She felt close to him.
Chapter Nineteen
Over the next couple of days Damon filled his days with working the fields and training Penny. She wanted to protect herself. He knew there would never come a time when she was in a situation where she’d need to. He understood her desires and so spent a few hours each day training her. Several times those training sessions ended up with his cock inside her body. The most tantalising experience of all had been when she went to her knees behind the shed. Penny had sucked his cock all the way to the back of her throat.
She liked sucking his shaft. On a few mornings he’d woken to her lips around his cock bringing him to orgasm before he got chance to do anything other than submit to her wanton mouth. The love he felt for her was able to be let loose in the country. He watched Laura and George together. Despite the threat of Grimes and their dire situation, the couple still looked happy in love. Witnessing the couple together gave Damon hope.
Penny was his world, and he’d do everything for her. He stared at her across the field. She was hanging out washing as he unearthed some potatoes. Edward worked close by to him. Pearce had agreed to keep the other two away in order for him to have a chance to speak to the younger man. It was still early morning. He glanced behind him to see Pearce taking the men farther afield.
“She’s a lucky lady having a man like you around,” Edward said.
Damon glanced at the younger man. He nodded his head. The idea was not to show too much interest in what Edward had to say. He had no wish to scare the young man.
“I’m lucky to have her. Not many men can have love in this world.” Damon threw a potato into the sack. Edward looked sad.
“No, love is not for this world.”
Damon wiped the sweat from his brow. His arms ached from all the extra labour. Working in the city at the sex club had made him weak. The hours he’d spent training for a fight had been hard work. Watching a bunch of men get hard for naked girls had made him unfit.
“Doesn’t mean you can’t have it,” Damon said.
“What do you mean?”
“I’m more interested in the future. There is a chance for all of us to have a life. We all want a good life and one we can sustain. Looking back does no one any good.” Damon let his words sink in before going back to the potatoes.
“I see what you mean,” Edward said.
Seconds passed. “Are you wanting it to stay like this?” Damon asked.
Edward shook his head.
“Well, you’re going to have to fight for what you want. No one else is going to do it for you. I know what I, Pearce, and Don want. What do you wish for?”
He watched the younger man. Edward stared in the direction of the other two men. Pearce had them inspecting some kind of plant. George was helping out as well.
“You got to make a choice, son,” Damon said. He gave it a few seconds and then started digging.
Edward cleared his throat.
“What’s the matter?” Damon asked.
“Grimes has a plan,” Edward said. The younger man licked his lips looking nervously around him. “I was told not to tell you, but I can’t do it. I want a world where I can go home to a wife and kids. Being here and seeing George with his woman has been a wakeup call. I don’t like killing people.”
“What’s going to happen?” Damon asked.
“Grimes has his area convinced you and the other area leaders are going to kill him and his people. He’s been recruiting men to kill. He has a secret bunker where they’re all training. They have weapons and are working to keep them running.”
“Are you telling me Grimes is starting a war?”
Edward nodded. “He’s taken Tristan Kendrick’s land. I don’t know what happened to the leader. No one has ever heard from him since his family were killed.”
Damon glanced behind him at Pearce. This information he hadn’t expected. His gaze moved to Penny.
“The attacks on the farms were his first wave, right?” Damon asked.
“He says without food you’ll be weak.”
“What were you and the others supposed to do?” Damon turned to the other man. A plan formed in his mind. The farmers were the weakest spot. Don had most of his recruits and men in the city protecting them. The farms had been set up along the edge of the city. The men before them had wanted them close but far enough away from the centre of each main area. Damon imagined all four areas had their farms near the borders. Living in the centre of the city was vital for trying to fix or mend the city. Don wanted to make his city worth living in. Damon could understand that. Looking at the farms, there was not enough area of land for the people living in the city. His leader had hope that they would be able to repair what had once been broken
