His Price(47)
But it was getting harder to do. Everything I had been so sure of was slowly dissolving around me.
I didn't have the answer anymore.
Chapter Sixteen
Noella
My mind had been made up, he was getting what he wanted. Was I nervous about that? Afraid of what my future would be like with a baby in the picture?
The answer was simple.
No.
I was more afraid of what my mother would go through if I didn't. Watching Hegan fiddle with his fork, tossing food around his plate like a child trying to avoid vegetables, I could tell he felt differently.
He didn't know what his future looked like, or what the hell he wanted out of his life. The only thing he had been focused on was the money coming to him. Money that in the end wouldn't do shit to really make him happy.
“Hegan, what do you want out of this besides money?” Tilting my jaw, a single curl broke free, framing my eye.
“What do you mean?” Confusion filled his face, brows forcing down, wrinkles riding up to the crest of his forehead.
“You probably could have hired a lawyer to fight your dad's offer, but you decided to just go for the baby. Why? I know you're not stupid, a baby is a lot of work.”
Hegan sat still, an open gaze fixed across his face. His mouth was thin as a razor, no words forming against his tongue. Shaking his head, eyes falling back to his plate, he didn't have an answer to give.
“You don't know?” I said, lip perching to the side. My hand wrapped around his wrist, fingers gently circling the ink. “What's the first thing that comes to mind when I ask you, what do you want?” Tracing the deep lines penetrating his skin, I watched goosebumps ride up his arm.
Licking his lips, he forced out hot oxygen from his lungs. “You,” he said, jerking his head up. “That's what I think, I want you.”
I didn't expect that, every inch of me went numb. Chills ran over my body, the hair on my neck standing as the words reached my brain.
What? He can't be serious, can he? My walls that had been protecting me started to crumble, withering away as he spoke. Hegan didn't break his fixed stare, he peered into my eyes, his entire body trembling subtly in his seat.
“What?” That was all I could mutter out. I felt like I had been torn out of my body. My lungs seized, muscles tensing with a wanton need to just leap over the damn table and kiss him.
“You're the first thing that came to my head, you.” Leaning in, he brushed the curl behind my ear. “I don't think you realize how incredible you truly are.” Lifting my head, he caressed the exposed flesh of my neck.
No. No. He doesn't know what he's saying. This was a job, a cash job. A baby for him and all the help I could get for my mom. How could he sit there and try to steal my heart too?
I already agreed to give him what he wanted!
Why is he doing this?
Parting my lips, I tried to speak, but only a voiceless huff spilled out. My throat gurgled with sound, short pants rolled off my tongue. Finally finding my voice, I said, “Hegan, you don't know what your saying.”
“Yes, I do.” He pulled on my face, stretching my back forward, bringing me closer to his chiseled jaw. His mouth brushed against my cheek, whispering into my ear. “I know what I want, I'm just sorry it took me so long to find it.” His dampened lips pressed against my skin, light kisses floating down to my neck.
Rolling my head, my eyes fell back inside my skull. Colors started to shoot across my lids; blues, greens, yellows. The bright flashes coated my brain, dripping down to my belly, and driving the butterflies into a rampant storm.
Draping my hands over his shoulders, I dug my nails into the muscles of his back. It was a raw, feral heat between us. Sweat broke across his skin, emerging in small droplets as he pulled me onto his lap.
I had surrendered to my feelings, to the smoldering coals burning in my gut. His palms opened against my upper back, slowly trailing down my spine. Shivers transcended across my skin, head falling back, a light moan escaped into the dimly lit room.
Rocking my hips against his waist, I could feel his bulge pressing up. The thick cock massaged my clit as we glided our bodies together. Every thought that hung on chains around my brain had ceased. Having his baby, the debt I had... All of it.
Gone.
In that moment it was just the two of us, nothing else mattered.
“Noella,” he moaned. “God, you're beautiful.” His hands gripped the base of my head, mouth pressing firmly against my lips. His tongue slid between the smooth flesh, tangling with mine. Each muscle twirled together, wrapping wildly.
Every feeling that I'd brushed away and coaxed into the steel vault I created, had streamed to life. Hegan made me feel like I was at the top of the highest drop of a roller coaster; adrenaline purged my veins, a rush that couldn't be replicated.
