Home is Where the Heart is(35)

Jordan had her heart. He was flattered to know even after all this time she still cared deeply about him.

“So...your bedroom has never been christened either then?” Jordan winked at her with a twinkle in his eyes as his fingers combed through her shiny blonde hair.

Cassie laughed, knowing where he was going with this. She had often wondered how things would have progressed between the two if they had stayed together rather than broken up, and right now, Cassie liked to think she and Jordan would’ve been together the way they are right now. She knew it was probably something people like Gabby would laugh at if she were to confess her deeper desires, but she didn’t care. Their bodies lay tangled like nothing or anyone could ever come between them.

“Nope, never, but I’m willing to change that.”

The words escaped her mouth before Cassie realized what she offered her ex-boyfriend, but Jordan didn’t seem to mind. She was seductively teasing him without even trying, and Jordan liked every inch of this side of her. He bowed his head down, placing his thumb on Cassie’s chin and giving her a soft but sensual kiss on her lips as his other hand cupped her bare bottom.

Suddenly, Cassie slapped her hand over her mouth in shock.

“Oh, shit!” Her eyes scanned the kitchen, looking at the pile of clothes they’d made on the floor.

“What, babe?” Jordan asked, nuzzling his nose around Cassie’s ear with a smile as his arms lovingly wrapped around her body.

She relaxed and tucked herself further into his embrace, blissfully enjoying this warm moment. “Nothing, I guess. I just hope Jake doesn’t wake up and come out to get a drink of water. If he does, he’s in for a huge surprise that he’s never seen before.”

“Does he have a tendency of doing that?”

Cassie shrugged her shoulders. “Sometimes, but thankfully, it doesn’t happen a lot, and I think tonight’s festivities wore him out enough to make him sleep through the night.”

Jordan tickled her side. “That’s probably a good thing considering the amount of noise we just made. And after our little festivities, I’m worn out enough to sleep the rest of the night too…not that sleep is a priority right now,” he said huskily. Cassie couldn’t help but smile. “Besides, if our son did happen to get up for some water, he would see his parents showing affection and happiness with each other. Nothing more, nothing less. All the important parts are covered.”

Our son. Cassie liked the two words that came so easily out of his mouth. She liked knowing Jake was now their son, opposed to just hers.

She repositioned herself so that she was straddling Jordan’s lap, her legs tucked up beside his as she brought her hands to his face, gently grazing his chin with her forefingers and thumbs, feeling his hard-on beneath her.

“So, what else did you have in mind?” she asked with a purr.

Jordan swept her hair to one side and placed a series of kisses on her shoulder and neck. “Oh, I don’t know. I was thinking we could take this to your bedroom. You did say it hadn’t been christened yet.”

Cassie chuckled, kissing him once on the mouth. “You have a dirty mind, Jordan Castillo.”

“You know you love me for it,” Jordan replied, kissing her back and leaving her wanting more with a twinkle in his eyes.

That she did. He was his usual lovable self—the Jordan she had fallen in love with all those years ago.

But she didn’t tell him. She would keep that little tidbit to herself.

Cassie pulled down on the hem of Jordan’s shirt she was wearing, covering up more of her thighs. She had to admit that knowing she was wearing his shirt made her feel good inside, like she’d gotten a little piece of Jordan back all to herself.

Cassie knew at this moment though, however content she may be to just simply lay in her ex-boyfriend’s arms, it wouldn’t and couldn’t last forever, because life had a funny way of slapping her in the face.

Their mouths collided together in a fiery kiss as Jordan slowly got to his feet, hooking Cassie’s legs around his waist again, and he began making their way out of the kitchen toward her bedroom.

As if on-cue, Cassie felt something vibrate from within Jordan’s jeans pocket.

"I think your phone’s ringing,” she said into his mouth.

“No, it’s okay. They can leave a message. I want to be here with you,” Jordan said, planting another luscious kiss on her lips, “and do some more of this.” His tongue sought entry inside her mouth.

As good as it was to be kissing him, Cassie couldn’t ignore the phone in his pocket. Whoever was calling him could be important.

“It’s okay. You should answer your phone,” she told him, setting her bare feet down onto the floor so that Jordan could take his phone call.
