“What are you thinking about?” Alex asked softly, tracing his fingers over the batch of fresh wrinkles that had appeared on her forehead. “You’ve gone all tense.”
“Nothing important,” she answered, hoping to sound nonchalant. She really didn’t want to talk about Miles. She was angry enough at herself for even thinking about him in the first place during this wonderful moment.
He must have noticed that she didn’t want to talk about whatever was going on in her head because he nodded. Then he asked, “Can I see you tomorrow once you close up? I’m going to be busy tonight catching up on work, but I would like to make you dinner.”
Melt.
She couldn’t help the bright smile that appeared. She hadn’t wanted to seem overeager at his invitation, but she just couldn’t help herself. This man was wonderful.
But then Olivia remembered her dinner plans with Christie and, as much as she wanted to spend time with Alex, she didn’t want to break her plans with her friend. “I’m sorry, I can’t. I made plans with a friend already. What about the next night?”
Alex nodded, “Friday it is then.” He nuzzled her hair, dragging the straight line of his nose up her neck.
“Do you want me to bring anything?” she asked, becoming slightly distracted by his actions. Her voice sounded breathless even to her own ears.
He smiled. It was that slow, lazy smile. The one that made her heart pound in her chest because it promised wicked things. “Just yourself and maybe an overnight bag. I’ll call you later with my address since you apparently don’t text on that ancient phone of yours,” he teased.
She huffed, pushing him back so she could sit up. “You seem to enjoy making fun of that ancient phone, but it’s reliable and I happen to love it very much.”
She couldn’t help the desire burning into her lower belly when she suddenly realized he was gazing at her chest. The sheets had slipped when she sat up and her naked, heavy breasts were completely exposed to him. His eyes burned hot at the sight. Her nipples puckered and hardened as he continued to stare and he leaned in quickly before she could protest. Not that she would.
He caught one nipple between his lips, laving it with his tongue. She couldn’t help the shocked yet pleasurable gasp that escaped her lips at his unexpected action. She could feel a rush of warmth flood her entire body. But before she could wrap her arms around him, he pulled away, her nipple still gleaming from his attentions. “Don’t distract me, darling.” His voice had gone husky again. “Because it seriously makes me want to fuck you right now and I really have to go.”
She felt herself slicken at his words and she clenched her thighs in an effort to keep from moaning out loud. She nodded, dazed, and he leaned down to kiss her one last time before he pushed himself reluctantly out of bed and away from her.
She took a calming, deep breath as she watched him dress, trying to dispel the sensual haze that had settled around her. It was difficult, especially since she had the opportunity to ogle this buff, sexy, naked man, but by the time he buttoned up his shirt she felt slightly more in control of her body.
She wanted to walk him to the door, but her dresser was too far away. Despite last night, she still felt a little hesitant of prancing around buck naked in front of him. Instead, she pulled the sheet up and away from her mattress, standing up to tuck it around her.
She faced him and couldn’t help but smile when she saw the uncomfortable look on his face as he adjusted his hardened length in his slacks. “Need a hand with that?” she asked teasingly, even as her body flushed at her bold words.
He cut her a quick look and smirked, “Not now, but when I’m alone tonight in bed and I get hard thinking about you, I’ll pretend it’s your hand doing the stroking and not mine.”
Oh.
Her chest heaved again as arousal flooded. She bit her lip, already picturing the scene in her mind.
“I’m leaving now,” Alex murmured, though it was almost to himself. As though he had to order himself to leave in order to prevent jumping her bones. The idea made her feel powerful and desired, the way a woman should feel.
But he seemed as though he really did have work to do, so she relented. “Let me walk you to the door.”
He was quiet as she led him through her bedroom door and through the living area. When they reached the front door of her apartment, he picked up the tie he had dropped there the night before and grinned as he tucked it into his pocket. She blushed once again at his knowing look but turned her face up to him for a goodbye kiss when he leaned down.
“Bye, darling. See you Friday,” he mumbled against her lips. He pulled back quickly. “I’ll call you tomorrow.”
