Heart of Dixon(34)

I thought helping him surprise her would keep my mind distracted so it wouldn’t have any time to dwell on the whole Jax and Dixon situation, but it isn’t helping. As I stand here getting helium balloons blown up with the help of Rebecca, Reagan, Maverick, and Paisley to tie them around the sectioned off area we’ll be celebrating in, all I can think about is Dixon.

He must’ve partied pretty hard last night after we left him down here because he was supposed to go golfing with Kayden, Jax, and Reagan, but was too hungover to, so he ended up staying holed up in his room for hours instead.

Everyone has been asking me nonstop what the surprise is that Kayden has been working so hard on all day but, keeping my word to him; I’ve kept my mouth shut. But doing so has been torture. I want to shout it out to everybody that he’s proposing, but I keep quiet. Maverick and Paisley are the only other ones who know because, Kayden, while golfing with Maverick back in Houston last week, asked him for his blessing. Of course, he got it. After everything he’s done for Savannah, he’s shown everyone that his love for Savannah is real, and he’s exactly the kind of guy she deserves.

Finally just after sunset, the text I’ve been waiting for arrives.

Kayden:

She said YES! On our way now!

I squealed so loudly that I drew attention from everyone.

“Seriously! Brooklyn, you’re killing me here.” Rebecca pouted as I shoved my phone back into my clutch.

“Sorry, my lips are sealed but you guys are all going to find out the surprise very soon because they’re on their way here right now! Everyone get ready!”

We all huddled together around the balloon filled area beside the pool. The second Savannah and Kayden walked through the doors leading out to the patio; we all shouted, “Happy Birthday, Savannah!”

With tears of happiness streaking down her face, she ran over to us giving each and every one of us hugs and telling us thank you for coming to celebrate with her. She hugged me last and when she pulled me in for a hug she whispered into my ear, “Thank you for everything you did to help make today the most amazing day of my life.”

Tearing up myself, I blink away the salty tears threatening to fall. Grabbing her arms, I break out of the hug and laughing, I tell her, “Okay, please stop before you make me cry and ruin my makeup. I worked really, really hard on it this evening for this party! I know it’s going to be all over those gossip magazines, and television shows come tomorrow. I need to look like the Hollywood starlet that I am.” I tease as I turn my head sideways and blink dramatically at her.

Bursting out laughing, Savannah smacks me on the arm, “Shut up. You’re too much sometimes. But really, thank you, Brooklyn. I felt like I was dreaming the entire time. Kayden was so sweet. And oh my God his proposal was so romantic. I was bawling; he was crying. It was all too much and so perfect. It was more than I ever could’ve imagined.”

“Well, I for one, am glad to hear that. Because you deserved a fairytale proposal from your real life Prince Charming.”

The sound of Maverick behind us makes us stop talking and turn around to see Savannah’s father. He’s wearing a white t-shirt, shorts, flip flops and a Stetson. Beach attire 'Maverick style' is all I can think as we beam brightly up at her father.

“So I hear my princess is officially engaged, now?” He says opening his arms to pull her in for a hug.

“I am still in shock. Brooklyn helped Kayden plan the most spectacular proposal of a lifetime. I never had so much fun in my life. I ran around this place like I was on the Amazing Race or something! But the prize at the end wasn’t moving on to the next challenge, but moving on to the next step in our lives. I cannot wait to marry Kayden.”

Not long after, one of the staff members at the hotel wheeled out Savannah’s birthday cake, that was three layers tall with a big 25 on top with sparklers surrounding it. We all gathered around to sing Happy Birthday when we heard a guitar start to strum on stage behind us as the DJ stopped playing the music he had going on his sound system. We all turn to find Dustin Lynch standing on stage, with his acoustic freaking guitar, singing to Savannah!

"Oh my God! Savannah, Dustin Lynch is singing you, Happy Birthday!" I shriek as excitement bursts out of me. I'm squeezing her hand as I jump up and down screaming.

Her face lights up brighter than New York City at night as she looks from the stage to Kayden and jumps into his arms, "Thank you! This is officially the best birthday ever!"

After Dustin Lynch stopped singing, Savannah blew out her candles and then, taking Kayden's hand, they announced to everyone that they were now engaged. There were lots of screaming and crying and congratulations going around from everyone.

Dustin spoke into the microphone congratulating them and announced he was singing Cowboys & Angels next for the newly engaged couple to dance to.

Savannah had tears in her eyes as Kayden led her out onto the dance floor so they could dance to their song while having Dustin Lynch sing it to them.

As soon as the song ended, the DJ went back to playing music and the party swung into full gear. We drank and danced the night away until the early morning before finally calling it a night and heading back to our suite.

Nothing is more awkward than being crammed in an elevator full of drunk people and being sandwiched between Jax and Dixon. Reagan, being the goofball that he is, started bumping into me, playfully making my drunk ass lose my balance and stumble into Dixon. He reached out, catching me, and when he did, his hand grabbed my waist, pinning my back to his front. The collision and contact with him knocked the breath straight out of me and made my heart stammer in my chest.

"Whoa, someone's a little tipsy tonight," Dixon laughs as he helps me stand back upright.

Standing and straightening my dress I slide back between Jax and him, and lean into Jax to hold myself up and try to calm my beating heart. "Yeah, I definitely had one too many tonight," I turn my eyes towards Reagan, who's now picking on Rebecca and Savannah. "You, Reagan, are an ass. You're lucky I didn't break my ankle!"

All of a sudden it sounds as if Reagan is the teacher from the Peanuts movies because all I hear from him is gibberish as my body focuses on nothing but the sound of Dixon humming Taylor Swift while his hand slides up the back of my thigh, causing my panties to become soaking wet and my body to flush red hot.

I snap my head around to face him, and the look of hunger in his eyes makes it hard to breathe. I feel his fingers slide along the hem of my dress. I dart my tongue out between my lips, slowly licking them because suddenly my mouth is feeling extremely dry.

I mouth, "Stop it!"

A devilish smirk dances across his lips as he shakes his head no and slowly slides his fingers higher under my skirt. They're tracing the outside of my cheeky Victoria Secret panties. Glaring at Dixon, I nervously glance behind me as I try to squirm closer to Jax. Our damn elevator keeps stopping every few floors, but people see how many of us are in here and opt to wait for the next car.

We still have five more floors to go.

Oh my God...

Dixon's fingers slip under my panties and slide along my slit coming to a stop at my clit. I try to squeeze my thighs together, but it only causes the throbbing to intensify. He slowly begins rubbing circles over my clit making me lose all sense of reality.

Suddenly the doors ding as the elevator comes to a stop. As the doors slide open, my heart practically lunges into my throat. Dixon quickly removes his hand and walks by me, smirking once again, as he sticks his index and middle fingers into his mouth, sucking my arousal off of them. "Fucking delicious."

I blush ten shades of red as he laughs and follows everyone out into the hallway toward the double doors leading to the massive penthouse suite we're all staying in.

Draping his arm over my shoulder, Jax walks with me into the hotel room. No one wants to go to sleep yet, so we all head towards the pool table in the bar area where Kayden gets to work turning on music.

Grabbing my ass, Jax kisses my temple and then yells to Kayden, "Pour us some shots, Knox, and then let's play a round of pool!"

Dixon is already pouring himself a shot and tossing it back as he keeps his eyes locked onto mine. My head is spinning because I'm so overwhelmed. He confuses, infuriates, and renders me speechless all at the same damn time!

Why is he always so all over the damn place? One minute he doesn't want anything to do with me and the next he's all over me. He knows I'm seeing Jax now. He had his chance, and he blew me off for some tramps.

Needing some air, I sneak off to the other room and open the French doors leading out onto the balcony that overlooks the ocean below. There's a warm salty breeze blowing off the water that's gently caressing my flushed skin, helping cool me back down.

I stare up at the constellations above me and allow my mind to calm down and stop stressing over Dixon, which is not an easy task especially when I can still feel his fingers between my thighs. I still cannot believe his crazy, drunk ass did that! I swear he has officially lost his mind.

The sound of footsteps behind me startles me. I'm afraid to turn around because I already know who's behind me. I can smell his intoxicating cologne consuming me and making my girly parts tingle with excitement. I hate how my body reacts to him still when every fiber of my body should loathe this man. I have Jax, who is amazing and kind. He doesn't set out to purposely hurt me the way Dixon does. I admit I've used Jax to make Dixon jealous more than a few times. But Dixon always has to go a step further. It's almost as if he set out to hurt me for the sole purpose of making me hate him, which is crazy.
