands. I didn’t want him to win so easily, but he was back to the guy I met in River Bend, demanding and not taking no for an answer. I was soaking my undies as we drove on. It wasn’t as warm as in was back home so he kept the windows up and I was afraid he could smell my ache for him. In my defiance I tried to pull my hand out of his, but he was wouldn’t budge. He was holding on so strong. I didn’t think he noticed until he pulled it closer and began rubbing his thumb on the back of my hand, sending me in a state of arousal I hadn’t known existed.
