“Fuck!” I pull my hands out of her clothes and grab the steering wheel and steer away from the barn. I eventually get my feet working to find the clutch and get the tractor to come to a stop, and after a few deep breaths, we both burst out laughing.

“I’m sorry. I suck at driving.” She laughs.

I wrap my arms around her and squeeze her tight. “I think you should drive the tractor every single fucking day.” I smack a kiss on the side of her cheek. “I’ve never had so much fun plowing a field in my life.”

I jump down from the tractor and hold my arms out for her. She jumps into them and wraps her legs around my waist and I kiss the hell out of her. The rain pounds down on us as we kiss. It’s passionate and aggressive. I hold her face in my hands as she wraps hers around the back of my head, pulling at my hair. I spin her around until I can’t hold her anymore and we fall to the ground, sinking into the wet grass. We make out like a couple of teenagers rolling around on the ground with our hands exploring each other until we’re both covered in mud and shivering from the cold rain.

“Rain or sunshine?” I ask her.

“Rain. Definitely rain.” She smiles.

I give her one last kiss before I pull her to her feet so we can head back to the house to get cleaned up. I glance across the field and laugh as I notice the very obvious zig zag pattern plowed in the grass from the tree to the barn.

CHAPTER 14

Amy

I shuffle down the stairs looking forward to a large cup of coffee. I was up almost all night again. I sleep for a couple of hours, wake up in a sweat and can’t go back to sleep, so I read. I want to ask Dillon to stay with me again, but then we’d both be useless. I do sleep better next to him and I don’t have as many nightmares, but it’s still a restless sleep as he’s constantly trying to soothe me. I love it, but I don’t want to be selfish. He needs his sleep.

I see him sitting at the kitchen table leaning over his little computer again and eating a bowl of cereal. He hasn’t showered yet and his hair is just as unruly as mine. He’s shirtless and wearing a pair of sleep pants with a drawstring that I imagine pulling on and letting his pants fall to the ground. The book I read last night is obviously having an effect on me. I walk directly to the coffee pot, pour myself a cup, and plop into the chair next to him.

“Morning,” I say into my coffee.

“Morning, how’d you sleep?”

“Okay.” I lie. “Whatcha doing?”

“Checking email and stuff. If you ever need to use the computer, you’re welcome to use it. I don’t have a password on it or anything.”

“I really don’t know what I would use it for.”

Dillon laughs at me. Like a full belly laugh. “I’m not even sure I want to corrupt you, but it’ll be fun. Come here.”

I scoot my chair closer. He turns his head quickly and plants an unexpected kiss on my lips. “Mmmm….good morning.” He runs his fingers through my snarled hair, trying to smooth it out.

“I didn’t brush my teeth yet.” I cover my mouth.

“Doesn’t matter to me.” He smiles and gives my hair a little tug. “So look, email is mail, only electronic. That’s pretty much self-explanatory, right?”

I nod my head.

“Facebook is a social media site. You invite friends to your page and you can post pictures and information about what you’ve been up to. This is Laney’s,” he says while pointing at different things on the screen. “She’s on here more than I am. I just check in with a few friends every once in a while. See, her friends send her recipes. They talk about their books and stuff.” He leans back on his chair and turns to me. “Then, there’s twitter. A lot of celebrities tweet. People follow their tweets, basically just comments. If you want to hear what a certain person always has to say, you follow them. I don’t tweet. There’s addictive games on here like Candy Crush and Words with Friends. You can play against other people out in the universe. Crazy huh? There are addictive websites as well, like YouTube. You can spend hours watching self-published videos of just about anything. Then, of course if you just want random information on anything, you can google it.”

“Google?”

Dillon laughs again. “God, I love you.” He shakes his head.

He loves me?! He must realize the words that came out of his mouth. His face turns red and he looks nervous.

“I just….you’re the girl for me. Just the way you are.” He leans over and kisses my cheek and then jumps up from his chair.

I don’t know what to say so I sit there in awkward silence.
