Devil in Texass(48)

By:Calista Fox

When he straightened and slowly withdrew from her, another moan escaped her

parted lips. The feel of his hard rod against her sensitive inner walls flared her desire all over again. Or maybe it’d never dimmed.

She seemed to be in a constant state of arousal with this man.

Jack’s arm hooked around her waist and he helped her stand, though she was still

wobbly on her tall heels. She laughed softly, a little embarrassed. “You made me weak in the knees.”

“Mine are a bit rubbery too,” he whispered in her ear as his arms wrapped around

her and he held her to him, his front to her back.

She sighed in pure bliss. “You’re one hell of a Welcome Wagon.”

Jack laughed. “Glad to be of service.”

“Mm, and then some.”

Thank God she hadn’t given up on her quest for a hot hookup last night when she’d

realized there was only one bar in town. What a shame it would have been to miss out

on Jack Wade.

“Still not done with you,” he murmured as his lips grazed her neck.

Excitement rocketed through her. “Good to know.”

It took several minutes for him to regain his composure. When they were both a

little steadier on their feet, Jack released her.

“You weren’t kidding when you said you aren’t fragile,” he commented as he

dragged his briefs and jeans up his legs and over his hips.

“Not fragile,” she agreed. “But I will admit, I didn’t think I could handle what you

were doing to me. At one point, I thought it was too much, but…”

Jack said, “I would’ve stopped.”

She quickly shook her head. “No, I didn’t want you to stop. I’ve just never

experienced anything like that. Hell, that pretty much goes for everything you’ve done to me.” She blushed at the admission.

Jack grinned. “Sweetheart, you make me want to try every trick in the book.”

“Lucky me.”

He chuckled as he reached for the tiny puddle of black lace that was her panties and

handed over the miniscule garment. “Why don’t you meet me at my place after I’m

done here?” He extracted a set of keys from his front pocket while she stepped into her thong. He worked a silver one off the rung, then held it out to her.

“The key to your house?” She stared at his offering for a moment.

He opened her hand and pressed the key into her palm. “I’ll be twenty minutes

behind you. Thirty at the most. Lock the door when you get in and I’ll ring the bell.”

“It’s your house, Jack. I’m not locking you out.”

“I don’t like the idea of you being there with the door open, so just humor me,

okay?”

She hedged and he wasn’t sure what that was about. Then again, she had no idea of

the significance of him wanting her in his house. He’d never invited another woman in, but didn’t think twice about it with Liza.

“How about I just wait for you at my cottage?” She tried to hand the key back. He

didn’t accept it.

“I want you in my bed tonight.”

She let out a low moan. He smiled in triumph.

Pulling her back into his tight embrace, he whispered in her ear, “I’m already

getting hard for you.”

She giggled. “You have the devil’s libido.”

“Told you it’s been a long time since anyone has captured—and held—my interest.

Help me make up for lost time.”

Grinning, she said, “Okay. Feel free to use my body ‘til you’re satisfied.”

Jack’s lips slid over hers and he said, “You sure you want to give me that kind of

free rein?”

She shivered in his arms. Her smile said she relished the idea of being the recipient of his sexual attention. “You have something kinky in mind?”

He shook his head. “Just want you sprawled across my bed, naked and wet and

begging me to fuck you harder.”

Her knees seemed to shake. “Jesus, Jack,” she said. “You could probably make me

come just by talking dirty to me.”

His cock twitched, springing to life again. “We’ll try that later. In the meantime, tell me you’ll be in my bed when I get home tonight.”

“After the picture you just painted, how could I refuse?”

“Good.” He released her and scooped up his shirt. “Just remember to lock the door

behind you.”

Her brows knitted together. “What’s with the Ft. Knox security? I thought small

towns were supposed to be safe and friendly. The last place in America you could leave the car doors unlocked without worrying someone’s going to steal your stereo or Cole

Porter CDs.”

Jack laughed. “We’re a little more progressive than that. Cole Porter,” he said under his breath with another deep chuckle. “Even small towns have their bad elements. I

don’t like the idea of anyone helping themselves to my property.”

Yes, at the moment, he considered her to be a part of that category. Tarzan was still in the house.

“So, you’ll be there, right?” he asked.

She stared at the key in her hand. “This is a little awkward. I mean… It’s your

house.”

“I’ve got nothing to hide,” he said. And realized he’d posed the statement as a

challenge.

Manhattan got the gist. “Neither do I, but…” She shook her head, as though

clearing away whatever thoughts invaded her mind. “I like that this is something

casual. So all of my questions are just…they’re inherent. You know, part of getting to know someone. And the people in this town. Nothing serious.”

His eyes narrowed on her. “You saying that for my benefit, sweetheart? Or for

yours?”

She stared at him. “I don’t know.” She shook her head again. “I had it in my mind

that when I came to town, I was going to be cautious. But since I met you… I really

haven’t been.”

Jack gave this some thought, remembering how he’d pegged her when he’d met her

as being complex and high-maintenance. A woman needing to put distance between

her and whatever haunted her. The thought didn’t bug him, just forced him to consider what had her so skittish.

She didn’t do the one-night thing. She liked that there was some substance behind

their fucking. But nothing too overwhelming or commitment-oriented. His asking her

to meet him at his house unnerved her. Too much in too little time?
