Hooker(72)

By:J. L. Perry

‘We should.’ I raise my head off his chest and smile at him. He threads his fingers in my hair before pulling my face to his.

‘How would you feel about going to Josh’s place for the day tomorrow?’ he says when the kiss ends.

‘Really?’ I ask. ‘You’re getting rid of the Gestapo?’

He chuckles before he replies. ‘No, the Gestapo stays. But if you’re with Josh, I can get the Gestapo—I mean Brad—to hang back.’

‘Really?’ I grin. I like Joshua. I’d love to spend the day with him and get to know him better.

‘Really,’ Brock replies. ‘I hate the thought of you being cooped up in this house.’

‘You’re the best,’ I say, wrapping my arms around his neck.

‘I know.’ His modesty makes me laugh.

His lips meet mine again and when he deepens the kiss, I shift my legs so I’m straddling him. I’m trying so hard not to get attached to him, but I’m failing miserably. Every second we’re together just makes me crave him more. I’ll never tire of these feelings. It’s like nothing I’ve ever known. How am I going to cope if this thing between us doesn’t last?

Brock’s hands move down to my waist. He lifts my body slightly before sliding the head of his penis inside me. We moan in unison when he pushes all the way in, filling me completely. I rock my hips gently against him, never once taking my lips off his.

This is different to the other times. It’s not primal or desperate, it’s beautiful. Two souls coming together as one. This is not sex … this is making love.

‘So, do you have a boyfriend?’ I ask Joshua when we sit down for lunch.

I’ve had the best morning and we’ve become friends fast. His looks are similar but different to Brock’s, if that makes sense, though their personalities are miles apart. Joshua has a soft and vulnerable side to him. A big teddy bear. He reminds me a lot of Theo. Whereas Brock is cocky and exudes confidence.

‘No, I don’t have time for that.’

‘Well, you should make time. You’re a great catch. Being alone sucks. Trust me, I know. Until your brother came along, I was very familiar with that feeling.’

‘I’m a great catch?’ he replies, shaking his head. ‘Says the girl who’s only met me twice.’

I laugh. I knew within minutes of meeting him he was a sweetheart. Don’t ask me how, I just did.

‘I’m a pretty good judge of character. Hey, what about Theo? I think you two would be perfect for each other.’

‘Oh, we’re playing matchmaker now?’

I shrug. Of course I’m playing matchmaker.

‘I just think everyone should have someone special in their life. Your brother is the best thing that’s ever happened to me.’

‘I’ve never seen him like this before,’ he admits. ‘I’m so glad you’ve found each other. I honestly thought he’d never settle down. I couldn’t have chosen a better sister-in-law if I tried.’

‘You’re getting a bit ahead of yourself there,’ I say with a nervous laugh.

‘He’s not going to let you go, you know that right? He’s crazy about you, Jade.’

‘I’m crazy about him too,’ I say as my eyes lower and a blush creeps onto my cheeks. Why is it so hard for me to talk about things like this? Perhaps it’s because I’ve never felt this way about anyone before. ‘I’m lucky to have him in my life.’

‘He’s lucky to have you too.’ When Joshua reaches across the table and places his hand on mine, I give him an appreciative smile. Is Brock lucky to have me? Sometimes I wonder about that. He has so much to offer, me not so much.

We are both silent for a few moments. I’m not sure either of us know what to say.

‘So, about Theo,’ I finally blurt, trying to divert the conversation away from me.

‘What about him?’

‘He’s hot, he’s single, and he’s sweet, just like you.’ When I wiggle my eyebrows at him, he laughs.

‘I don’t know,’ he says with a shrug.

‘Not your type?’

‘He’s so my type, but am I his?’

‘Are you kidding me? I know you have a mirror in this place, because I just cleaned it.’ I’m a little OCD like that. ‘You’re gorgeous. If I wasn’t with your brother, and you—you know—didn’t prefer men, I’d so do you.’

He throws back his head and laughs. ‘You’re fucking adorable, you know that right?’

‘Are you drunk?’ Brock asks when he draws back from the kiss. I’m not what you’d call drunk, but I am definitely tipsy.
