My lord, I wish for you to calm down. Your mind is a jumble at the moment, and I cannot get past it. Kenton sat, his head still going as quickly as his heart. The woman is coming, as you have surmised, but she is in trouble. More so than any of the other women. I believe the men, the dragon slayers, they are picking up their game.
Stepping up their game. And is she where we can get to her? Do you know where she is? He said that he did not, only that she was near the piece but hadn't touched it yet. Something occurred to Kenton when he realized what the dragon was saying. You're getting stronger too, aren't you? I mean, before you had to have them touch the jewelry to know. You can tell now when they're close.
Yes. I never thought of that, but I think you to be correct. I know that she is within.... Kenton waited while the dragon tried to work out the distance. She is within several feet of it, but she is moving away now. I think...I cannot tell where she is or the piece, only that it's close to her. Lord Grady or Lady Harper will know; I have faith that they can help better now in which piece is where.
They can tell, but I've not asked them. I'm afraid, if you want to know the truth. If we go there it might alert whoever is looking for it that they've found the right piece. I guess there are fakes out there that are being chased down as well. Caelin said that was right. When she touches the piece, what will you know about her? More than with the others, I'm assuming.
I do not know, but as you have pointed out, I'm stronger for the other sparks of me. Kenton also knew that the parts of the dragon were called sparks. He had no idea why, but the queen had told Grady and Harper and they had no reason not to believe her. Lord Kenton, I wish for you to be ready. I know that you are a good surgeon, but I think you should need help. Not just at home, but in your offices as well. You are being watched even as we speak.
We're half way to having all the pieces now, I'm betting that they're worried that once we have them all, we'll be unstoppable. Caelin told him that they would be unstoppable. I'll work on getting more help, not just with the clinic and hospital, but with the household as well. Everyone will need to step up their game.
Kenton sat in his office chair and tried to think if he had people watching every avenue of his family. His mom had taken to going to the store recently with one of his brothers or himself. The women, all of them, were pretty strong now because of the addition that Harper brought, but he still asked them to not go out alone. Even Gavin, who was taking some college classes at the local university, was well watched. He thought that while he had everyone covered, he was still missing a lot. He looked up when Grady came in the door.
"I forgot to get a bank." He sounded so panicky that Kenton laughed. "I'm serious. How the hell am I supposed to open today without a bank? Christ, the store is perfect, I have enough employees to have a good day, and no money."
"You do know that you can just go to the regular bank and pick some up?" Grady reminded him it was Sunday. "Oh shit."
"Yeah, oh shit." Kenton pulled out his wallet and reached for his family, telling them what was going on. They were all headed to the new computer store anyway, and he had them bring all the cash they had. "I have about seventy bucks myself. Harper said she has about a hundred. No one carries cash anymore."
They made their way to Dragon Computers. There was a line along the sidewalk that made Grady pause in mid step. Grabbing his brother's arm, he led him to the back of the store. There was a thick bank bag on the counter when they went to the showroom. He started laughing when he read the note.
"You have the most intelligent wife of all time, Grady. Here, she left you a bank bag and note." He read it aloud. "'I knew that you were really busy, so I stopped by the bank to make you a first day register. If you've already done it, then that's fine. I'll take it back when I get there. Good luck today. And I love you.'"
"Christ, I love her." Grady put the money that he'd gotten from the family, all seventy dollars' worth of it, as well as the thousand-dollars that Harper had set up, into the register. They were in business, as far as Kenton could see.
Kenton helped him get things set up as employees began to come in to help out. He knew that his brother had been training them on items in the store, and he was glad to see them going around and re-familiarizing themselves with things. Kenton knew that this was going to be a success for Grady, and was glad for it.
Kenton asked Grady where Harper was today. "She wanted to go to the studio and work. I guess she has some ideas, and it was making her a little nutty not being able to work. Did you know that she has this big show coming up soon? Jorden and her are also setting up the gallery. Some of her things were shipped from her home last week."
