“This has nothing to do with doctor’s orders. My boss is a lot harder to answer to than any of those pansies back there.”
Panic and fear filled her. “Please, take me back right now,” she pleaded even though she suspected that plea fell on deaf ears.
“If it makes you feel any better I’m not going to hurt you,” he said.
She shook her head. “No, it doesn’t.” She put her foot down and tried to stop their forward movement. The chair pitched forward and Dani threw out her arms to brace for the impact. Only the jerk wheeling her away from the safety of the hospital managed to catch her and compensate for her fall and return her upright.
“Miss Jones. Don’t take my desire to not want to hurt you to mean I won’t take all means necessary to deliver you to my boss. If you fight, you or your baby could get hurt.”
She gasped. How in the hell did this man know about her baby?
“Who are you?” she asked.
“You can call me an interested party.”
She twisted her fingers together over her stomach trying to calm her nerves. “Interested in what?” she asked.
“Your boyfriend for one.”
Panic seized her, forcing her to take deep breaths to remain calm. “And your boss?”
“Another interested party with a keen curiosity in your unborn child. So please behave so I don’t have to explain what happened to you when we get there.”
Her mind whirled with the possibilities as her gaze scanned the vacant open space trying to find something or someone who might help her.
Two big swinging doors loomed in front of them and she had a sense of certainty that if he got her past those doors nothing would be right ever again. She had to do something.
Shooting for the obvious she opened her mouth and started screaming. Not that it helped. The asshole kidnapping her acted quickly and covered her mouth with a tight, bruising grip. She tried to bite his fingers, but he anticipated that move too and let go briefly and readjusted his hold.
More to her dismay, he pulled a roll of duct tape from the front pocket of his lab coat. Jesus, this guy was more prepared than a frigging boy scout. He ripped a chunk off with his teeth and in a move so fast she barely registered it, he had her mouth taped and his hands free. She grabbed at his hair and pulled as hard as she could. Another unproductive move as he twisted loose and captured her wrists before taping them together too.
“Nice try, bitch,” he snarled.
When he moved behind her and started pushing her again, she looked up. The doors were close. This was it. A sharp pain in her chest twisted at the realization there was nothing else she could do. He was taking her out of the hospital in broad daylight and not a single soul tried to stop him.
The feet of her chair struck the doors and she fruitlessly screamed with all her might against the tape muffling her. Until the doors opened and she saw Creed standing on the other side, claws out, eyes glowing yellow.
“Bad move, asshole.”
That was the last thing she heard before all hell broke loose. For the second time in two days.

At the sight of Dani with tape covering her mouth and her hands bound in front of her, Creed went from seeing red to seeing black. The wolf inside him fought his restraints, determined to rescue and avenge his mate.
"Back away slowly now and I might let you live," his voice rumbled at an unnaturally low octave that wasn't easy to understand. It hurt his throat to even use it.
"Not going to happen, man." The man standing behind his beloved pulled a gun out of his pocket and lowered it to her temple. "If you don't want me to kill her then I suggest you back off. Better yet, leave the premises."
"I'm not leaving," he growled. "And I don't believe you'll kill her. Someone wants her alive, I'm guessing."
He wanted to play this cool and smart, but his time to do that was running out. Not to mention patience had never been his strong suit.
“You don’t know shit,” the man spat. “You stole two of our group and killed others. This is nothing compared to what you have coming down on you.”
Creed kept one eye on the gun being waved around by the idiot while also keeping a constant eye on Dani. Before he could wipe the floor with this guy he had to get her out of here. Fortunately, Stix was smart and when Creed didn’t return in a rush from the basement he’d know what happened.
“Hey, asshole.” As if on cue from his thoughts, Stix appeared behind him and gave Creed the split second distraction he needed to grab her. He charged forward and wrenched the gunman’s arm until the weapon clattered to the ground and the guy screamed in pain when his arm broke in two from the pressure.
