Cale (Walk of Shame #3)(18)
He must be able to tell that his words have shaken me up, because the next thing I know I feel his lips on the top of my head, before I hear the door open.
“I’ll see you tonight, Rile.”
Shaking off my frozen state, I turn to Cale and offer him a small smile. “Yeah . . . I’ll see you later . . . um . . . after work.”
The door closes behind him and I instantly go into panic mode.
“He did not just say that, Riley.” I walk over to the bed and start stripping it down, barely able to even function right. “You’re just hearing things. There’s no way in hell that Cale is still a virgin . . .”
I have no idea how long I’ve been standing here, dazed and confused, when my door opens and a woman walks in.
Pulling myself together, I smile at her and introduce myself, before walking out into the hall, giving her time to get ready.
How I’m going to be able to function for the rest of the day is beyond me. I had to have heard him wrong . . .
“Yeah, that’s it.” I try to convince myself. “I’m tired. He could have said anything.”
The woman calls my name, interrupting my thoughts, so I shake off my personal thoughts and prepare to make it through the day, hoping that I’m just going crazy.
Cale . . . a virgin . . . me his first . . . friends . . . we’re just friends . . .
MY SHIFT ENDS IN TWENTY minutes and I can’t deny that I’m a little disappointed Riley didn’t stop in to see me. I haven’t heard from her since I left Sensual Touches and it’s really starting to bother me.
I guess she wasn’t ready to hear that I really did wait for her, and I bet that she doesn’t believe me. I wouldn’t believe me either if the roles were reversed. A virgin stripper. . . . No fucking way. Impossible right? Well, I’m the fucking exception. She is the reason that I’m the exception.
I look up from the ground when I feel a hand on my shoulder. Stone grins like a fool. “Dude . . . you’ve been standing there for ten damn minutes now. Just get the hell out of here. You’re useless here in that state.”
Shaking my head I steel my jaw. “Nah, I’m good. Just get the hell back over to your side, man. I don’t want your dick over here.”
Stone laughs and starts backing up. “At least I’m actually working my dick, bro. That’s more than you can say.” Grinning like a fool he gives me the middle finger with both hands, before busting back into a dance.
I get my head back into the game for the last ten minutes, trying my best not to think about Riley and whether or not I fucked things up.
Just as I’m pushing through the crowd of women and getting ready to head into the back room, I spot Riley sitting at the bar talking to Sara.
Sara looks over at me and notices the stupid ass grin on my face, raising her brows as she figures it out. Hell yes it makes me happy as hell to see that Riley is here. I don’t give a shit who knows.
Gathering up my shit, I get dressed quickly and snatch my tips from Kash, tossing him a pile of twenties on my way out the door.
I stop dead in my tracks when I notice Lynx at the bar talking Riley up. That dick better learn his place when it comes to my woman. She may not know it yet . . . but she’s my girl. I’m going to make that very clear, and real soon.
“Just admit that you came to see me,” Lynx says with a confident grin that makes me want to choke the life out of him. “I can definitely put on a show one night if it keeps you coming back.”
Riley laughs as if she finds him amusing, but doesn’t say anything as I approach them at the bar.
Lynx quickly turns to me as I place a kiss on Riley’s head and wrap my arms around her from behind. “I didn’t think you’d show up,” I whisper next to her ear. I look up at Lynx as I say the next part. “I’m glad that you came to see me. I’m ready when you are.”
Riley takes one last sip of her drink and slides it across the bar to Sara. “Thank you for the drink, Sara.” She gets ready to reach for cash, but Sara and I both stop her.
I look at Sara. “I’ll pay for it.”
She shakes her head. “It’s on me. A little welcome home present. Well besides what I’m sure you’ve given her.” She winks and walks away.
Lynx stands up at the same time that Riley does. “Well, I guess I’ll be seeing you tomorrow,” he says stiffly. “Same time as the last.” He raises his drink to me and smirks. “You did good tonight, Cale. The women got a good show. All of them.”
I tense my jaw and bite my tongue. I know damn well what he’s doing. “Let’s go, Rile.” I place my hand on the small of her back and guide her outside, fighting the urge to kick the shit out of that dick.
