DARK FALL(33)

Now it was time for Kaity to get the hell out and Erik to go back to work. Life would continue normally.

Erik walked to the door and Kaity yelled, “What are you doing?”

“Time to go,” he said. “Get dressed and get out.”

“Are you kidding me?”

“No. You did your job. Now go.”

Kaity grabbed the sheet and rolled herself up in it. She stood from the bed, her hair a mess. Her lips were still red from the intense kissing. She looked freaking beautiful and Erik hated himself for admitting that, even if it was in his mind.

“You see what women do around here,” Erik said. “You had Blaine last night. Me this morning. The fantasy is done. I have shit to deal with today.”

“You think I fucked Blaine?” Kaity asked.

Erik didn’t say word. Kaity moved close to Erik and pressed her lips to his neck.

“I didn’t fuck Blaine,” she whispered. “I kicked him in the balls and kicked him out.” She turned and dropped the sheet. “Oh, by the way, I saw the license plate on the car that dropped off that package…”

Kaity looked over her shoulder and smiled.

She was trying to get control. Erik curled his lip. He was pissed off because whatever game Kaity was playing, it was working.

thirteen.

The game and the bullshit was about to come to an end. Erik rushed right to her, grabbed her by the arm, and spun her around. His eyes scanned her nude body for a second before he asked, “What did you just say?”

“I saw the plate number on the car.”

“Are you fucking kidding me? Why didn’t you tell me that sooner?”

“I don’t know,” Kaity said, scrambling.

She feared something like this would happen. She would show that she knew more than the average person. Trained to spot the smallest of details. One of the most common things Kaity did undercover for Brad was spot license plates numbers. She had become a pro at it; finding a way to make a sentence out of the letters and memorizing the numbers like it was a telephone number.

“You remember the plate right now?” Erik yelled.

“Yes.”

“Come on, let’s go.”

Erik pulled Kaity to the door and opened it. She let out a cry and tried to claw at him.

“I’m naked,” Kaity yelled.

“I don’t care. Hurry. You have information I need and then you’re gone.”

“I didn’t sleep with Blaine,” she said again.

“It has nothing to do with Blaine. Fuck.”

“It does. You’re jealous. Worried. I sense it.”

“You’re pushing your luck,” Erik said. He let Kaity go. “Get your clothes on in one minute or I’m dragging you down the hallway butt fucking naked.”

Erik left the room and Kaity took a few steps back. She put a hand to her chest. She had tempted the angry biker and now was getting burned. Talk about an angry man. But, damn, he was so sexy. Just so sexy. And his body…

Kaity found herself biting her lip trying to convince herself not to get wet again. She dressed herself, sliding still damp panties up to meet her wet body. She rushed to put on her jeans, bra, and shirt, just in time for Erik to open the door and nod.

“Now,” he said.

“I’m ready.”

She walked up to Erik and looked at him. She wasn’t afraid of his face, even if Erik tried to act like everyone else was.

“Where are we going?” Kaity asked.

“Just stay by my side,” Erik said. “And you might survive this.”

Kaity’s mouth ran dry. A comment like that yesterday maybe would have been serious, or even flirty. But right now, after seeing what Erik could do and how he could act, it wasn’t serious, it was a damn threat.

Erik put his hand to her back. Just that touch alone made Kaity melt in her own skin. She closed her eyes for a second and pictured Erik throwing her against one of these walls and ravaging her. Tearing her panties off. Thrusting hard and deep, again.

“We’re going back outside,” Erik said. “You play any fucking games out here, baby, and there’s no stopping what anyone will do. You’re not taken by any one of us. Got that?”

“Yes,” Kaity said.

Erik opened the door and held it. Kaity walked back outside to a group of angry bikers. Blaine sat on the table and held the severed finger between his forefinger and thumb. He dangled it above his face like he was going to eat it.

“Fuck, man,” Blaine said.

“Put that goddamn thing down,” Miller bellowed.

Blaine dropped the finger. It flopped on the table. Kaity turned and felt her stomach curdle. If there had been food in her stomach, she would have thrown up by now.
