Fierce (Devils Point Wolves Book 5)(19)

This he could handle.

He leaned forward and pressed his lips to hers with a need that humbled him. She opened as quickly as a night flower under the light of a full moon. A familiar passion flowed between them and he happily sank into it, even going so far as letting his heart open to it. No, he didn’t exactly have the right words when she needed them, but it made it no less real for him.

She was the one.

He broke free from the kiss, knowing what to do next. With his hands roaming her skin and the heat of her body fusing to his he confessed. “This is it for me, baby. Whether we go through the entire mating process or not. I’m all in. I tried to be something I’m not by giving you the space you needed to come to terms with who I am. I should have listened to my instincts and watched you closer. That’s not going to happen again. Now you are going to let me take care of you like I’m supposed to.”

“But, Creed—”

He shook his head with no plans on letting her continue. “Nope. No buts allowed. This is not me asking, this is me telling you. I care deeply about what happens to you and plan to do whatever it takes to keep you safe and happy. And yes, this is for selfish purposes too. I need this as much as you do. It’s settled. Now give a man a break and nod your head and then kiss me before I die.”

“You’re crazy if you think I’m just going to always do whatever you want because you say so,” she said, a smile twitching at the corners of her lush mouth.

Creed nipped at the bottom lip she stuck out after calling him crazy. “I think you like a little crazy. It’s more exciting that way.”

“I want normal.”

He sighed. “Enough bullshit, Dani. Are you going to kiss me already or do we have to waste more time debating something that isn’t going to change? You’re mine.”

She scrunched up her face and Creed braced for her next argument. She liked nothing more than to get him going and apparently they weren’t done.

“So what’s next then?”

He smiled at her question. That he could handle.

“Well, first I’m going to spread your legs and lick my way up them.”

She slapped at his shoulders. “That’s not what I meant and you know it.”

Creed clutched his heart in mock pain. “It hurts me that you don’t think I’m serious about my time with your beautiful body.” He wedged his leg between her thighs and nudged them apart so he could slide his hips in place and prod at her opening. Which he noted was more than ready for him. He also watched her eyes widen and glaze over when he slowly dragged across her hot button.

“That’s not fair,” she said, her breath coming in shallow pants.

“Sorry, babe. There’s no rule book for this that says I have to be fair. Plus, considering how good you feel, I’m going to have to disagree anyway. This, what we have between us, is nothing short of a miracle. And I’m not going to waste it.”

“You really mean that?” She gasped when he rocked forward and slid into her at her question.

“I mean everything I say, babe. No bullshit.” It was getting harder to continue this conversation when every dirty thought he ever had about his mate flooded his brain. She had no idea how crazy things were about to get.

Fortunately, she must have read his mind as she focused a sweet smile on him and wrapped her arms around his neck at the same time her hips arched to meet his and give him deeper access to her clutching heat. “Then kiss me, Creed. Kiss me like you mean it.”

He didn’t hesitate, taking her mouth hard while pouring every emotion he couldn’t say into that kiss. Then he did a whole hell of a lot more than kiss her and he did it so well neither one of them heard his cell phone ringing incessantly.

Dani stood next to Creed waiting for someone to answer the door. By the time they’d come up for air and went in search of sustenance, there were five messages on Creed’s phone that seemed important based on his reactions. If his facial reactions were indication since he didn’t actually tell her anything more than a vague statement about reporting into his boss to discuss recent events.

It kind of annoyed her that they were back to this. Just when she’d started to get some things straightened out in her head they were thrust back into reality and the fact that these men would not sit idly by waiting for the police to catch the people responsible for the fire.

They were going to go hunting. And at this point she suspected that cycle of retaliation after retaliation would continue endlessly. Creed didn't know it yet, but she wasn't about to sit idly by while this happened. A plan had to be come up with. Something that would solve all her problems with one fell swoop.
