Dani, being no slouch, didn’t wait for him to grab her and get her out of there. She was up and out of the chair and sprinting to the other end of the building by the time he turned to her.
“Dammit.” He shoved the human toward Stix. “Take this piece of shit.”
He ran after his mate, stunned to see she’d already cleared the garage and was no longer in sight. It didn’t take him long before he caught up with her though. He plucked her around the waist and lifted her off the ground.
“No!” she screamed, flailing her arms.
“It’s okay, baby. It’s me. I’ve got you. Slow down,” he soothed.
Her brain must have connected with his voice because her body went limp in his arms.
“Creed,” she cried, throwing her arms around his shoulders and nuzzling her face into his neck.
He held onto her tight, pressing her as close to him as he could. Their racing heart beats competed with their heavy breaths for attention as they both tried to recover from the ordeal with fear and adrenaline rushing through them.
Except he took comfort in every beat of her strong heart and every ragged breath puffing against his skin. A few minutes later and she might have… No, she was here and in his arms. She was his. Forever.
“Shhh, baby. It’s okay. You’re safe.” She squeezed harder and if she made it a little harder for him to breathe he didn’t care. As long as she was safe, she could have whatever she wanted.
A few minutes later as her breathing slowed, he pulled her loose. “Let me look at you. Are you hurt?”
She shook her head. “I’m fine.”
He spied blood on her hand and wrist. “What the hell?”
“It’s nothing. I had to rip out the IV before I could run.”
“Yeah, about that. What about the baby?”
She rolled her eyes at him. “I’m sure she’s fine. I was running not sky diving. Besides, getting her away from that psycho with a gun seemed a little more important at the time.”
Creed almost wanted to smile. Almost.
She wasn’t wrong, but he was still too fucking upset to see the upside of this shit. So he growled, giving her the only warning she would get before he covered her mouth with his.
The need for connection overwhelmed him, followed by the scent and taste of his Dani. The sudden need to lay her out and feel every inch for himself wrapped around his brain. It had been too long and the thought that he could have lost her forever did something crazy to him.
His right hand slid up her back and into her hair where he cupped the back of her head and pressed her harder against him. His tongue explored too. No, he took that back, it devoured her. With all the shit they needed to discuss still unresolved he poured all he felt into that kiss and held on for dear life.
He turned and pressed her back into the building, his body placed perfectly between the legs she now had wrapped around his waist. Her lush breasts were amazing and soft smashed against his chest, but it was when her little nails began digging into his shoulders that he went a little crazy. He bucked forward, sliding his bulging erection, barely contained by his pants, against her clit. She gasped and he swallowed every breath, buzzing with ferocious need.
Except, fuck, they were outside in the open where anyone could see. With an extreme show of willpower on his part he wrenched free from her delicious mouth and buried his face in her neck.
“We gotta stop, baby or I’m going to be fucking you against this building and not care who might see us. You deserve better than that.”
She straight up whimpered, a sound he felt directly in his dick. He breathed deep, letting her sweet scent fill him for a moment longer before he lifted his head and looked down at her.
“Let’s get out of here and get you somewhere safe. Preferably a place with a really big comfy bed. I think I’ve got some catching up to do with my tongue.”
Her eyes widened a moment before her tongue peeked out and swiped her bottom lip. It was his turn to groan. “That is if you don’t kill me first.”
Before he could do or say anything more, his phone vibrated in his front pocket. He shifted Dani in his arms and dug it out.
“Yeah?” he pressed it to his ear.
“I thought you wanted to get Dani secure?” Stix asked.
“I am.”
Stix made a strangled sound. “Sorry, bro. But you and her mauling each other out there in the parking lot is not secure.”
Creed twisted his head side to side, searching the surrounding area. “Where are you?”
“Far right window in the main building. I’ve got a clear shot of you two.”
Creed cursed under his breath. “What about the asshole? He secure?”
