Devil's Charm(26)

“Did you have a good night?” Vincent asked, taking a seat.

“Very. What brings you down here so fucking early?” Devil asked, carrying out to the recycle bin the few bottles of beer they’d drunk.

“Phoebe’s dealing with the kids, and I like to stay away from that chaos. She’s organizing the cleaning crew for the club. They’ll be there in an hour or so to start gutting the place.” Vincent leaned back in his chair. “She your old lady?”

“She’s my woman. I guess she’ll be considered my old lady.” Sitting down, Devil inhaled on his cigarette looking at his friend.

“Got word that Rob has been pissing himself about you.”

Devil laughed. “What’s the news then?” he asked, wanting to take his mind of his woman’s naked ass. He had yet to fuck it, but it would only be a matter of time.

“You crushed his hand. He’s been trying to rally some of the other pimps and clients in a bid to make life difficult for you.”

“Can he do it?” Devil asked.

“His clients are some of the richest people in the county. I doubt they’d try to get their hands dirty with a known pimp. His girls are underage,” Vincent said.

“I can’t believe this is so fucking bad. How is Judi doing?” Devil asked.

“Curse and the guys have gotten her working at the club. She’s cleaning rooms, and Phoebe’s looking into getting her back at school. I don’t know how she’s going to take that, but we’ll handle the problem when it arises.”

Devil waited for him to continue.

“What are you going to do? Are you going to keep them at the club, or are you actually going to settle down and do what Tiny has done?” Vincent asked.

“I’m settling down. I’ll still go on the road, but I’m looking to find a house.”

Vincent chuckled, pulling out some paperwork from his jeans pocket. “My woman knows you better than I realize.”

He handed over the piece of paper. Devil took it from his fingers, opening up the folded papers. “What is this?”

“A house. It’s within the wealthy area. Phoebe knows how you like to piss people off, and she figures this will be big enough for you and Lexie. Also, any of the club who sticks around, and if you see here,” Vincent pointed at the garden, “it’s big enough for a garden for the barbeques she wants you to throw.”

“Your woman has everything planned out, doesn’t she?” Devil asked. Phoebe was always prepared, which was one of the things he liked about her.

Looking through the paperwork, he heard Lexie moan. She rolled over in bed and gasped.

“We’re out here, baby.”

Minutes later she walked into the room wearing a pair of shorts and a vest. “I found them in the drawer,” she said, going to the sink. Lexie smiled at Vincent. “Morning.”

“Morning. You don’t need to be embarrassed, Lex. I’ve got no problem with you being here.”

“Okay.”

Devil looked over the paperwork, knowing he’d need to see the house before he even thought about buying it. “I want to check it out.”

“I’ll get Phoebe to organize a viewing.” Vincent stood and left them alone.

“What was that all about?” Lexie asked. She poured them both a coffee.

“I’ll have cream and sugar,” he said.

He liked the way she followed his orders adding what he asked for. Devil watched her, liking the domestic feeling she inspired within him. He stayed in one place only going on the necessary runs, and he could have this for the rest of his life. After their time in the pool he’d not even bothered with a condom. They were a waste of time anyway.

Liar, you just like the feel of her naked against you.

“Do you want me to go to the pharmacy today?” she asked, sitting down in Vincent’s vacant chair.

“Why?” She wasn’t wearing a bra, and he was getting a little distracted by her naked breasts on display that were only covered by a shirt.

“For the morning after pill?”

“No, you don’t need it. We’ll deal with whatever happens.”

“I don’t want kids yet,” she said, blowing on her coffee.

He knew she was being reasonable while he didn’t feel the slightest bit reasonable.

“I’ll use rubbers, but you’re not taking the morning after pill. That’s final.” He stood up, going into the bedroom to grab his jacket. “We’re going to look at a house today. I’ll be up at the main house. Come to me when you’re ready.”

He left the pool house heading toward the main house. Phoebe was bundling the kids into the car as he approached. She smiled at him. “Where’s your other half?”
