Intricate Love (Sinful Souls MC #2)(37)

After hibernating in my room, listening to music, I get up and make my way into the main house to help Knox with dinner. I’m walking out when I see him walking over to me.

“Hey, I was just about to come in and help you,” I say to him.

“Thought I’d come get you,” smiling down at me, he lifts my chin and looks deep into my eyes. “I wanna kiss you so bad, but I won’t, not until I know you want me to.”

I smile and nod my head. “Thank you,” I say before we head into the main house. We walk into the kitchen to get started on dinner; we decide on Spaghetti Bolognese, because it’s Dom’s favourite and I like to apologise to people through cooking.

“So, is it just you and Dominic?” Knox asks while chopping up tomatoes.

“I have another brother too, Jacob. But he lives back in Hollywood Hills, running his empire in the music department; he is a music producer, and a very big one at that.” I realise that I have been rambling on, so I turn my attention back to him. “What about you? Do you have any siblings? They are just great, I tell ya,” I say the last part with sarcasm. He laughs while adding the red wine into the pot; I notice that he has done all the cooking.

“I have two sisters; they’re a pain in the ass.”

I laugh while pouring a glass of water. “I’m pretty sure that all brothers just say that.”

He nods while laughing, “Probably.” I drain the spaghetti and he comes in behind me. “What’s your favourite colour?” he whispers into my ear. I smile a bright red smile.

“That is easy, blue. What’s yours?” I ask, turning around to face him.

“It was red, but now I’m thinking I like the colour brown just that much more,” he responds, looking into my eyes. I smile at him and pick out the plates so we can set the table.

Kiss me

After a really awkward dinner, because Dom was throwing glares at Knox, we begin walking back to the guesthouse. “Thanks for dinner. I know you did all the cooking, how did you learn to cook like that?” I ask, looking up to him as the moonlight hits the pool; making me notice all the curves of his perfect face. He sits down beside the pool, bringing his hand up to mine and tugging me gently, so I sit beside him. “My mom; she wanted to make sure that I could cook, because in her words, a kitchen isn’t just for women,” he laughs, looking up to the sky; it is in that moment that I think that maybe she is not here anymore. He continues, “She passed away a couple of years ago, car accident on the way back from a rodeo. Life hasn’t really been the same since, so I have just been drifting around the place.”

I look up to him and bring my palm to his face, pushing him to face me. “I’m sorry, I couldn’t imagine not having both parents.” He smiles, bringing his hand up to my face and running his thumb across my cheek.

“You need to stop looking at me like that, or I will kiss you again.”

I’m looking him deep into his eyes and I’m almost certain that I at least want to try it. “Kiss me; I want you to kiss me.” I whisper. With that, he pulls my face down to his and kisses me; I kiss him back, running my tongue over his until his hand comes up, and he wraps his fingers around the back of my neck. He stops, and begins pulling away from me. “Yeah, we should probably stop.” I blush instantly and look down to the water.

“No, hey,” he reaches for my face, “Not because I want to, but because I don’t want to push anything.”

I smile at him. “I didn’t know men like you still exist.”

He laughs, getting back on to his feet and helping me up. “Maybe just not where you were looking.” He is right; I never have found the real sweet guys attractive. Maybe I should have, and then maybe I wouldn’t be knocked up right now.

“I’ll see you tomorrow?” I ask him, hoping he will say that he is working.

“I’ll see you tomorrow,” he replies, kissing me on the forehead and leaving. I get into bed, and after thinking over a lot of things, I realise one thing’s for sure; I miss and love Blake like crazy, and there is absolutely no way that I can use Knox as a rebound for my hurt.

The next morning I wake up feeling like shit; I know I need to end whatever is going on between Knox and I before one of us gets hurt. I’m walking into the house when I hear the phone ringing, catching it just in time. “Hello, Abrahams residence,” I say in a chirpy tone, because that is how you are supposed to answer the phone in this dysfunctional household.

“Vicky?” I hear Blake’s voice on the other side of the phone; and just as I’m about to put it down, he continues, “Vicky, stop! Do not fucking hang up on me.” I keep the phone to my ear, but don’t say anything. “Alaina got kidnapped; we are in New Zealand right now, but I thought I would let you know that she’s okay.” I suck in a breath.
