Kwame & Kyhanna(21)
"Alright." I replied and popped the locks after Kwame got out. Kwame was protective of me already and we had just gotten together. I thought it was cute how he wanted to protect me and without having no one out here who had my back, Kwame had been a God send.
I pulled out my phone and tried to call my mother again but I got the same response from before and the number had still been disconnected. Kwame emerged from the building carrying two white bags. As soon as he opened the door to get in, the smell of barbecue danced through my nostrils.
"What did you get us?"
"I got us the same exact thing. Breast strips and fries with sauce on everything."
"Hmmm … just how I like it."
We stopped by Red Box, grabbed three movies and then he drove to his house.
"This is where you live?" I asked as he pulled into a nice two story home on the upper north side.
"Yes, sweetheart. This is my house." Kwame said proudly.
"This is nice baby."
"Thanks boo. My father brought this house for me when I was a youngin' but he officially gave it to me on my eighteenth birthday."
I know Kwame told me he had a house but I never figured his house would be this nice.
"What a gift." I replied. Kwame pulled into his attached garage and we both got out.
"So see this is where you'll park your car when you move in." I laughed.
"You are set on me moving in here with you huh? I don't even have a car so there's nothing to park Kwame."
"For now." He winked at me.
"And yes I want you to move in here with me. I'm just waiting on you to finally say yes." Kwame pulled out another set of keys and unlocked the door revealing an even more beautiful home on the inside than what I had seen on the outside.
"You have such a beautiful house Kwame. Looks like a freaking castle in here."
"All it needs is a queen. Go ahead and take a look around." He encouraged me. I took myself on a private tour of the house looking in and out of every room. I could tell by looking around his house that he was a neat freak and liked to have things in order.
I got a chance to see his son's room that contained every toy imaginable. He had a spare bedroom and then I came to the last bedroom that appeared to be his master bedroom. I could tell by how he had his house decorated that he paid attention to details and had great taste.
His bedroom décor contained black and a deep red. The room's furnishings looked suitable enough for royalty. Kwame came up behind me while I was standing in the middle of his bedroom and wrapped his arms around my waist.
"So baby what you think about my place?"
"I love it. It's beautiful. This is different than the townhouse I lived in with my mom and little brother and way more spacious than the spot I was staying in with Tameeka and her family."
"Then it's settled. You're moving in with me. End of discussion." Kwame leaned in kissing me softly on my neck.
"I guess there's no other way than your way huh?"
"Baby, you learn so fast." He replied and then pressed himself in closer to me so I could feel his stiffness. I still hadn't told Kwame that I was still a virgin and I planned on telling him but I felt that was for another time and conversation.
"Okay … so I'll move in with you Kwame. The only reason why I was so hesitant is because I didn't want to be a burden. I wasn't telling you all the stuff that went down with my mom to get sympathy."
"I know but I want you here babe."
"What did I ever do to deserve you?"
"God must really love you … let's go eat before our food gets cold."
We went back downstairs and sat in his formal dining room so that we could eat.
"You decorated your entire house by yourself?"
"No not at all. My mother is responsible for all of this. Interior decorating is her passion."
"She did a great job."
"I'll have to take you over to her house so you can meet her and you can tell her yourself." Kwame smiled.
We were interrupted by Kwame's front door flying open and in walks the crazy bitch from the party last week.
"So I pull up to come over to get some of my things and so we can talk but I pull up and all of my shit is packed up in boxes sitting on the front porch. Really Kwame? Really? That's how you gonna do me after all this time?" Charmaine stood in the living room oblivious to the fact that I had even been sitting at the dining room table. She probably couldn't see me because Kwame had stood up and got in front of me.
"At least your shit is packed Charmaine. I could've thrown your shit out on the curb. How come you haven't bothered to call me back when I ask you where my son is? You just gonna take my son and dip on me? No phone call or text Char?"
"I haven't called you back because I'm tired of the games and the lies. I'm done."
"I'm glad you're finally in reality ‘cuz we've been done a long time ago. And you are right we're done. It's over besides it's about time you moved on because that's what I'm doing."
"Come on. You don't mean that. Maybe we just need a break. You'll come back. You always come back."
"Charmaine, we are done. Cancelled. I'm moving on." Kwame stepped away from me revealing that I had been sitting there the whole time. The look on Charmaine's face was priceless. She looked as though she was seeing red.
"Oh hell naw! Are you fucking kidding me right now? See Patrice told me about seeing y'all together today and I just had to come over here and find out for myself. So you fucking this bitch or what? It has to be some reason why you throwing away your family for some hoe?"
"Everything ain't always about sex Char. And I'm not throwing my family away. Don't even stand there and try to act innocent when you've done your dirt. KJ will always be my family. It's your position that has changed. Give me my key." Kwame said holding out his hand.
"I'm not giving you shit! Why so you can give this bitch your key?" I had enough of her disrespect. I stood up from my seat.
"Listen call me bitch one more time and we gonna have a problem." I went to charge toward her but Kwame held up his arm preventing me from moving any further.
"Bae, I told you I got you. Charmaine you gonna watch approaching Kyhanna like that. She hasn't done anything to you anyway."
Charmaine's mouth nearly dropped to the damn floor.
"So you'll defend this bitch over me? That's low down Kwame but you know what? It'll be a cold day in hell before you see your son again."
Charmaine went to turn around and walk away.
"You know what? Get the fuck out and don't worry about giving me my key. I'm having my locks changed by the end of the night."
"Fuck you Kwame! Fuck you and your new little bitch! This shit is far from over. It's only the beginning!"
Charmaine appeared as though she wanted to say something else but she ended up knocking over one of Kwame's glass coffee tables before she got into her car and sped off.
Kwame
Chapter 8
"Man nigga you sure know how to pick ‘em … we knew Charmaine's crazy ass was gonna crash Marquis party. I'm just mad I didn't bet your ass more money. Pay up time nigga!" Khamani said the minute I walked through the door of his crib. Both of my brothers had been real quiet since Charmaine acted a fool at the party and I knew it was only a matter of time before they rubbed it in my face.
"Yeah, don't think we forgot!" Khyree said as I reached in my pocket and peeled off the money to give to both of them.
"I don't know why you thought your plan would work. You know your baby moms is a whole other level of crazy."
"Yeah, you right about that."
"So what's up with y'all? Did you allow her crazy ass to reel you back in yet?" Khyree asked. I surprised them both when I shook my head no.
"Nope. Charmaine and I are through. That's dead bro."
"Yo, hold up … you mean to tell me you and Charmaine broke up? For good?" Khamani asked in disbelief.
"Yes bro. We done. My only obligation is to KJ. That's it. Besides, I got a new lil situation now."
"Who bro?"
"Her name is Kyhanna."
"Do we know her?" Khyree and Khamani blurted out at the same time.
"Yeah remember the chick I was dancing with at the party … that's her. Y'all know that's Tremaine baby sister."
"Wait, wait, wait. You talking about his little sister that was a tomboy from a few years back?"
"Yes, that's her."
"Bro, she fine as hell now … there's no way she's the same person."
"It's the truth. She is and we have such a connection. It's crazy. It literally feels like I've known her for forever." I looked down at my phone and saw Selina calling my phone for the hundredth time today and I pressed ignore. Usually I didn't mind hearing from her but she had been going overboard with her excessive phone calls. That didn't stop her from calling two or more times and I still ignored her. Not to mention the fact that she'd already texted me thirty times by the time I'd woken up this morning.
