Brock's Punishment(16)

By:Olivia Black

It became hard to breathe when he realized that he’d wanted to walk away from Shaw. He wanted to run away, but now, all he wanted was to be wrapped in the man’s arms. He needed Shaw to listen to his side of the story and believe in him.

“It’s not just your life, Brock. My whole life was just turned upside down as well. I’ve trained for this job since my parents and pack were slaughtered by a group of rogues wanting our land. And now, I’m turning my back on everything I’ve ever known to protect you…my mate. I don’t want to know what happened. I don’t want to think of you as a killer.”

“I need you to know what happened. You’re my mate. If you can’t believe in me and stand by my side then how is this supposed to work?” He gestured between the two of them.

“Okay, okay.” Shaw lifted his hands as if to surrender. “Can you talk while I drive? Or do you want to have the conversation right here?”

Brock nodded. It took him a few seconds to walk toward Shaw, but once he started, he didn’t stop until he was within arm’s length. The two stared at each other—blue eyes challenging hazel—until he was grabbed and pulled into Shaw’s chest. There was no hesitation.

Shaw rolled his tongue over Brock’s lips and he moaned right before the kiss spun out of control. Their teeth banged together as both men angled for deeper contact. Shaw tasted sweet on Brock’s tongue and he knew without a doubt that he could easily become addicted to the wolf. Brock gave Shaw everything he had, feeding him kiss after kiss as their tongues danced in a sensual rhythm. Melting his body into Shaw’s, he wrapped his arms around the man, holding him in a tight embrace.

Brock dug his fingertips into Shaw’s back, massaging the muscle before turning his attention to the man’s long, flowing hair. He ran his fingers through Shaw’s long locks, rubbing the soft strands between his fingers. He wanted more, he wanted to strip down and feel the man’s soft strands against his naked flesh. Rubbing his chest against Shaw’s, he slowly moved his hips, letting his hard shaft get friction against Shaw’s thigh.

He was completely immersed in the moment until Shaw slowly ended the kiss and gentle pushed Brock back. Panting, he licked his swollen lips and stared deep into Shaw’s hazel eyes. The emotion that the man normally kept a tight rein on was shining bright. Brock smiled.

I did that. I put that look into his eyes.

It was an incredibly powerful feeling.

“Let’s get back on the road.” Shaw wrapped an arm around Brock’s waist and led him back to the truck.

This time, Shaw opened the passenger side door and buckled Brock in. He watched as the man walked around the front of the truck, adjusting himself as he went, and Brock grinned.

As Shaw pulled the truck back on the interstate, Brock wrestled with what to say to the man. Both of them had been through a shock. He tried to see the situation from Shaw’s point of view. The man was an agent, his job was to hunt down rogues, and here he was trying to hide Brock. He felt guilty for not being more understanding. It wasn’t just his life that was affected, Shaw’s was as well, and he needed to remember that.

“I’m so sorry about your pack and your parents. I can’t even image what you’ve been through.”

“It was a long time ago.” Shaw reached out and touch Brock’s thigh, gently rubbing back and forth.

“I’m not like those rogues,” he insisted, stopping Shaw’s hand so that he could intertwine their fingers.

“I know.” Shaw nodded.

He glanced over and smiled, letting Brock know that he wasn’t grouped with the rogues that killed the man’s pack.

“Paul Darren was Sloan’s ex-boyfriend.”

“I recognized the young man from a picture inside Paul’s home. There was a frame with Sloan’s name on it.”

“Paul was his boyfriend. The man was abusive, and when the relationship finally ended, he continued to stalk and harass Sloan. When Tucker came into the picture, we found out how obsessed Paul was with Sloan. The man broke a window with a brick, he called at all hours, and he managed to break into Sloan’s house and shoot Tucker in the back.”

“Were the authorities contacted?”

“There were numerous reports filed, but nothing was ever done. Sloan called the police repeatedly until finally he just stopped and tried to ignore Paul, hoping the man would go away.”

“What happened?”

“Tucker got shot. When Sloan called me, my first thought was, my friend is dead. I drove to his house and…God...there was so much blood.” He could still see Tucker lying on Sloan’s bed covered in blood and unmoving. “I watched our pack doctor pull the bullet out of Tucker’s back. I held Sloan while he cried. And then I went to see Paul. Everything got out of hand so fast and I killed him. My intention wasn’t to kill. I just wanted to scare him. I wanted him to leave Sloan and Tucker alone.”
