Hearts on Fire 1: Serefina(28)

By:Dixie Lynn Dwyer

“Fuck. I want you, too. You’re full of surprises.”

He stood up, pulled her thighs wider and her ass practically all the way off the counter before he thrust into her. She moaned and grabbed onto his forearms and wrists as he stroked her pussy over and over again. The cabinets and counter creaked and moaned with every thrust he made into her body. Her breasts bounced and swayed, he could see his cock disappear into her pussy and it drove him insane.

“More, harder,” she chanted.

He pulled her hips closer, and now her ass was over the edge of the counter as he stroked downward into her cunt. She was gasping, crying out his name and pressing her breasts forward against his chest as her hands gripped the counter. He could feel her counterthrusting, and it set him off. Made him lose control.

“Serefina!” He yelled her name and thrust one more time, exploding inside of her. He leaned forward and licked her breast, suckled the nipple and then released it with a plop before moving to the other breast and repeating his taste test. He then kissed along her skin to her lips, lifted her up off the counter and into his arms as he kissed her on the mouth. Slowly he pulled from her body and she squeezed him snugly as he carried her into the bedroom.

Ace was in pure amazement. But the best part was seeing his brothers’ faces as he entered the room carrying their special little lady. They were smiling wide, and patting the bed, preparing to settle her in to bed to rest, safe and secure in their arms.

He released her to them and watched in awe as they covered her with the sheets and blanket then joined her, kissing her arms and then her neck on either side. His chest tightened and his gut ached. Another day passed where they had been successful in protecting her. As the hours approached and tomorrow arrived, he couldn’t help but wonder what was coming. Was it just his fear killing the moment of happiness and reminding him of the situation, or was it his guilt again, for not being diligent and on guard with Marco, and losing his brother, his best friend, because of it?

He didn’t know, but if his instincts were right, something bad was about to happen. This time he wasn’t going to ignore it.

Chapter 15

Two weeks and nothing. Not a sign of the arsonist or an accurate identification. Then Trent and Buddy received a call over the radio. At first, Trent wasn’t sure why this fire call was important. But as he rolled onto the scene in his Arson investigation truck, and caught his brother Buddy’s eyes, he knew that something was up.

“What do you have?” he asked Buddy.

“A survivor in the main bedroom. Looks to me like the person who set it screwed up.”

“How so?” Trent asked as they entered the building. He could smell the charred wood and see the water damage, but the fire was completely out.

As they entered the room, he could tell where the fire dissipated and where it started.

“So how do you know they screwed up? How do you know it’s arson?”

“Because one of the firefighters saw some stuff. There were diagrams of a building, some photographs and articles about the club fire and that recent one in Pennsylvania. He didn’t want to touch anything, just secure the apartment. They did that and left it up to us to investigate. Trent, there are pictures of Serefina.”

“What?” he asked as they entered the room.

Initially it appeared as if the fire started along the wall by the computer. But a closer look and he could see the line of burnt material leading away from the outlet. It traveled along the molding and throughout the room. The place was pretty badly damaged, but contained to the one room. As he looked at the items, he immediately saw pictures of Serefina, and a laptop that was still working. With protective gloves and his investigative tools he began to collect evidence to secure the case and prove arson.

“The guy who was found in here, can you ID him yet?”

“Working on it. And I called the chief. He was letting the guys know about this. Serefina is with them all at Ladder 19.”

“Great. Good thinking. We don’t want to take any chances. Let’s see what this computer says. We’ll gather all this stuff, take the pictures, and have my team come on in. We are to be meticulous and take our time. This could be our guy and he could have just fucked up.”

“You got it. I can’t wait until this mess is over.”

“Me either,” Trent said and then bent down and began to do what he did best, gather the evidence to prove accidental fire or arson. But as his heart raced and his mind absorbed all the signs and evidence around him, he had a feeling they just got the break they were hoping for.

“Is it him? Is the guy they found alive in the apartment the arsonist?” Ice asked the chief, as he, his brothers, Serefina, her brothers, and the team of firefighters gathered in the main room.

“They’re not sure. They want us to sit tight and keep Serefina with us,” he stated.

“That’s exactly what we plan on doing,” Ace stated, as he wrapped his arms around her waist and held her tight.

“The detectives are there at the scene. Buddy said there were pictures of Serefina, article clippings from the fire at the club and others. They’re not sure who the guy is they found. His face, neck, and side are burned badly, but he’s alive,” the chief explained.

“I can’t believe this. If this is the guy, if this is him, then we can put this entire thing to rest, tonight,” Eddie added.

“Let’s come up with a plan to keep Serefina with us. That fire that came over the radio ten minutes again is a bad one. Three other companies have been called and we’re next,” Ace told them.

“Then she comes with us. She can stay by the trucks, there will be plenty of firefighters around,” Ice said.

“Sounds good to me. It’s not like I was never around fires before. Right, Dad?” Serefina said, and he nodded his head.

“She snuck along a few times. With us will be the safest spot for you.”

Just then the alarms sounded. They were being called in to support the other firehouses. Ace grabbed her hand. “Get on up in the truck. We need to grab our gear,” Ace told her.

“Go,” she replied and then hurried toward the truck, as the men all grabbed their gear, dressed, and hopped into the fire engines. Ladder 19 was on their way to help their fellow firefighters.

Serefina covered her mouth as they pulled onto the scene. It was complete and utter chaos. There were elderly people lying on the grass, sitting in wheelchairs, firefighters carrying others outside. The fire was consuming the entire top and bottom floors of the condominium complex. It sat right on the beach, with breathtaking views, and had always been a senior living community.

There were three-ladder companies making their way to the roof and to the middle sections of the building, rescuing people still trapped inside. Below them the fire roared and more firefighters tackled the blazes from all angles. There were even crews on the beach side, soaking down parts of the building so that the fire didn’t spread. Serefina heard her father give his orders, telling the men which crew they were with and had to assist.

“You stay right by this truck. You hear me?” Ace said. “I want you safe.” He kissed her quickly before giving orders to his crew. As lieutenant, he was in charge of a group of eight men.

She watched them head out, the only distinction between them and the other firefighters was the number nineteen glowing on their turnout coats.

“Serefina, this is a mess. We don’t have enough people to wheel some of these elderly people to a safer distance,” her father told her.

“Let me help. I shouldn’t just sit here and do nothing. Those people need help, Dad.”

“She can stay with me until I’m needed for the more serious injuries,” Johnny Landers said. He was an EMS worker and Trent and Buddy’s brother.

“Okay. Try to stay close, and don’t venture off.” Just as the chief said that, a small explosion went off near the side of the building. People were screaming, one of the ladder companies had to pull the ladder away from the side of the building to protect the firefighters climbing them. It was a sight to see, and Serefina jumped in to help as many people as she could.

It seemed like forever that she was wheeling elderly people across the street and near a designated area. They had to separate minor injuries like mild smoke inhalation, cuts and bruises from burns, severe smoke inhalation or potential heart attack victims. It was so insane. She was feeling so frustrated. But as she looked around at all the people, the paramedics and the volunteers who showed up from nearby storefronts and homes, she realized how wonderful and close of a community this truly was.

“Serefina.”

She turned around at the sound of the male voice and looked at a man in a firefighting uniform. He had a mustache, and was about as tall as Ace but slimmer. He wore his hat, had some ash around his cheeks, and she didn’t recognize him.

“The men want you in a safer location. They sent me over to find you.”

“The Sullivan brothers?” she asked.

He hesitated as he looked at her closely. “Yes, ma’am.” He reached for her elbow.

“If you’ll just follow me around this truck and over toward that parking lot, there’s a security vehicle set up. You’ll be safe in there.” She looked around, there were too many people, and Johnny was in sight but working on an older man who seemed to be going into cardiac arrest.
