Kwame & Kyhanna(32)

By:Chante Amor

"Long time no see friend." Selina said with the stupidest smile on her face. Her fakeness repulsed me.

"Get to the fuckin' point Selina. You know I can only tolerate like two  minutes of you and then I want to resort to beating your ass so hurry  up."

"Come on. That's no way to talk to the mother of Kwame's newest child."

"Girl, don't nobody care about you being baby momma number two. If your  stupid ass wanna be pregnant by a complete loser than be my guest. Shit,  you act like carrying his damn baby is a privilege."

"You don't sound the least bit upset about this news. Patrice must've told you."

"I really don't care."

"Well I'm glad to hear you say that since we have made the decision to be together and raise our child as one."

"You want a gold medal or something? It's funny you say that ‘cuz I just  talked to Kwame and he mentioned nothing about you and him having a  baby. Are you even sure it's his?"

"Yes I'm sure it's his. I sense a little jealousy in your voice. Are you mad that I have the life that you wish you wanted?"

"Bitch please. Ain't nobody jealous about you or your damn life. What  Kwame need to do is get a blood test and make sure that baby is actually  his. You know you can pregnant by anybody at this point. That's the  city's baby." I laughed.

"Don't be mad ‘cuz Kwame don't want yo' washed up ass no more. I'll  still make sure he does right by KJ when he comes to our house. So you  don't have anything to worry about." Selina smirked and I was getting  ready to haul off and slap that hoe but seeing my son in my peripheral  vision made me fall back from checking her.

"Girl, you so lucky right now." I announced as my son and cousin walked  up on us and we ended up walking away before I said or did anything  else. Patrice however flicked her hard as fuck in the middle of her  forehead.

"You silly Treece." I laughed as I watched Selina walk away with the craziest look on her face.

"I can't stand that hoe. I couldn't just not do anything." She replied.

We walked the mall for about two hours and the only thing I managed to  buy was a pair of Jordan's for KJ. I ended up dropping my cousin off and  then I headed to Tariq's house. I pulled in the driveway and saw  Romell's Range Rover sitting in the spot where Tariq usually parked.  When I walked in the house, I found Romell sitting on the couch with his  hands folded in deep thought.

"Hey Rome what's going on?"

"Charmaine, I just heard from the police about an hour ago. My brother is dead."

"What?"

"They found my brother's arm in an abandoned house on the East side. And they did finger prints and they matched my brother's."

"All they found was an arm? They didn't find the rest of him?"

"Nope. They probably tossed the rest of him in McKelvey Lake and you  know like I know that once something gets thrown in there that's the  abyss. Whoever did this wanted me to know they did something  disrespectful to my brother. This shit is fucked all the way up!" Romell  said as he stood to his feet and clenched his fists. I couldn't even  control my emotions. Tears fell fast down my face and I felt my body  going weak. He tried to catch me but I ended up sliding down the wall I  had been closest to. My heart beat as though it wanted to jump out of my  chest and I was on the brink of hyperventilating.

"Whoever did this to Tariq is a cold motherfucker man … this shit don't even feel real."

"Who do you even think could've done something like this?" I asked.

"Honestly, the streets is talkin'. And although I don't have all the  facts I can tell you one thing. When I get to the bottom of it I'm gonna  kill whoever is responsible for my brother. I put that on my life."

Kyhanna

Chapter 16

Tameeka had been able to get me in at the Women's Center she went to and  I took the first available appointment they had. I needed to get on  birth control asap. I couldn't take any more chances of Kwame's pull out  game being strong because I didn't want us to slip up and get pregnant.  He had been relieved when he heard I had an appointment and even  cleared his schedule in order to take me and pick me up.

"How are you feeling baby?" Kwame asked me as he drove to the clinic.

"My stomach still don't feel right but I feel better today than I did  yesterday." I replied. I seemed to have some sort of stomach bug for the  past week and a half and just when I thought I'd gotten rid of it  somehow it came back.

"I'm glad you're feeling better. Hopefully they can give you something for that too."

"I hope so."

I reached over and interlocked my fingers in with his. He looked over at  me and smiled. Kwame made me feel so safe and secure. I couldn't wait  to get through with this doctor's appointment so they could tell me what  was wrong and put me on some birth control. My best friend had been  convinced with my current symptoms that I was already pregnant but the  moment Tameeka had her baby she wanted me to have one. I think I had the  stomach flu.

"So Kyhanna just call me when you done. I'll swing back through and come  get you." Kwame leaned over and kissed me before I got out of the car.

"Okay baby make sure you got your phone where you can hear it."

"Got you."

I wrapped my arms around his neck one more time before I got out and  made my way into the building. Before Kwame pulled off, he put down the  passenger's side window and called out to me.

"And tonight I'm taking you on a date." Kwame winked and I literally felt butterflies form in my stomach.

"I can't wait. See you in a few baby."

I walked in and signed in at the front desk and then found me an empty  seat on the opposite side of the room. It was so many women in there  that it was close to being standing room only in the waiting area.

From across the room, this Puerto Rican chick started staring at me the  minute I sat down in my seat. She rolled her eyes at me and shook her  head as if she knew me. I tried not to pay her any attention since I  didn't know the girl at all. Maybe she had a lot on her mind and wasn't  looking at me at all. An African American woman wearing scrubs and  holding a manila chart walked into the waiting area.

"Selina Martinez." She announced and the girl in question stood from her seat and followed the woman out of the room.

"Kyhanna Gregory." Another woman called out and I got up from where I was sitting and walked to meet the woman.

As soon as we stepped through the door, the woman had me step on the scale and took my height and weight.

5'4 140 lbs. …

I noticed I'd picked up a few pounds since the last time I went to the  doctor but I attributed that to the fact that when I lived with my  mother I didn't always eat every day and since I'd been living with  Kwame my meals were steadier than ever.

"When was your last menstrual period?"

"April fifteenth."

"As in last month?"

"Yes."

"Okay. Well first I'll need a urine sample and I'll show you the exam room you'll be in."

The nurse handed me a clear cup and asked me to give her a urine sample.  Thank God when I went into the bathroom I had some urine to actually  give her. I filled the cup up halfway and then shut the lid. After I  stepped out of the restroom, I handed the cup to her and I went inside  the room she'd pointed out to me.

"The doctor will be in with you shortly." The nurse said as she walked  back out shutting the door behind her. I sat and waited so long that I  ended up getting sleepy and by the time I heard the knock at the door, I  jumped. I checked my face to make sure I didn't drool on myself just in  time for the doctor to walk in.

"Good morning Kyhanna. My name is Dr. Hill and you'll be seeing me as  one of my new patients. What brings you in to see me today?" The male  doctor asked as he leaned up against the counter.

"Well I came because I really need to be on some type of birth control. I  recently started having sex and I just want to make sure I'm careful.  Also my stomach has been killing me these last few days and I've been  sick to my stomach so I was wondering could I get some medicine for that  too?"

"And do you have any other symptoms besides nausea?" He asked. I fixed  my mouth to say no until I remembered something at the last minute.

"Yeah my breasts are extremely sore too."

"And you told my nurse that your last period was last month around April fifteenth?"

"Yes."

"Well I know you initially came here to get put on birth control but I  can't do that because you are pregnant and judging from your last  menstrual cycle you're one week shy of being one month pregnant. The  urine you gave me came back positive."
