"Really? Well with all of his recent activities I can't tell."
"Kyhanna, don't even trip about Selina she was just a jump off anyway."
"Well this girl is going around saying they've been together the whole time we supposedly were together. Now she's pregnant with his baby."
"Sis, I guarantee that's not his baby. Trust me."
"How are you so sure?"
"Because Selina be smashin' so many niggas out here that ain't my bruh's baby at all. She done slept with so many niggas she need to make a list shit."
I laughed hard as hell when Khamani said that and since this wasn't the first time I heard this statement I knew this girl had to be one nasty chick.
"I understand but your brother still lied to me though."
"I know and that's something you two can work out but don't throw away what y'all have because of one mistake. Kwame loves you for real and this kind of love and connection don't happen every day."
"Did Kwame put you up to this?" I asked curiously. His brother sounded like he read a script that Kwame wrote.
"Naw … well maybe … I dunno … .Kyhanna you making me nervous and shit asking me all these questions." Khamani said and I laughed in his face.
"Oh so I'm asking a lot of questions? You silly Khamani."
"I'm just saying I'm rooting for y'all man … .don't kick my bro to the curb."
"Didn't anyone say I was kicking him to the curb." Khamani grabbed his chest in relief.
"Ok cool. At least I can tell him that. I'll be back in a few days to check on you but you got my number if you need me." Khamani reached out and hugged me.
"Thanks bro I appreciate it."
Khamani left and I ended up receiving a phone call from my bestie.
"Girl, when do you think you coming this way?"
"Let me throw on a change of clothes and then I'll be by to get you."
"Okay cool. Girl, I can't wait until you pick me up in your fly ass whip. Everybody gon' be staring at us."
"For sure. I'll see you soon."
Ding-dong.
Ding-dong.
The doorbell rang causing me to think that Khamani may have come back for something or the delivery guy bringing me the Michael Kors purse I ordered from Dillard's. When I opened up the door and Charmaine's whack ass standing there I felt like cussing her ass out and the only thing that seemed to save her was the fact that she had her son with her.
"What are you doing here? You know Kwame ain't here."
"I know where the hell he is. I came over here to grab some of my son's things."
"Whatever." I rolled my eyes as she walked past me into the living room. I crossed my arms over my chest and hoped she was fast because even these few minutes she'd been here had been too much.
"Since I'm here we definitely need to have a conversation. KJ you can go to your room."
"For what?"
"You standing there with this big ass attitude. You act like I've done you wrong when I've done nothing to you. In fact all of this stuff has nothing to even do with you."
"You damn right I have an attitude. You the one that has an attitude when the only reason you mad is because your baby daddy don't want you no more. Now I let you get in my face before but this shit stops today. Either you respect me or act like you don't fuckin' know me and that's the bottom line but what you will not do is take out your anger with Kwame on me."
"Oh so am I supposed to hug you and sing Kumbaya ‘cuz I don't give a shit about the bullshit relationship you two think you have. Kwame is mine and always will be and it's only a matter of time before he's back with his real family."
"Charmaine get what you came to get and get the fuck out." I could feel myself about to lose all control and I needed her to get her child and leave before I snapped. I had no business trying to fight this chick and I was pregnant. Charmaine let a devious smile appear as she called her son to come downstairs.
"Oh I don't need anything I already got what I needed." She rolled her eyes and walked out of Kwame's house like she's just won the battle in some crazy war. If Kwame thought a few I love you's and I'm sorry's would fix the mess we had then he had another thing coming. It would take a lot more than just some words to fix our situation. When Kwame got out of jail he really had some work to do.

Chapter 19
"There's no way in hell I'm going to allow you to do a paternity test on my son when it's clear Kwame is KJ's father. I mean they look exactly alike." I said feverishly shaking my leg while I sat across from Kwame's lawyer in his office. If his lawyer would've told me that this was his request when he initially reached out to me I would've told him to kiss my black ass. I thought he called me here because he had a check for me.
I couldn't believe that Kwame would stoop to this level trying to claim that KJ wasn't his.
"So if you're claiming they look just alike then you should have no problem in having your son take this paternity test."
"So Kwame ordered this test?"
"Actually he didn't order the test, I did. Ms. Waters you can't expect to go after Kwame for the amount you're requesting without the establishment that my client is actually your son's father. That would be insane."
"What's insane is the fact that you could even make the accusation that Kwame isn't his father."
"It's not an accusation. Going through with this test is actually designed to help you because when the test proves that my client is your son's father then he'll be obligated to pay you the entire amount you're requesting. I don't know about you but I'd be quick to go through with it. Is there a specific reason why you're so hesitant?"
So not only did his lawyer think that Kwame wasn't KJ's father now he thought I had something to hide. I wasn't one who took kindly to insults.
"I'm not hesitant by any means. If taking a test is what you want then that's exactly what it's gonna be. And I can't wait until this test comes back proving that Kwame is KJ father too ‘cuz then I want all my goddamn money."
"Once you take this test and it comes back in your favor my client will gladly pay you everything that you've requested to receive."
I stood up, grabbed my red Chanel bag and stormed out of his office. Before I walked off, he had managed to slip me a piece of paper with an address to the place I was supposed to take my son to be tested. Even though I was completely pissed off to be going through with this I wasn't about to let anything stand in the way of receiving the money that was so rightfully mine. So I picked my son up from my best friend's house and took him to the address that had been on the paper he gave me. I actually couldn't wait for the results to be read because when they came back that Kwame was KJ's father I knew he'd have the stupidest look on his face when he discovered he had to pay me all of that money.

Chapter 20
The days and weeks leading up to my court date seemed to fly by and before I knew it my scheduled date had finally come. It felt good when I walked into the courthouse and saw all of my friends and family there to support me. I glanced around the mini crowd of people who'd all come to be by my side and I hung my head slightly as I didn't see Kyhanna anywhere in sight. I always knew there was a possibility that she wouldn't show up but I figured she would put everything else aside and just be there for me. I looked over at my brother Khamani.
"Bro, she didn't come?" I asked and then he smiled and pointed behind me. I turned around and saw Kyhanna standing there.
"You came. I didn't think you would come." I reached out and gave her a quick hug. She smelled incredible. From the way she smelled I just wanted to devour her right there but I figured I'd save that for later when I walked up outta this bitch.
"Did you really think I wouldn't come? I wouldn't have missed this day for the world. Regardless of what's going on I would never miss something like this."
I studied Khyanna's features and even though I'd only been away for a month she looked slightly different. She possessed a certain glow that enhanced her appearance even more than what I previously remembered.
All I wanted to do was grab her face and kiss her but it wasn't time for that. My hearing was in about twenty minutes. My lawyer met me in the lobby and the sheriff and I followed him upstairs to where family court was located. My friends and family had to stay behind since the only ones allowed in the court room were Charmaine and I and our lawyers.
