"Do these bitches have a vision problem or something? I swear they staring at me." Meeka noticed. I noticed the same thing but I wasn't going to bring it to her attention first. Besides, I didn't want to be responsible for her turning the fuck up on them while we were outside.
"Yeah they definitely staring at you." I added.
"Do we have a problem Tameeka? ‘Cuz your ass has been staring at me and my girls since you got off the bus."
"Ain't nobody staring at yo' fat ass Patrice looking like a big ass value size tube of lard. I should be asking yo' ass the same question hoe."
"I'm definitely not staring at your ugly ass."
"Patrice, I don't know why your mouth is so fly all of a sudden. I won't hesitate to molly-wop you if you keep this shit up. The beat down I gave you last year wasn't good enough? You must miss my fists."
"Shut the fuck up. I told you I wasn't staring Tameeka. Go on now." Patrice relented from her confrontation when her ass remembered the fight she'd gotten into with my best friend at the end of last school year. My best friend was pretty nice with her hands and even though Patrice was twice her size she didn't hesitate to drop Patrice to the ground. I knew the only reason why she backed down was because she got a flashback from what went down and decided she didn't want to be embarrassed like that again.
"I thought so." My best friend said as we walked past Patrice and her girls and walked inside the building toward our lockers.
"That bitch must've caught one hell of a flashback cuz she was looking at you like she seen a damn ghost."
"I know right. Sometimes I have to remind bitches who the fuck I am."
I laughed and shook my head at how shook my bestie had these basic bitches out here. They would try to act all big and bad but once they got one taste of how Tameeka went down they always surrendered. I didn't even have to fight anyone because of her reputation.
"Alright girl, I'm about to head to my locker real quick so I can get to Spanish. I'll text you in a few." Tameeka announced as she walked in the opposite direction of where I was headed. My first class happened to be study hall which was cool with me. When I walked in the class I found an empty seat near the window and I chose to sit there. I took my seat and pulled out my phone not even realizing I had yet another message from Kwame.
Oh and yo ass better not be on that phone while you at school.
Reading his text caused me to giggle underneath my breath.
I hit him back with, Whatever.
At this point, I was definitely looking forward to going to Marquis' party especially since he was going to be there. My temporary happiness was short lived when Malik walked in study hall.
"What you smiling so hard for?" He asked as he took the seat next to me.
"Nothing Malik." I answered and hurried up and put my phone away in my purse so he wouldn't suspect anything. I didn't know why I even cared what he saw. It wasn't like we were together or anything.
"I just knew you were gonna be in a bad mood this morning. It's nice to see I was wrong. Hopefully seeing me was the cause of that." Malik stayed fishing for a compliment but I didn't care because I wasn't about to give him any satisfaction.
"I woke up in a good mood. That's all."
"Oh." He answered obviously hurt that I wasn't buttering him up this morning.
I shrugged my shoulders and removed a notebook out of my book bag.
"Have you thought any more about what I said last night?"
"Malik … what about giving me more time to think don't you understand? We just talked about this last night. Damn." I replied. I pulled a pen out of my purse and started jotting down a few ideas I had just thought of. Really, I wanted to do whatever I could to distract myself from this annoying ass conversation. Malik didn't fully grasp the concept of what it truly meant to leave someone alone and just give them space. I knew from the conversation that we had last night over the phone that he and I were far from done with discussing our relationship. I just wished he would buy a damn clue and leave me the hell alone for a bit because his constant interrogation was getting on my nerves.
"How much more time you need Kyhanna? We broke up two months ago. I don't think you needed that much time to see but I'm a changed man. I've used this time to get myself together."
"Oh so you think I should just be johnny on the spot and have a premade answer for you huh? I'm sorry. It doesn't work like that. I'm not playing when I said you have to give me some time Malik."
"Don't you think I've given you enough time already? I mean my brother party is tonight and there's going to be a lot of people there and I want to be able to have my lady right there beside me. I want you with me especially if a nigga try and press up on you. I don't think I could take another guy trying to get with you."
"So this isn't about being back together actually. You just want me to take you back so no one else can get with me huh? You know what? You haven't changed one bit Malik. Well I'm sorry to bust your bubble but I can't give you what you're asking for. I'm going to your brother party to enjoy myself not be stuck up underneath your butt all day."
"Wow Kyhanna. So when was being my girl ever a problem for you? You never seemed to have a problem being on my arm before."
"I didn't have a problem being your girl until your ass decided to try and play me behind my back like I'm stupid. I'll be at Quis party tonight but not as your girl. If you don't like that then oh well. I plan on doing me to the fullest."
Malik couldn't do anything but shake his head since the teacher walked in and the bell rang. I was glad he was quiet because he would've went round and round with me until I couldn't take it no more. It was something how a nigga could do you wrong but sweated the hell out you to do right by them. I swear he was so selfish and I wished he would just leave me alone. Even though we had to be quiet in study hall that still didn't stop him from saying lil smart shit like he was a female. Just hearing his voice got on my damn nerves. Tameeka hit me up like she promised and I ended up telling her about how much Malik was currently getting on my nerves.
Girl, what you need to do is cuss his ass out one good time. If you did it one good time I bet you that nigga wouldn't mess with you no more. Matter of fact let me do it I'll make sure he never looks in your direction again.
I laughed.
That won't be necessary chick. I got this nigga under control.
Okay sis but you know I'm ready to go off on this fool. Let him step wrong to you. I swear to God I will drop kick his ass.
Meeka I am pretty sure you would. I believe you.
I smiled as I slipped my phone back inside the inside pocket inside my purse.
Malik leaned in close to me and whispered, "You better not be talking to another nigga either."
"Please shut up Malik. Leave me the hell alone for real." I answered. I couldn't wait for this period to be over. When the bell rang, I couldn't get out of there fast enough and I also couldn't wait until the rest of the day was actually over.
I didn't catch up with Tameeka until we were back on the bus getting driven back to Rockford Village.
"Girl, I missed you at lunch. Where was you at?" I asked. I hit her up when she didn't come to lunch but she never responded.
"Ahmad brought me some Burger King. And I definitely wasn't fin to turn down that shit. Especially when the cafeteria food taste like dog food."
"You ain't never lied." I laughed. As the bus pulled off from the school, I saw Malik standing on the curb and he made sure he locked eyes with mine and I rolled my eyes in return.
"I swear Malik get on my last nerve Meeka."
"Shit, he get on my nerves too and he wasn't even my damn boyfriend."
"All I ask him was that he give me a little more time just so I can think about everything and he can't even do that correctly."
"You a good one cuz if it had been me I would've told his ass to give me an eternity. Malik ain't the type of nigga to even deserve you. His ass been weak and always gonna be weak. It's sad that he's even Marquis little brother. It seems like the good genes skipped that mothafucka."
"For real. It's like him and Marquis are worlds apart."
"That's another fly ass nigga right there. It's like all your brother's friends are super fine. When he was free, I knew it had to be hard for you. Shoot, I know it would've been hard for my ass. Straight up."
"Actually it wasn't because a few years ago when Tremaine wasn't locked up I wasn't concentrating on niggas like that. But it would've definitely been a temptation had he been out now and they were always around."
